Kapitel 11: Fighting the Griffin

Serena's heart skipped a beat when Judith arrived home so early. What brought them together? They had discovered one monster who had joined them in the timeline.

The creature, by chance, had not yet located the others and was alone.

It turned out to be a griffin.

Serena at first couldn't have recognized the identity.

However Rena had been whanged across the battlefield by that thing throughout the conflict. It had left a faint mark on the tummy with its tail.

That creature could never escape her gaze. She began to remember its features even though it had been reborn as a beautiful young woman.

Serena could only think about Mark at the time. As a result, after she notified everyone, some of the members rushed to her while the remainder stood vigil over Judith.

When Mark learned of this, he rushed over, and they battled it together.

Serena had sensed something wasn't right during her stay at the coffee shop. Rena wanted to change into her wolf form, so her body started burning and itching. She did it only if she felt threatened.

As a result, she surveyed the entire area and room for anything or anyone that might pose a threat.

When Serena couldn't figure out who the creature was, she sniffed the air to see if Rena could get a whiff of it.

'That's a Griffin, and this one is old!' Rena took over without asking Serena, and when Serena turned around, there she sat, enjoying her coffee.

She wore a white and green flowery outfit. She pulled her hair back into a bun with her painted nails. Because they weren't under the table, Serena could see her leg was over the other.

The Griffin sat by herself, reading a book and slowly sipping her coffee.

Rena's hunger for blood was already visible on her face as she stood up to get to her side and yank her away.

Her eyes were bright red, and her cheeks were flushed as well. She pressed her fingers into her palms, resisting the temptation to hurl the girl through the window.

Rena came to a halt after seeing how nice she looked and how calm she appeared. Her expression shifted as if she didn't know what to do.

She eventually took her seat, but she kept a close eye on her. She saw her get up from her chair, collect her belongings, and leave a few minutes later. Her brief exchange with the waitress did not go unnoticed.

Rena observed her target's happiness as she walked past the buildings, and she followed her.

She seemed joyful and cheery as if she was savoring the last rays of sunlight and the last breath of the day.

Rena quickened her steps as the other girl curved behind one of the buildings; she didn't want to miss her.

She'd already emailed Mark and mind-linked the rest of her pack with her whereabouts, but after following her for over thirty minutes, she realized the young lady wasn't a threat yet.

Because she was born to human parents, both Serena and Rena assumed her craving for blood had not yet awoken.

That's where she went wrong.

As she turned around the building, her prey stood there, beaming at her.

Her fingers were dripping with blood. She licked them while keeping her attention locked on Rena, who was becoming further shocked.

Although there was no one else around, she could tell the blood wasn't that of a human or a werewolf.

"I hope the mark I gave you hasn't faded yet," the young lady yelled at the top of her lungs as she noticed Rena attempting to transform into her wolf form.

They had both turned into their mythological forms in the blink of an eye.

Rena was a brown wolf with razor-sharp claws and teeth.

The griffin stood a short distance away from her, with a lion's body but no wings and a bird's head that resembled that of an eagle.

It had brown feathers on its eagle head and neck that faded into a lion's tawny fur and eagle talons on its forelegs. The creature shook its lion's torso and tail.

It had the eyes of a fire dragon and leopard spots on its skin. Rena was taken aback once more. It had no leopard spots the first and last time it encountered the griffin during the combat.

Fear began to build within her. They again had misjudged them, believing that the others would be reincarnated by human parents and be having memory loss.

'What if, like us, they all regained their memories at the age of eighteen?' Serena whispered to Rena as she stood behind her in their mind, watching.

Rena usually blanked Serena whenever she shifted into her wolf form, so she didn't see what they were up to, but she didn't this time.

The griffin lacked wings, and none of its buddies came to join it, because of this; Rena remained steadfast in her belief in destroying it.

Rena howled, signaling the others, but none of them were close enough.

In its wolf form, then trotted toward it, but before it could even get close to the other creature, its tail flashed in front of It, indicating that it wanted to whang Rena away as it had done in the past.

As it progressed after regaining its balance, this enraged the werewolf even more.

Even though the Griffin had lost its wings, it jumped over the werewolf and pricked it with its beak.

That went on for a time, with it perking its stomach and back.

Rena's body began to bleed profusely. It realized it would never be able to leave the site alive if it had to face the Griffin alone.

Another Griffin appeared in sight, standing on one of the tall buildings, as the one fighting Rena leaped again to damage the werewolf with its claws.

Serena recognized the one on the rooftop with its wings as being from the present and not coming from the past.

Rena continued to sprint toward the one on the ground because it would be risky to shift back to her human form and request to talk to the one on the rooftop.

Rena had evaded another assault this time and had struck the griffin in the thigh with its head.

They were both in excruciating pain, Rena even more so than the one she had just hit.

Rena, on the other hand, was putting everything it had into the struggle because it was either the Griffin or Rena herself who would perish.

Rena, on the other hand, was not opting for the first option.

Rena sensed something else take over itself and draped the griffin over its body just before the awful eagle-lion-shaped entity was ready to run into her again.

"Tuck!" As the ground shook, it sounded loud enough to cause an earthquake.

Surprisingly, there was no one wandering around the area. It was a desolate location where the majority of people dumped their trash.

The other winged Griffin had left when Rena raised its head, and it was no longer on the rooftop.

Rena took a step forward, surrounding the enormous beast on the floor. It was tough for it to rise because of its weight.

Rena then heard a pack of wolves charging toward them. It exhaled in relief, its chest heaving feebly even in its wolf guise.

She had begun to feel the pain from all of the attacks and was on her knees, and when the Griffin saw this, it leaped to its feet with all of its strength.

However, its vision was acute, and it noticed the werewolves charging toward them. It began to flee as well.

Unfortunately for the creature, some werewolves had passed through the opposite side of the structure and had encountered it from behind.

They approached it slowly.

They fought and killed the Griffin in a matter of minutes.

Because it had been reborn by a human, it was feeble and was only relying on the limited strength it was offered.

However, just as it was about to die, it reverted to its human form and cautioned, "You folks have no idea what's headed your way."
