Kapitel 136: DEFEND YOURSELF

Abigail gently tapped her fingers on her thigh, the whole atmosphere was tense after Xavier's last words. He had his eyes fixed on her intently and it made it hard for Abigail to say or think about anything right now. But when she finally gathered up the courage, she thought to say a joke to melt the ice berg.

"You mean like the movies uh?" Abigail asked jokingly trying to kill the tension but she could see clearly that her joke didn't sound funny to Xavier's ears.

"But how am I a target, it's not like you love me or anything like that, it's a contracted marriage and so it would be a stupid move to kidnap me" Abigail said reasoning the whole thing out. If what Xavier said was true about his rivals wanting to come after her, they won't have any need to since she and Xavier didn't share a relationship that binds him to care if she goes missing.
