The court case
Day 8: 9 am
Marcus Hemmings
Everyone was sitting in the courtroom. It was now the turn of Marcus Gates to tell his story to the court. Marcus sat unnerved he hoped he didn’t screw this up for Avery, they’d all got different lawyers. He took the stand he had been in a briefed from his solicitor for four two last night to go through what is to be expected of him in court and to go through his story of events once again before calling it a day and heading home. Mr. Hatfield had spoken briefly about what to expect from the other two lawyers; Mr. Harfard and Mr. Greeves was sly and would stop at anything to make his plaintiffs look the good guys and him the bad guy. ‘So Mr. Gates. Today I would like to talk to you about Mr. Thompson and Mr Benson.’ He looked at Marcus through his ice coloured eyes and his big dark eyebrows. ‘I believe that you and Mr. Thompson know each other?’
‘Yes sir.’
‘How do you know Mr, Thompson?
‘We met at college.’
