Kapitel 91: The Battle Of Gaia Part 2

POV Widowmaker

I received an alert meaning the Covenant are starting their land invasion. I was quite nervous as this would be the biggest battle I had ever been a part of.

Jun: "Amélie are you ready?"

I take a deep breath and respond.

Amélie: "Yes, just a bit nervous. I know I can do this. Are you ready?"

Jun: "Don't worry too much I have seen your skills you'll do fine. As for me, I am ready. I have done this before. Just aim for the head and their shields will pop."

Amélie: "Got it."

Base: "All units prepare for combat. Covenant forces have made landfall and will arrive at the base in 6 minutes."

Amélie: "Well good luck."

Jun: "Thanks and good luck to you."

I end the call and go over my supplies. I was given a Pipboy that allowed me to carry a large amount of ammunition. I make sure my shield is running and that the Widow's Kiss is fully operable. I look through my scope and I see the first Covenant forces. Before I even take a shot numerous shots from the AATs begin bombarding the enemy positions. I move to aim toward the west where there are fewer AATs and I start to pick off any Elites I can see.

Valerica: "Amélie please try to hold off the Covenant forces to the south. They are attempting to bypass the main passage. They have only sent a few hundred."

Amélie: "Understood. Repositioning now."

I use my grappling hook to quickly swing around a tower to get to the south side. The South side is full of very narrow passages that make using it for an attack difficult. As I am swinging I feel air rush past me and I look up to see Durnehviir flying towards the West.

'I guess he will be handling the West for me.'

I arrive at the south wall and I can immediately see several Elites and Grunts making their way through the narrow passages. I don't wait and begin taking out everyone I can see. After around thirty minutes I had wiped out most of their forces but I was surprised when a few needles came at me. I didn't dodge all of them and my shield took a small hit. I quickly repositioned myself and I found out why I missed them.

'Idiot, I was told they can and will use cloaking devices. I should have used the upgraded vision mode to spot them.'

My Pipboy was able to tell me that there were only around 26 enemies left. I took out 7 from the range but I had to switch to submachine mode to face the remaining 19 at close range.

Elite: "AAAAWUBADUGH!!"

An Elite rushes me with an Energy Sword and I use the training I received from Rio to roll into the slash and stick a venom mine on the ground as I try to make more space between us. It exploded and 4 of them dropped almost immediately.

'I am glad I was able to redesign the Venom mines for the Covenant forces.'

I open firing at the few Elites trying to attack me. I have to jump away from my cover after they throw a few plasma grenades. I grab a Thermal Detonator and throw it at a gathering of a dozen.

BOOM

After the blast, I move to a new position. That blast should have drawn some droids to assist me.

Pew Pew

I am surprised by an attack and before I can dodge, my shield takes a lot of damage. I manage to get away before my shield breaks but I look at my Pipboy and what I see worries me.

{Shield: 12%}

I don't dwell on that for long as I can see through the smoke to see my pursuers. My Pipboy tells me that 4 enemies are left. I switch to sniper mode and take one down with a headshot before having to switch to CQC.

'One Energy Sword and the other two only have their guns.'

I throw my gun away activate my Vibroknife and rush at one with a gun. The one with a sword swings at me but I purpusely put his slash to intercept my target thus killing him. As the Elite is surprised by what happened I stick my knife into his eye, killing him instantly. Before his body can even drop I grab his Energy Sword and plunge it into the last enemy. Once I confirm they are all dead I take a minute to relax and retrieve my gun.

'That was tough. I should up my training a bit.'

As I am relaxing I see a squad of B2s approach.

B2: "Are you in need of assistance?"

Amélie: "No, I managed to defeat the enemy. Am I needed elsewhere?"

B2: "Negative. You are to remain in this sector until told otherwise. We are to assist you with holding this area. Where do you want us?"

Amélie: "Go to point 7. I will get back on overwatch."

B2: "Roger Roger."

POV Lex

I was blasting through the Covenant's armored forces and we were able to find they have quite limited numbers of tanks and other crafts. As I was blasting through another Wraith I was suddenly hit by a massive blast of energy. I was shot into a nearby hill.

BOOOM

'Ugh, that hurt. What hit me?'

I look up and I have to quickly fly up after another shot is fired at me. Once I get far enough away I see 8 Scarab Tanks all aiming at me.

Lex: "I guess they really want me gone."

I continue to dodge the plasma fire but eventually, I get hit again. This time I got hurt a decent amount and decided to use a new strategy. I used the ring to become invisible and I got behind the enemy tank line.

'Okay, now how does it go again?'

Lex: "In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night, No Evil Shall Escape My Sight, Let Those Who Worship Evil's Might, Beware My Power, GREEN LANTERNS LIGHT!"

A massive burst of energy was expelled from my ring, creating a massive energy beam that vaporized everything in its path. After the attack, I felt quite exhausted, so I decided to retire from the battlefield for now.

Valerica: "Was that beam of light your doing Lex?"

Lex: "Yes, but I exhausted most of my energy by doing so. I am coming back to rest for a bit. My attack should have bought us a bit of time."

Valerica: "Understood."

POV Padme

Padme: "Are you sure you want me to hold the enemy's advance outside the shield?"

Snake: "Absolutely. If you can hold them off we bombard them from a distance. When you get tired just retreat into the shield."

I nod and begin flying to the area where our casters would be in the best position to attack them.

'Okay, I can do this. I just have to stall them nothing more. Just remember your training.'

I start by creating some energy constructs shaped like large wolves. After that, I start strafing the enemy lines which causes them to stop and try to deal with me. I heard the sound of our artillery beginning to fire so I moved higher. As the artillery fire begins hitting their targets I grab many boulders and rocks from nearby and drop them on the enemy formations. Suddenly I am hit by something and I am blasted a few hundred meters away.

Snake: "Amidala are you okay?"

Padme: "Yeah just a little roughed up but otherwise okay. What hit me?"

Snake: "The enemy called in an orbital bombardment."

Padme: "What?! But they still had troops in the area."

Snake: "I guess they were willing to sacrifice the soldiers to remove you. Now can you get back in the fight as the enemy just dropped 10 Scarab Tanks and they have begun marching towards the shield."

Padme: "I heading there now. I may need to use the big attack if it means we can destroy the tanks."

Snake: "Got it. Sendak is prepared to teleport you back here if you faint."

Padme: "Thanks. I will see what I can do."

I fly at high speeds towards the enemy armor column and it doesn't take long for them to see me. I have to swerve through waves of AA fire but I eventually get close enough to use the attack I have planned. I begin forming the construct. I make a Zillobeast and I enter it to pilot it.

ROOOOOARR!!!

10 Minutes Later...

I had caused a lot of damage but I was getting tired. It seemed after the first Orbital Bombardment Monika had begun jamming communications from the planet.

Padme: "This is Amidala. I am returning to base."

I leave the construct but I leave it activated to cause chaos to cover my retreat. By the time I get halfway back to base, I feel my construct get destroyed and look back to see a massive shockwave from a concentrated Orbital Bombardment.

'Odd, I wonder I Monika made them waste the ammo destroying the construct? I better get back before the next wave lands.'

POV Sebas Tian

Sebas: "With the majority of the enemy's armored vehicles destroyed we should be able to stall them long enough to decrease their numbers. Should we just send out all of our Undead?"

Snake: "Not yet. Let the enemy gather more troops on the ground. We need them to deploy so many troops they won't be willing to bombard the planet. Will you be able to hold off the enemy at this location?"

He points to an area on the outskirts of the shield just outside it. The area is also a passage that leads into the base. It's also the best possible area to attack from. I stroke my beard and think about my abilities and how long I could last.

Sebas: "I can but I won't last more than an hour even with my healing supplies."

Snake: "It will be enough. Our tanks and casters will be constantly bombarding their rear guard making them more desperate to get past you. Lastly, with you being near the shield, you should be able to duck in and out of protection."

Sebas: "Even doing that, I will only last one hour at most before I exhaust myself."

Snake: "I will take what I can get."

After some more discussion, I go to the position to prepare for the enemy. I don't have to wait long as I see the first enemy approaching the shield. I hold the DC-15 I was given to use for long-range attacks. However, I could use wind pressure attacks from striking hard enough that would use more energy for only decent results.

'Just a bit closer.'

I open fire and take out many of the enemy in the front while artillery begins striking the enemy's backline. Once they got closer I was able to stow the blaster and rocket into their lines with my fist.

Sometime Later...

Crunch

An Elite's head explodes after I punch it. I was breathing fairly heavily and my combat suit had been damaged heavily. I had been fighting nonstop for almost an hour and a half and I wasn't certain how much longer I could go on.

Paarthunax: "Yol Toor Shul!"

Suddenly a massive stream of fire ignites the enemy before me.

Paarthunax: "Rest young Dovah. I shall take over from here."

I nod and start walking back to base.
