Kapitel 17: Where to start from

Everyone, but Mark, in particular, was terrified of it.

Before he could object, Serena had signaled for him to release her. She had already arranged some items in her small purse.

Mark's only query was, "Where are you going to stay? Are you going to stay with your parents?"

She just retorted, "No."

She resisted telling him more. After witnessing him transform from a wolf, she wasn't prepared to see him or live with him.

No matter how accepting she was in general, it wasn't enough for her to see what she saw and accept it at this time. She needed time.

Mark sighed and fell on the bed, after remembering all that.

"Do you not desire or want answers? Don't you want to know why everyone isn't trying to explain things to you?

Don't you want to know why? You aren't going to barricade yourself in here for the rest of your life, no matter what.

Furthermore, if he had intended to hurt you, he long ago would have done so," the priest had said during his previous visit. He was calm while he tried to talk some sense into her.

He already knew his nephew wasn't a human- that much was clear to her.

Along with what the Priest talked to her about, she had been reflecting for the three months since leaving them.

Judith reached inside her pocket with her free hand.

She got dressed in a stunning white flowery dress that fitted her perfectly. She did the neat braiding of her hair herself.

It reminded her of how her husband enjoyed seeing her wear her style, including her clothes and hair.

She was a simple woman who delighted in even the smallest act of kindness. In contrast to who and what she formerly was. Even though he hardly knew her in that friendly way, Mark liked who she was now.

Judith impatiently awaited the call to go through. The first, second, and third rings were audible to her.

"Sweet pea?" The other end's voice was audible. His voice carried both happiness and surprise. As if he wasn't sure of who was calling him. He didn't expect it to be her.

Without waiting for Judith to clarify that she had phoned, Mark said, "I missed you."

She mused as she fiddled with the hem of her skirt and also replied, "Me too."

Mark's car had been parked in front of her apartment at the time- Peace's. She briefly moved out so Judith would have plenty of time to process her discovery.

And ever since, Mark had been coming more than once every day, and when he was unable to, Peace or Serena took his place.

Although Judith now permitted her parents to see her, they were still unaware of the full extent of what she saw.

He asked, pausing to take a big breath before continuing, "Can I come inside? If you don't want me to, I can understand. That is if only you wish to see me. Until then, I'll wait. You phoned me first, and that's a positive beginning."

Judith thought about it carefully. When she decided to call him, she wasn't sure what to expect. She wanted to see how he was doing because she missed him.

She couldn't help but feel sorry for her husband now that she was starting to recover totally from her shock.

After all, he was injured during the attack as well.

Judith wouldn't have left behind a body or even a trail of death if it weren't for him. The two wolves would've devoured her.

"How is your wound doing?" She suddenly wanted to ask him a question. And that was the first thing that came to mind.

"Three months and two weeks have passed. We werewolves heal quickly after a fight," After speaking the truth, Mark began to regret it.

As they both considered what to say next to one another, there was a pause. Mark appeared to be walking on eggshells virtually the entire time.

"I'm ready to return home," she suddenly declared.

Her husband was startled by that and immediately jumped out of his car to knock on the gate.

His smile wouldn't stop, and his heart was bursting with excitement. The nervous, fluttering butterflies in his stomach fled away as joy overtook the place of his heart's pain. He was ecstatic.

She was ready to return home. That statement demonstrated that she was to hear whatever they would tell her and accept her husband for who he was.

She got prepared to confront what had previously terrified her.

She had also missed her family, including her parents and her husband. Because she was the only child, her family gave her everything they had.

Everyone who knew her, including Mark's father and aunt, showered her with numerous gifts since childhood.

Since she now understood who her husband was, she was starting to understand why they valued her even if she didn't know some of them.
