Pax was already up and munching happily on yesterday's apples. My wolf liked her for some reason, although I did worry about Grace taking her into the human world. Because no matter what my alpha did, Pax was never going to leave her side. Once a Fae swore their allegiance, there wasn’t a force on heaven or earth that could make them change their minds…

I breathed more easily, as Grace continued to sleep. She was exhausted and after last night's nightmare – followed by her confession – she deserved it.

When she’d avoided me at dinner, I’d almost convinced myself that I’d made a mistake coming back. That she’d found her next “hero” – someone who didn’t repulse her or was hideous to look at. But after listening to her, I began to realize that she was more like me than I thought.
