Kapitel 8: Partners

Peter carefully placed Dr. Connors in an abandoned warehouse, binding the Lizard so thoroughly with webbing that even a superhuman would struggle to move.

Seeing Dr.Connors was unconscious, Peter muttered, "Sleep tight. We'll fix you tonight."

He then sealed the warehouse doors with extra webbing from the inside, ensuring Connors couldn't escape.

Then, with a quick swing, he exited through a window.

He also saw the situation at school through Gwen, everyone was send to home and Gwen also covered for his sudden disappearance.

The school had been declared closed for three days following the attack.

Uncle George also came to the school after hearing about the emergence of the lizard and a new vigilante.

Peter began to made (Swing) his way to Gwen, who was waiting near uncle George's car.

**Outside of Midtown high**

Peter walked to Gwen who is angry at him. She is standing near the car alone.

Gwen's face was still flushed with anger and the moment he come in front of her, she punched his shoulder and looked at him with a sharp glare.

"You've got some nerve, Peter!" she snapped, clearly still upset about how he'd controlled her earlier.

Peter winced, rubbing his arm. "Yeah, I figured I deserved that."

"You do," she shot back telepathically, her mental voice tinged with both anger and concern.

Peter sighed. "I had to make sure your identity stayed safe, Gwen. You'd have done the same for me."

She crossed her arms and was still fuming but a small smile tugged at her lips. "Fine. But that doesn't mean you're off the hook, Spider-Boy."

"Spider-Man," Peter corrected with a teasing grin.

Gwen chuckled, and her anger seemed to soften. Peter took the opportunity to pull her into a gentle hug.

"We're partners now," he said softly. "That means sharing the burden, even if it means I have to take some punches."

Gwen sighed and rested her head on his shoulder. "You're lucky I like you, Parker."

Their moment was interrupted by Captain George Stacy, who had just returned from inspecting the damage at the school along with some officers. He raised an eyebrow at the sight of the two teenagers.

"I didn't know about this," he said, his tone light but curious.

Peter and Gwen quickly stepped apart, trying to act normal.

"Sorry, Dad," Gwen said sheepishly. "I was just waiting for Peter so we could head home."

George nodded, clearly suspicious but too tired to question further. After ensuring everything was fine, he returned to the station while Gwen and Peter headed home.

After they reached home, Peter's phone buzzed with a call from Aunt May.

Her voice was filled with concern. "Peter! I saw the news. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, Aunt May," Peter reassured her.

"I'm coming back as soon as I can," she said firmly.

"You don't have to rush. I promise, everything's okay," Peter insisted.

After a few more reassurances, the call ended, and Peter exhaled, grateful she wasn't pressing for more details.

At Gwen's house, a similar scene played out as her mother, Helen, fussed over her safety. Gwen managed to calm her down before retreating to her room.

However, when she opened the door, she froze. There was Peter, casually lying on her bed with a smug grin.

"What the hell are you doing here?" she whispered harshly, quickly shutting the door behind her.

Peter sat up, smirking. "Waiting for you."

Before she could respond, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her onto his lap.

"Peter!" she protested, struggling for a moment before reluctantly settling into a more comfortable position.

Peter chuckled. "Relax. We've got a lot to talk about."

Still blushing, Gwen sighed and asked, "Okay, what's the deal with the lizard? and Why was he after you?"

Peter's expression grew serious, "Dr. Connors is... the Lizard."

Gwen's jaw dropped. "What? You're kidding, right? Dr.Connors is the lizard?"

Peter nodded solemnly.

"How?" Gwen leaned closer. "Why?"

Peter exhaled deeply, "It's because of the serum. The same serum he and I worked on together."

"You worked on that serum? Peter, is that the project you were guys working on?"

Peter looked at her, "It started as a project to help people. Connors wanted to regrow his missing arm, and I wanted to become strong. You know about my weak body right, I wanted get a healthy body. At first, it was harmless—a way to replicate reptilian regeneration for human application."

"But?" Gwen prompted, her voice filled with unease.

"But," Peter continued, "the serum had... side effects. It worked, but it altered Connors' DNA, turning him into what we saw today. Not only that he thinks humanity is flawed. Weak. He wants to 'improve' it by turning everyone into a stronger, better species—like him."

Gwen's face twisted in horror. "He wants to turn people into lizards? That's insane!"

"I know," Peter said firmly. "And that's why we need to stop him. I'm going to reverse the serum and turn him back into Dr. Connors. But I can't do it alone."

Gwen sighed, "This is a lot to take in, Peter. Connors is... was a good guy. He always talked about helping people."

Peter's gaze softened. "I know. He's not a bad person, Gwen. The serum is messing with his mind, amplifying his worst instincts. That's why we need to act fast before he hurts anyone else."

Peter began to explain his plan that tonight they will go to Oscorp and make the cure and cure Dr.Conners.

Evening settled over New York, but the city's streets were far from calm. A monstrous lizard tore through cars and storefronts, its deep growls echoing between the buildings. Panicked citizens screamed as they scrambled to escape its path of destruction.

At Gwen's home, the television blared the breaking news of the lizard's rampage. Helen sat glued to the screen, her hand clutched over her mouth in horror. "Oh my God," Helen whispered.

Gwen who is coming down the stairs saw this and stood frozen. Telepathically, she reached out to Peter.

"Peter, Connors escaped! He's attacking the city again!"

"Damn, I think he somehow escaped. Don't worry I'll distract him. You need to head to Oscorp and make the cure."

Gwen hesitated. "But—"

"No buts, Gwen. You have to do it."

Nodding to him Gwen quickly turned to Helen, who was still fixated on the TV. "Mom, Peter and I have plans tonight. We'll be back soon, okay?"

Helen gave her a skeptical look but relented. "But Gwen that monster is causing havok outside. And after everything that happened at your school... I just—"

"I know, Mom, we are not going to that place. We are going somewhere else," Gwen interrupted, planting a quick kiss on her cheek. "I'll be fine."

Meanwhile, back at Aunt May's house, Peter told her the same story about having plans with Gwen. Aunt May hesitated as her worry was evident on her face.

"After what happened today? Peter, maybe you should stay in tonight."

"Aunt May," Peter said gently, "I'll be okay. Promise."

Reluctantly, she nodded, watching him leave with a sigh.

Soon, both of them made thier way to their respective locations.

Gwen reached Oscorp with ease, slipping into the building unnoticed using her comuflage. Once inside, she navigated through the familiar halls to the lab where she and Peter had worked on Connors' research. Peter's shared memories guided her steps, and she quickly located the original files on the serum.

"Found it," Gwen murmured to herself as she began working.

Through their connection, Peter shared every detail he could remember about the formula. It was like having him right there beside her, guiding her hands as she replicated the serum—this time, reversing its effects.

"How's it going?" Peter's voice interrupted her focus.

"It's going fast," Gwen replied, her fingers flying over the controls of the synthesizer. "Thanks to your memories, I should have the cure ready soon."

"Okay, got it."

Landing on a nearby wall, Peter who is in his black symbiote Spider-Man suit, surveying the destruction below. His eyes narrowed when he noticed something unusual about this lizard—it was different.

The body was leaner yet still muscular, and its movements, while aggressive, lacked the coordination he had seen in Dr. Connors.

As Peter observed, the lizard paused, turning its sharp gaze directly at him. Its reptilian lips parted, and a guttural, enraged voice escaped:

"Where is my husband, you bastard?"

Peter's eyes widened beneath his mask. "My god... Mrs. Connors?"

The lizard didn't wait for a reply. With a snarl, she grabbed a nearby car and hurled it at him. Peter flipped into the air, narrowly avoiding the projectile as it crashed into the wall behind him.

Landing on the ground, he muttered, "You've got to be kidding me. He turned his wife into a lizard too?"

Meanwhile, on the other side, Gwen was deep in the Oscorp labs. She moved swiftly, her hands a blur as she worked with precision, guided by the shared memories Peter had provided. The machine hummed to life as it synthesized the cure.

"Gwen," he called out telepathically, his tone urgent. "We've got a problem. It's not Connors. It's his wife, Martha Conners!"

"Peter," Gwen's voice echoed telepathically in his mind, "are you seriously telling me Martha Connors is the lizard rampaging right now?"

"Yeah," Peter replied, dodging another car hurled his way. "And she's got one hell of a throwing arm. Listen, Gwen, we need three doses of the cure. One for Connors, one for her, and just in case, a spare."

"Understood," Gwen said, adjusting the machine. "The cure's almost ready. Just hold her off a little longer."

"No problem," Peter said sarcastically as he swung to a lamppost, narrowly dodging debris. Turning to face Martha, he called out, "Hey, big and scaly! Over here!"

With a loud hiss, Martha charged, tearing through the street like a freight train. Peter led her through alleyways and streets, gradually drawing her closer to the abandoned warehouse where Curt Connors was still webbed up.

"Come on, Mrs.Conners," Peter muttered to himself. "Let's reunite the family."

As they neared the warehouse, Peter contacted Gwen again. "I'm almost there. How's it looking on your end?"

"The cure's ready," Gwen said triumphantly. "I'm heading out now. Meet me at the warehouse."

"Got it. Just hurry."

Peter swung into the warehouse through a high window, landing gracefully on the floor. He turned to see Martha bursting in through the entrance, her claws tearing through the metal doors as if they were paper.

She froze when her eyes landed on the unconscious form of Curt Connors, still bound and webbed. For a brief moment, recognition flickered in her reptilian eyes.

Peter stepped back, keeping a cautious distance. "Mrs.Conners, I know you're in there. I know this isn't you. We're going to fix this—both of you. Just hang on a little longer."

Martha growled, her instincts battling against any sense of reason. She lunged at Peter, but he expertly dodged, using his webbing to slow her movements.

"Come on, Gwen," Peter whispered under his breath. "Hurry up."

Outside, Gwen swung through the city, clutching a small case containing the vials of the cure. "Hold on, Peter. I'm almost there."
