A Night Visit

// Vergasta Village, Vestal Inn //

When we entered the Inn, a bell rang indicating a new customer entered the inn. A brunette woman's same appearance to Alicia but older also possibly the Innkeeper of this inn, standing behind the counter look at our direction as she tried to speak but immediately stop as her eyes color changes indicating activating eyes skill.

Alicia: "MOM! A new customer is HERE!"

That shook the Innkeeper to wake up and look at Alicia.

Innkeeper: "You don't need to shout Alicia, you are bothering the other customers."

Alicia realizes her mistake and looks at the direction to other customers, then she apologies while gracefully bows to the customers of their inn.

Alicia: "Sorry for the commotions."

Customer1: "Don't worry about it."

Customer2: "Yea, just be yourself."

'I think that she shouldn't apologies first since this place is tavern part of the inn.'

All the customers inside the Inn accepted her apologies while Kristal comes closer to the Innkeeper then pull the corner of Innkeeper's clothes. I walk towards the front of the counter and look at the Innkeeper.

Kristal: "Mom, mister Talon will staying here for a while."

The innkeeper looks at Kristal while showing a gentle smile.

Innkeeper: "I know sweetie, let me talk to him first."

The innkeeper looks at me with a gentle smile and she looks at me with curiosity.

Innkeeper: "Hello and welcome to Vestal Inn, my name is Lucia Vestal, the owner of this modest inn."

"Thanks for welcoming in, my name is Talon Ashley."

Lucia: "Are you staying here?"

"Yes, but I can ask the price for staying the night?"

Lucia: "If you are staying for the night, it will be two big coppers which include breakfast and add five small coppers for dinner."

'Pretty reasonable price even though I don't know yet but she is quite honest.'

"Ok, I will stay for the night at the corner room also add for dinner."

Lucia: "Sure, will rest now or later and tour around the village first?"

'I need to stay now since my <Transformation>'s illusion will be worn out and also reconfigure the system that I created.'

"I will rest now, can you give me the key to the room and show me the way."

Lucia: "Sure."

Lucia crouches down and stands up again after a few seconds as if she is getting the key to my room then she hands over the key to my room for today.

Lucia: "Here the key to your room and let my daughter led to your room. Alicia comes here."

Alicia: "Yes mom, what is it?"

Lucia: "Can you show the way to Talon's room at the west wing corner room."

Alicia: "Ok mom."

Hearing the conversation between mother and daughter made me remember Katarina and our mother's interaction in the past causing me to shed a single tear but immediately use my thumb to rub it off. Alicia looks at me with a smile.

'I wish I want that moment last forever but I need to move on.'

Alicia: "Please follow me, mister Talon."

"Lead the way and just call me Talon."

Alicia: "Sure, Big Brother Talon."

Alicia lead toward the room at the corner of the west wing of Vestal Inn, Alicia stop at the front of the door then looks at me smiling and show her hand as if indicating something.

"What is it, Alicia?"

Alicia: "I need the key and tip please."

'Well, she is quite cute for doing so I will give her one big copper.'

"Sure, here you go."

I pulled out my money pouch in my magical bag and the room key then gave her one big copper and room key on her hand. Alicia shows the brightest smile then turn around while she hides the money as she opens the door. She entered the room and showed me around the room.

After a few minutes showing around my room, she left the room but before that she asks me something that surprises me.

Alicia: "Big Brother Talon, why are you sad when my mother asks me to bring you to your room."

'I didn't think that she can see that even though I'm behind them.'

"Nothing, just something went to my eye then I just rub it off."

Alicia: "Mmm…"

Alicia is staring at my eyes intensely as she didn't accept my answer to her question. But she didn't pursue it anymore and left me in my room.

Alicia: "Ok, bye Big Brother Talon."

'Huff… any longer than this, she is might the first person to learn my identity also she is quite sharp when something emotional changes.'

[<Transformation>'s illusion worn off.]

Upon seeing that notice in front of me when I'm the only one who can see it, my body transforms back to my younger self and the room become bigger in my perspective. My head is aching due to that overusing it since it is quite over my limit but this is might a good thing since the majority of my training is always going over my physical and mental limits.

'I should get some rest first for later if I need to use <Transformation>'s illusion since I going to eat in a public area even a few people are eating.'

I immediately remove my equipment armor and my coat from my body leaving my shirt, pants, and mask then lay down on the bed and fell asleep. After a few hours of sleep, I wake up from my sleep and look outside through the windows to check what time is it. This is one of the perks living in a forest with different spirits, just learning different skills in daily life.

Seeing the time is just after sunset, I positioned myself in a meditative stance and quietly cultivate in my created cultivation technique based on my bloodline and different energies. When I was able to circulate a single round of energies through the cultivation technique, I immediately entered my mental world and started to train in soul cultivation that is created based on ancient void energy.

When I am unable to cultivate my mental energy, I started to reconfigure the system's program code based on my experience when I finally test it during my combat earlier but there is a constant annoyance. So, there are some changes I have done that are replacing, adding new, removing old, and modify the function. As for the system's program language is based on ancient language when I'm staying with Vanessa and Valerie in Mysticilia realm.

'I need to change this part… and modify this part to better performance… then remove this part since it quite annoying thing whenever I going to a fight or any situation that related to it.'

As for why I can do this at the beginning, which is very easy to explain due to my ability <Parallel Thinking> to divide my focus into two or more activities at once and now, my focus can divide into four activities due to my training. Also whenever my system is active, one of my focus is being used by it since I don't have any support for it yet.

About an hour and a half, I have finally finished the reconfiguration of my system. My sense of hearing is quite sensitive due to my training with other spirit kings as a requirement and the same to my other senses, it is quite noisy in the tavern since I can hear where I am.

'Finally, I manage to finish it and it is almost time to get dinner but it is quite noisy outside, it might be a full house tonight in the tavern tonight.'

'But Ughh… it is noisy at the dining room right now.'

Then I heard knocking about three times and Alicia's voice at my door.

Alicia: "Big Brother Talon, your food is ready!"

'Her mother might be sent her to call me since-'

I look outside to see what time is it and saw the moon is already up in the sky indicating that it is about nine o'clock in the evening.

'Whoops… I didn't know that time is already passed quite quickly… Anyway, I need to reply to her but before that.'

'<Transformation>'s illusion'

I used my ability again to disguise myself and change the color of my mask then walk toward the door and open it then I saw Alicia waiting for me to answer her.

"Ok Alicia, I will eat in the dining room, and thanks for reminding me."

Alicia: "Ok, I will find an empty chair and table to reserve since many people are eating there."

After that she left to find a place for me to eat, I just shake my head and just follow her towards the tavern part of the inn. When I reach the tavern, it is quite full of knights and soldiers that I have met previously and if I didn't use my disguise before coming here then I might found out earlier. As the one who saved them they might ask me a favor or they have a grudge on me.

Alicia: "Big Brother Talon! Here is your table!"

Lucia looks at Alicia who shouts to get my attention but didn't scold her since it is busy. And Alicia waving her hands to let me see where she is and when I spotted her, I have gone to her and see an empty chair and table at the corner. I also saw Kristal going here while carrying a tray of food, possibly my food.

Alicia: "Kristal will bring your food here, so wait for her to eat Big Brother Talon."

"Sure, I will wait here."

After a few seconds Alicia goes to another customer to list some orders, Kristal brought my food for dinner and place it on my table gently. She looks at me with a smile before she left to return to the counter.

Kristal: "Here your dinner Big Brother Talon."

"Thanks."

Kristal returns to the door to the kitchen, I remove the lower half of my mask then place it beside my food and started to eat the food in front of me which is Herbal Roasted Chicken with side Mash-Potato and gravy including a mug of hot chocolate as I ordered earlier before going to my room. As for how I know what the menu is, I asked Lucia to give me a list of the menu even though it already placed on the wall which is unable to spot it until she shows it to me.

It was delicious, when I have finished, I asked the second more and the doorbell rings which indicate someone enters the inn. I heard a voice is somewhat familiar then I look at them since they are group, I look at the door and saw the scarlet red female knight with a scarlet red noble girl, brunette commoner woman, and a blond male knight from earlier this afternoon. Alicia saw the newcomers and walk towards them to bring them to empty tables and chairs.

Alicia: "How many people?"

Maid?: "Five people to eat and can we ask to rent a room?"

Alicia: "You can ask my mom about it and please follow me to your table please."

I look away and return to my eating but continue to listen to gather some info. Alicia brought them to the table behind me and ask them what their order is then going to counter to tell Lucia the previous request. My heightened hearing pick up something important which the male knight asked the female knight.

Male Knight?: "Princess Matilda, are you going to stay here in this inn?"

Princess Matilda: "I already told you that call me Lady or Knight, Philip."

'So, the female knight whom I saved previously is princess knight with her little sister.'

Noble girl?: "Sister Matilda, do you think we can find our savior is here in the village?"

Matilda: "Primula, I know you want to meet our savior but I didn't know if we're going to meet him again, since he possibly left earlier to another location but we can ask around tomorrow."

'Mm… Why they are trying to find me?'

'… No, I won't bother about that but I need to leave this village earlier or later than them.'

Philip: "But Princess! I-"

Matilda: "Stop! I already asked you to don't call me princess but Lady Matilda."

By this time Alicia already talk to her mother, Lucia to go to the princess's table at their request and probably heard the conversation going on. I look at her on what she going to do, if she going to ignore that Matilda is a princess and asked them as if they are just noble going incognito or she will announce.

'Based on my first expression on Lucia, she will probably ignore the conversation and talk to them as a normal customer.'

Lucia: "Good evening guests, you asked my daughter Alicia if you can rent a room here but let me get your order first."

I return to eating my food while the group told their orders while Lucia writing it down on a small notepad then called Alicia to pass the list to Kristal who is cooking right now inside the kitchen then the maid asked Lucia about the room.

Maid?: "Mrs. Innkeeper, there is a room for three people?"

Lucia: "Please call me Lucia and yes, there a free room but we need to add another bed first but what about this young knight, he will be also staying here in my humble inn?"

Matilda: "Please call me Matilda, this is Primula, my little sister and this is Elaine, our maid."

Even though I wasn't looking but still feeling my surround, Matilda pointed at the girl who has same features as hers but at the younger side wearing a noble winter outfit then pointed at the brunette commoner woman who is wearing a common winter outfit and lastly the male who with them wearing a knight armor.

Matilda: "… Lastly this is Philip who is our escort and he won't be staying here since he will be staying with the other who is camping outside the village. Thanks for welcoming us, Mrs. Lucia."

'She probably guesses that Lucia kept their secret and let them be incognito in her inn.'

Lucia: "Then I wouldn't worried about it anymore. I will just ask someone to help you bring an extra bed to your room."

Philip: "Would you let me help them bring the extra bed?"

Lucia: "No, I have already had in mind who going to help me with this task."

Upon saying it, I felt Lucia's gaze on me then I look at them, I saw Lucia smiling at me while Philip is being ignored and other girls felt confused since they thought I'm only a customer which they are right about it.

'I knew it, she going to ask me to do something since she might already be learned that I already listening in.'

"What is it Lucia?"

Lucia: "Oh nothing, just asking a favor that you can help them to bring a bed to their room."

'Why are you already asking me a favor even though we just been recently acquainted?'

'It is possible… no but I will do what she asked for now.'

"Sure, I can do it but I need someone who can help me."

Philip: "Then Le-"

Lucia: "Thanks and I'm sure that you can do it without any help."

Matilda: "Ah… We don't need the extra bed since me and my sister will share the same bed."

Lucia: "Oh… Are you sure about that? Our bed is quite small for two people to fit."

Elaine: "Please don't worry about it, we will arrange the beds to create a large enough space for three people to sleep in."

Lucia: "Are you sure about that?"

Matilda: "Yes, we are sure."

Lucia: "I will let you be but how long you are going to stay?"

'Well, I probably won't listen to them for a while and I need to gather more information.'

Knowing that I won't be helping them and their conversation probably useless for me. When I felt Lucia's gaze for a moment, I have returned my attention to the group behind me again since she is still talking to them also Kristal and Alicia brought them two trays of food each.

Lucia: "I don't know what you're talking about Miss Primula but there is the same person which a bit different appearance than you describe and older than you describe."

'Ok… that might be directed at me… it is possible that she… No, probably not… unless she sees aura which that only that disguised when I entered this village.'

I just shook my head from my thinking and just resume eating then removing my attention on them. After a few seconds to minutes, I finish my food and drink my hot chocolate until the mug is empty. When I just finished drinking my mug of hot chocolate, I go to the counter to pay the extra food that I ate previously to Lucia and when I'm about to go to my room, Lucia stops me and asks me something.

Lucia: "Talon, can I ask for a favor later?"

"Why don't you tell right now?"

Lucia: "It is better to be private since it involves secrets."

'Why do I felt like I getting it in a troublesome situation?'

"What secrets?"

Lucia looks around first checking if someone tried to spy on this conversation in the first place. When she confirms no one spying on us, she whispers a couple of secrets of mine like she knows that I'm currently in disguised and what is my true appearance.

'Yep… I truly got in trouble after all.'

"So, where are you going to talk about it?"

Lucia: "In your room, so left the door to unlock and wait for me until Alicia and Kristal goes to sleep."

"And when is going to be?"

Lucia: "When I finish closing the tavern, is will be the time for Alicia, and Kristal goes to sleep."

"And when your tavern going to close since I need to sleep early."

Lucia: "Don't you worry about that, I will be closing it on half-past nine o'clock in the night."

Lucia just waves off my worries then she returns to her customers as I went back to my room. When I have returned to my room, I immediately remember something important which is. Also I remove the effect of <Transformation>'s illusion upon closing my door and place some magic barriers.

'I forgot to ask Lucia about taking a bath or shower.'

'… I will ask her later then tomorrow morning I will take a bath or shower which is available in this inn.'

After that, I sat down on my bed and getting to meditative position to cultivate with my body and soul cultivation before Lucia goes to my room.
