Kapitel 7: Best Friends Forever
"I basically wanted to control Arbiters to use their strength to fight other Arbiters and kill each other hahah....It seems like there are three more Arbiters, so how about it? Are you willing to get yourself controlled by Zander so that you won't feel pain, that's the nice offer right? So what are you waiting for?"
That's right, If someone willing to let themselves be controlled then they won't have to feel pain and the user can control them without hurting them.
"Curse you....!" said Raido.
"Go kill your precious former comrades Zack..." ordered Masked Guy.
"Zack, you fool how dare you forget your friend? Damn you I will get your senses back!" said Raido.
"I will also help you besides you already lost in one-on-one right?" said Mikazu.
"Tut.... don't say that right now!"
"....."
Zack looked completely expressionless like me, but he can't even talk because of the magic controlling him right now. Zack and other two rushed towards each other, Zack was using his Two-handed sword to attack. Normally your attacks might be a little delayed because of heavy weapon but Zack seemed to be fine with using his sword. Raido and Mikazu was having trouble dealing with Zack even though they both were attack at the same time. Zack was blocking their attacks and trying to give counter attacks to them. The weapons collided each other so many times and it was becoming ferocious battle. Chloe used her magic ability to use the wind cutter, while trying to make it strong enough to not get deflected, towards Zack but he still deflected them all however he struggled a little bit by deflecting them. Mikazu and Raido used the opportunity to attack him simultaneously at the same time. Zack was able to block all attacks from three of them and then Zack made some distance while trying to block all attacks from Mikazu and Raido. He then used his magic flamethrower with so much energy in it. Mikazu used Divine slash to deflect the attack and Raido used the Fire ball that looked huge, because of so much energy put in that, to deflect the flamethrower that was going towards them. They both used their abilities to counter that powerful flamethrower and in the end it was the big blast with a draw. From the smoke Zack kicked Raido and Raido was forcefully get forced back to a distance, Mikazu used his Divine slash to attack the enemy but Zack enhanced his sword with his magic energy that gave the fire element boost to the weapon. Zack attacked with his weapon to stop Divine slash and he was successfully eliminated Divine slash and directly hit Mikazu. Mikazu went flying back forcefully and was lying down...
"Chloe! Right now!" said Mikazu.
"Yes! Haaaah!"
She was concentrating enough magic energy and she launched the powerful laser beam of Wind element towards the direction of Zack and there was no time to dodge or block because the attack was sudden.
The beam hit the Zack and exploded. We saw that Zack's whole body looked like it was slashed by the sword but it was the beam that exploded and also made some powerful wind cutters to damage him. Zack was hurt but was not showing any sign of giving up.
"You have really became a monster since last time we fought, huh?" said Raido.
"Orion! What should we do...!"
"Void spikes..."
I used my magic to hit him and Zack failed to deflect few of my attacks because of injuries. The spikes vanished after making some small holes in his entire body. I made sure not to pierce him completely by accidentally, using my magic unconsciously sometimes can use more than half of my actual strength. I need to be careful and lower the output so that I don't kill them accidentally.
"You two will be my opponent so come on show me what you have got!" said Masked man.
It seemed like I won't be able to help Raido and Mikazu that much but Zack is weakened now so it should not be too hard for them. Both Raido and Mikazu stood up for the round two. Meanwhile Chloe and me were ready to attack.
He used his Mind's eye towards us, I deflected them all and rushed towards him. He immediately focused all his Mind's eye in one point to unleash the laser beam at me and he launched it. I stepped aside quickly and Chloe already prepared her wind beam and launched it and both attacks got cancelled by a blast. Through smoke Masked man tried to attack me but I was dodging and blocking his attacks.
"You are quite strong, huh? You might be even stronger than your fellow Arbiter Zack. I will make sure to let Zander control you!"
"...."
I didn't said anything in return and made forceful opening with my attacks, I gave him few slashes with my sword. He looked to be struggling but his pace was reducing because of his own injuries. Finally I slashed him, forcing him back but he made more distance on purpose. He used sword beam at me but I cancelled the attack with my normal attack.
"Heh interesting, you blocked my attack without having to use any skills even though that was enhanced with so much magic energy in it."
I didn't realised that his attack was strong, If that's the case then maybe I should have just used my own technique against the attack to look like I'm struggling too.
"Chloe." I called her
"Yes I'm ready!"
Chloe launched her attack Hurricane. This attack is strong thanks to Chloe's magical strength and her Rod.
"Well, it's troubling..."
He got sucked in by the hurricane and was hit by the wind that acted like sword in the hurricane.
"Huff...huff Damn it..! Such strength!...."
He was weakened but he seemed to enjoy it for some reason.
"Kratos! Damn it, that young lady is above average!"
So the Llyod was not his name but Kratos. Kratos stood up again, I must admit Anti-Libra members are sure strong.
We saw that Zack was sent flying back by the attack of Raido. Zack also stood up but his condition worsened.
As expected of Chloe, I was right to pick her up. If I wanted I would have ended this all useless fight less then one minute but I must refrain from doing it unless it's extremely necessary.
"We should probably back down and escape, we can't beat them like this. That young girl over there is dangerous and furthermore she is being protected by her allies so it's hard to attack her too." adviced Zander in panic.
"Don't worry....."
"No you should not do that, you know what will happen after that. You haven't mastered it so you don't need to do anything reckless!" said Zander.
"Haha, you are truly afraid, huh? Well yeah maybe I should not. Sorry I got carried away Zander."
Zander somehow looked relieved somehow, does that mean there is a hidden ace up their sleeves? But it seems that they haven't mastered it and it might backfire according to what Zander said.
"Why do you look so calm as if nothing happened?..." asked Zander.
"Hm, yes maybe we should-....huh?"
Kratos seemed to be confused by something.
"What happened?"
"Zander, do you feel another presence here...?"
".....Now you mention it I feel faint presence...."
Apparently there was another appearance that was hiding, according to those two it seemed like this presence was unknown even to them.
"Show yourself...." Kratos demanded.
"Well, I was personally planning to come and just watch but I m being revealed. Maybe I underestimated you two..." said the person in question.
"You!" Raido was shocked.
"Lord Jystice! What are you doing here...!?" asked Mikazu.
"Why? I can't come here?"
"N-no but...."
"I was personally looking for the culprit....."
"...!?" Everyone looked shocked to see Jystice participating himself.
"Lord Jystice...but..." Chloe looked clueless.
"Well you Arbiters are quite something, especially both you Mikazu and Orion. You both just joined a few weeks ago and you are already doing great job....I thought you all might fail to find the culprit so I thought I should take care of the culprit but then suddenly I saw you all trying to solve this by yourselves. That's why I was personally evaluating you all myself. But I will handle from here because you all can't fight that much not because you all can't fight due to injuries or anything but you all exhausted your energy." said Jystice
"If we just kill the leader it will be the high achievement, besides I heard former leaders were all weak and he must be same." said Kratos.
Jystice turned to them and said.
"Well, Yeah I'm weak but-"
"Ugh...!?"
Jystice used the Light beam towards the Kratos and in an instant it pierced through his chest. That attack was not only fast but was strong enough to break through the defences.
"But that's what most people think, that's all." he completed his sentence.
"Kratos!!?"
"....ugh.....let...let's... escape....."
"Oh, you won't-"
He used the Light beam and knocked out Zander in an instant and made little explosion. The spell wear off from Zack and he went unconscious.
"Zack!"
Raido took Zack behind his back and put him down to the nearby safe place.
"....ugh...argh!.....damn...it...maybe....I.... should...have...used....it... earlier.." said Kratos.
"Whatever it is but you can't unleash it now, so basically you lost now I will heal you so that atleast you won't die. I will take you back to the base and let interrogation squad to interrogate you."
"Look, Orion it's like before! His body is reacting, he will be exploded!"
"I won't let t-" I suddenly went silent.
"Huh? I didn't exploded?"
"Of course I deactivated the spell on you." replied Jystice.
"Thats some high level...of...agic..."
Kratos went unconscious.
"That's it!? We won?" Chloe who looked to be surprised.
"As expected of Lord Jystice..." said Mikazu.
"Let's take them back with us and you all report what you have done, then you will be awarded for your hard work. After that you can rest for a while. This fight is over." said Jystice."
We did exactly what we were told to do, in the middle of the night we went through forest while Jystice was making sure we are safe and we finally reached Libra base.
"Thanks for your hard work, you all will be rewarded with money for what you did. Zack is being healed by experts right now and will be completely fine after 2 to 3 days later."
"Phew..." Raido showed the sign of relief.
"I have evaluated your performances and you all did better than I expected so your ranks will be increased. You can rest in Libra base for today since it is night and this report will be made public tomorrow." said Jystice.
We were showed our rooms to rest for tonight.
"It's not good for health If I don't sleep on time, but I guess I can rest for a while since there is still time." I muttered.
Someone knocked on my door.
"Who is it?" I asked.
"It's me, Chloe! Can I come in for a while if you don't mind?" said Chloe from outside.
Apparently it was Chloe who knocked the door.
"Yes, come in.." I replied.
"Thank you.."
"So what did you need?" I asked her.
"Well...I"
"You can sit on the chair..."
"Ah thank you..."
"....."
"First of all, I want to thank you for what you did earlier...."
"If you are talking about healing your wounds, then it's not big deal. We should help each other afterall." I replied.
"Yeah....but I still appreciate your help..."
I don't know why she thanked me, it was obvious you would help since you are allies.
"I wanted to ask what you think about Anti-Libra's true intentions?"
"True intentions?"
"Yes, didn't you noticed? If Anti-Libra wanted they could have just been hidden until the Ancient Demon was resurrected, don't you think it's strange?"
"Maybe they are confident enough to hide from Libra while trying to resurrect the Demon? Besides they want Arbiters dead to weaken the strength of Libra."
"Maybe but it looked as though their main intention is different because as you already know there is no need to go through these troubles to keep attacking places and Arbiters or others since Ancient Demon is enough to destroy everything. Not only that it scares me to just think that they might know the way to control the Demon and use it as their weapon..."
Normally people would think that there's no benefit in resurrecting the Demon because It will just simply destroy everything along with Anti-Libra too. People would also think that Anti-Libra wants to finish off Libra before they resurrect the Demon because Anti-Libra know the risks themselves and so Libra took the initiative to take down Anti-Libra while thinking that their plans are nothing but dangerous for both sides.
"I hope it all ends without suffering...."
"Don't worry about it....Libra is strong as you already may have witnessed it. The leader is also strong and smart enough to take down criminals....We will win and also I-No the whole Libra will try to bring back your sister..." I made sure she doesn't feel fear.
"Orion.....Thanks I feel like a little bit relieved, I should not lose hope..." Chloe seemed like she was fine now.
Her expression looked cheerful now, she was smiling believing that working together with pure heart of justice, she can bring back her sister while bringing down Anti-Libra and maintain peace. A common goal among those who wants to maintain peace...
"By the way...." she looked a little upset.
"...?"
"I never saw you smiling or expressing yourself, are you really alright? Do you need some help?" asked Chloe.
So she is concerned about my expressions, or rather me.
"Are you still worried about that you don't remember your past? Please don't worry about it, as I said before there are many people who suffer but it doesn't mean you have to give up on life so I want you to feel happy and smile too!"
"..."
"If you feel like you want to share something to relieve your stress feel free to come and I will listen to what you want to express!" she advised me like a doctor...
"Yeah I will, whenever I feel down I will take your help...."
She smiled.
"Alright I guess you must be tired, I apologise for interrupting you..."
"It's alright..."
"Okay goodnight, Orion!"
"Goodnight..." She shut the door and left.
"I can't express myself, huh?" I muttered.
I really wonder myself but I never got any answer to why I don't feel anything at all. There were many worse case scenarios in my life but I never felt anger, hate, jealously, fear, sadness or any other negative emotions. This same goes with positive emotions as well, the moments that are considered as "good moments" never left a impression on me. I never felt any kind of emotions or feelings. Technically I do have emotions but I can't feel them or more like I don't have any opportunities to feel those emotions. For example, If you add some water in the glass then the water will flow out quickly if you keep filling it but If you fill a tank then It might take huge amount of water to fill the tank and maybe because of that I'm unable to express anything...
"I should probably sleep n-"
Someone knocked my door again.
"Who is it?"
"Can I come inside your room brother."
This voice is...
"You can come in, Raido."
"Thank you for letting me in.."
"So what did you want?"
"Woah woah you want to get to the straight point, huh?"
"....."
"I'm sitting on the chair..."
Without asking my permission he sat on the chair.
"I saw Chloe leaving just now...." He grinned for some reason.
"And?"
"So you did something suspicious? Huh?" His grinning was on peak level, though I don't understand what he meant.
"She was here to talk for a bit." I replied.
"Heh, I mean like you know you two might be enjoying..." He grinned as though something looked funny.
"....I don't understand what you meant but can you tell me in details what you think?"
"..!?" Raido seemed like he was surprised by my reactions.
"Heh...hahaha you are a funny one huh? Nevermind leave it." He urged me to ignore.
I don't know what he meant but If that's what he wants I should not probably push forward.
"Now, let's have some fun. Wanna play some card games?"
"At this time?"
"Yeah! If you don't mind then."
"But..."
"Alright it's decided then!"
He forcefully gave me the cards to shuffle and play, he decided things on his own. I didn't had any choice and I felt like I'm being cornered. I played with him and after few minutes Raido opened his mouth.
"You may already know that Zack is my buddy and we were rivals before or accurately even now..."
"Yes, you said something like he defeated you before..."
"That's right and we became both rivals and best friend...."
"What about it?" I asked.
"Actually when I said he defeated me in hand to hand combat, it was half truth and half wrong..."
"...." I listened quietly.
"I already told Chloe and Mikazu and now I want to honestly tell you too..."
"....."
"Before we both met, I lived in a village where we were so poor that we struggled so much back then....I had my mother and father but they both were not physically fit to work and so I worked for money when I was 10 years old....It was 9 years ago..."
That means it happened around the time when I was around 8 years old maybe.
"I struggled to get money....I thought we can't live much then I got a chance to enter the tournament to win in martial arts where any weapons were allowed. It was fortunate for me because I always learned the self defence from young age. I was around 14 around that time when this tournament held, I thought it was my chance to get the prize and use them to feed my parents atleast who were not getting enough food..."
This is the past that Raido faced.
"Then, I entered the tournament that offered so much money to live a whole one year without having to do anything. I beat all of the guys there and entered the finals and Zack was my opponent. We fought each other and the fight got heated so much that we didn't realised that how much time was already spent. It was our longest fight and I won..."
"...That means you were the winner...."
"That's exactly what I thought back then but then I realised that Zack was not using his all strength on me. I felt angry but he did so because he wanted to let me win and get those money back to my parents. I heard that Zack always saw me practicing alone with my weapon and he knew about my parents conditions. I knew he did that for me but I felt like he looked down on me...."
So that's what he meant by looking down back then....
"I challenged him again and asked him to go all out and after few minutes I was lying unconscious on the ground...."
He was thinking about that time while explaining...
"He said that I can become Arbiter to feed my parents. I tried to reject this offer but he said he will train me well to become Arbiter...and he said that using just brute force was not the only key to win. He said those words to warn me too that becoming Arbiter needs brain too...He wanted to train me to become independent enough to help my parents so he provided me basic education and all stuff necessary to become Arbiter."
It seemed like Zack acted as the mentor and friend at the same time.
"Since then he became my mentor, rival and a best friend. I admitted my defeat too only to challenge him back...."
"...."
"And that's why I want to say thank you Orion.....Chloe, Mikazu and you, because of you guys I was able to save my friend, I came here to thank you, if you guys ever need any help I will sure to be there for you all to help you and repay my debt."
He was bowing deeply to thank me and showing high level of appreciation. He may have already thanked Chloe and Mikazu after telling his story. It's third time he told...
"We will help each other and bring down this weak looking Anti-Libra! Hahahah." He said while showing off his muscles to show his determination.
"That's good..."
"And can't you show you are happy? Or are you shy?"
"....."
"Okay just kidding, anyway goodnight brother and I hope you make up with Chloe." He grinned again.
"Goodnight..." I replied while not understanding what he meant by making up and then grinning.
He slammed the door too forcefully, he didn't meant to do that but it seemed like he didn't noticed he used his brute force on that poor door...
"This time no one would disturb me, I guess..." I muttered.
I was on the bed looking at the ceiling with my blank eyes.
"I have knowledge of emotions but I can't feel them at all...."
I stopped thinking about it and started thinking about my plans.
"It seems like you can't predict anything so perfectly...." I muttered.
I guess I should gather some information on Ryuji who's original name is Regal. Voila is with Ryuji and their friendship is increasing day by day meanwhile Curie doesn't seems to be getting any information or orders or any kind of contact from Anti-Libra.
"Do they know that Curie is exposed without letting her know...?" I muttered.
Well I don't need to care about that for a while and besides I didn't noticed suspicious movements from Curie. I wonder what will be revealed from Kratos. Jystice said that his face was ripped apart that made his looks somehow scary or creepy for others so he always weared a mask and as for Zander, he also didn't revealed any information about Anti-Libra's plans. They both were tortured badly that normally people would give up and give information but that was not the case here. It would take some time I guess.
Today, I was able to witness the strength of Libra leader Jystice. His strength surpassed Kratos and he used single attack to defeat him.
I felt sleepy so I slept.
"Hm, It's morning now."
It was now morning and I went outside the room after refreshing myself and eating my breakfast and was making my way to the hall now.
"This is....." I muttered.
"Yo, goodmorning Orion."
"Goodmorning....what are you doing."
"Oh, yeah I was just serving the breakfast to the fellow Arbiters who stayed here for some reasons like us."
"So that breakfast was...."
"How did it taste, tell me honestly?" he asked.
"It was good...I guess."
"Really! That's good! I thought my food skills went down since I didn't served anyone except myself. So I wanted opinion, then I found someone for experiment..." He grinned and I somehow atleast understood why he grinned this time.
"It's cruel..." I said.
"Hahahah, don't be like that you liked it right?"
"I certainly liked it...."
But he used me...
"Alright I should also serve Zack now. He must be hungry that bastard can't do anything without me hahahaha."
He went ahead cheerfully. He really looked happy. Chloe was smiling while standing and watching the cheerful Raido. She must have felt good by watching people being happy. She also gave me a smile as if to say "it's nice to see people happy".
So basically this moment is about to be happy and enjoy a little short victory. But despite having that knowledge I was unable to detect any feelings, my face was expressionless as always, my heart didn't felt any excitement, joy or anything...
After few minutes later we prepared to go to our respective assigned cities. We said our goodbyes and Chloe and me started moving to Celestial city...
