Gymnasium.
When the students discovered that the rescue convoy had arrived outside the school, their emotions were unprecedentedly excited, looking forward with bated breath, and some even began to cry.
However, the convoy did not enter the campus but stopped at the school's main gate.
The soldiers on the vehicles were firing their guns, shooting towards the rear, and ignoring the sporadic zombies inside the school.
As the students were puzzled and confused, Abigail's phone rang.
"Dad."
Abigail answered the call, her voice choked with tears.
"Daughter, Dad's here, where are you?"
"I'm in the gymnasium, I see you!"
"Our soldiers are entangled with zombies. I see there aren't many zombies in the campus, can you come out? I'll send someone to pick you up."
"Sure!"
Before the call ended, the rich second-generation students took the lead in taking action, pushing and shoving to crowd towards the direction of the sedans.
"Move aside, move aside!"
Their sudden move inadvertently pushed a male student down, causing him to fall from the building without warning, leaving everyone stunned.
"Ah! My shoulder!"
The top-student male classmate screamed in agony.
"Stop shouting, we're coming down right now!"
The rich second-generation student who pushed him showed no responsibility, turned over the fence, and jumped towards the sedan below.
"Bang"
After landing steadily, he ignored the top-student on the ground and ran directly towards the main gate.
"I'm saved, I'm saved!"
He ran and laughed heartily.
"Bang"
Others jumped down one after another. When the fourth person landed on the car shed roof, he slipped and sprained his foot.
"Ah, my foot is sprained, help, save me!"
The rich second-generation kids are sophisticated egoists; they don't care about the life or death of others. If they can save their own lives, they consider it a stroke of great fortune.
David and the others finally snapped out of it and he barked an order.
"Get down now and run towards the school gate!"
The students were in chaos, like ripe apples falling, jumping onto the cars in groups.
There was more and more jumping off cars, and quite a few mistakes were made, with the sounds of painful screams from those who fell to the ground growing louder.
"My leg!"
"Help me, someone help me!"
Now everyone was looking out for themselves; even the top students didn't have much of a bleeding heart, except for 'boundless love' Abigail.
After jumping off the car, she didn't run first but went to help the injured top female student, but the two girls, weak as they were, couldn't run fast at all.
The nearby zombies had already launched an attack. Some girls, while running away, found zombies lunging at them. Even if they had weapons in their hands, their first reaction wasn't to fight the zombies but to squat down with their hands over their heads.
The outcome was self-evident: they were knocked down by zombies, bitten, chewed, and screamed incessantly. There were quite a few such cases.
After jumping down, David saw Abigail rescuing people and helplessly advised,
"It's not the time for this, run!"
"We're all classmates, I can't just ignore them!"
Abigail was still stubborn, and David was speechless.
Just then, a zombie lunged at them with its teeth bared.
"Go to hell!"
"Bang, bang."
David fired two shots; he was indeed a descendant of a soldier, with a very accurate aim. Two headshots, and the zombie fell at their feet.
"With me, you can rest assured. I'll clear the way for you!"
David fired at the zombies while shouting loudly:
"Are you guys stupid? Shoot, are you waiting to be eaten?"
The frightened students finally remembered they had guns in their hands, but these nerds, who only knew how to read and study, had never fired a gun before.
When zombies rushed at them, they didn't aim and just fired blindly with their eyes closed.
Surprisingly, a few nerds even injured their own people.
Among the student group, the best performers were Alice and Amelia.
Although they didn't have David's precision in killing, they were also brave enough to fire and killed a few zombies, performing much better than Abigail.
...
Sterling was still kite flying, and the number of ordinary zombies was decreasing, but the third-order zombies were still relentlessly chasing.
Just when Sterling thought he could kite the third-order zombie to death, he suddenly heard sporadic gunfire from the direction of the gymnasium's main entrance, and then the gunfire became denser and denser.
"They're starting to move!"
Some of the zombie group attracted by Sterling began to turn and run towards the direction of the gymnasium's main entrance. Even the third-order zombie seemed to be tempted, tilting its head and sniffing hard.
"Meat, meat! Hungry~"
As the third-order zombie was about to turn its head, Sterling quickly loaded bullets.
"You're mine, come back!"
"Bang"
A shot hit the back of the third-order zombie's head, splashing blood, but it still didn't break through the thick layer of flesh.
"Hungry~"
The third-order zombie was furious, raising the fire axe high and hurling it at Sterling with force.
"Damn!"
The axe spun through the air with a whoosh, accompanied by an unparalleled sound of breaking the wind as it came.
Sterling quickly leaped out of the way, and fortunately, the axe landed right where he had been standing just after he jumped.
With a "thud," the axe hit the concrete ground, creating a spider-web-like crack, a testament to the force behind the throw.
Sterling had just stabilized his position after a roll when he saw the massive body of the third-order zombie lunging towards him.
The distance between them was only about five meters. The fleshy mountain suddenly leaped into the air, its huge body blocking the sunlight as it pressed down like a colossal mountain.
"Damn!"
At the moment of the impending fall, Sterling jumped away with all his might.
"Rip!"
While dodging, the dagger did its job, slashing open the belly of the third-order zombie.
"Thud!"
The third-order zombie hit the ground, and a burst of air knocked Sterling flying. He tumbled a few meters before regaining his balance.
"Ptui, almost got crushed by you!"
Sterling rose to a half-crouch, and the third-order zombie also got up. It had a bloody, open wound on its belly, revealing its internal organs, with intestines gurgling and spilling out.
"Really disgusting!"
Sterling instinctively wanted to vomit, but the third-order zombie launched another attack, its intestines shooting straight towards Sterling as if its belly was a gaping maw of blood.
"Ah!"
Sterling was entangled by the foul-smelling intestines, being pulled towards the third-order zombie.
"Whoosh."
In the most critical moment, Sterling slashed through the intestines with a knife, causing pus, blood, and decaying flesh to spill onto the ground. The stench was overwhelming, making Sterling dizzy and causing him to retreat.
This big guy was formidable, seemingly unkillable, and even using its intestines for long-range attacks. How was he supposed to fight this?
As Sterling was in a dilemma, the intestines wrapped around his ankle again, tripping him up.
The surrounding ordinary zombies took the opportunity to pounce, getting closer and closer.
Was this how he would die?
The image of being bitten to death by zombies appeared in his mind, and fear arose.
I don't want to die!
A strong desire to live suddenly made Sterling think of lightning.
"System personal page."
When he saw that the 3-second cooldown was about to end, it was a glimmer of hope.
Sterling desperately swung the baseball bat to keep the lower-level zombies at bay, and his dagger took down the closest ones.
"2 seconds!"
The third-order zombie was just inches away, its huge body raising the axe high to strike.
"1 second!"
Just as the axe was about to fall.
The cooldown ended, the red text disappeared, and Sterling's mental strength returned to normal.
"Release!"
