I will skip the boring bits and just tell you what happened next. Things actually went more smoothly than what I had expected. Illia was tossed in the dungeons as soon as I arrived per my request. She did her obviously tidbits of flailing and screaming how unjust I was for arresting her without a reason. Of course, my father tried swooping in and saving the day. But with the evidence in hand about her treason to the kingdom, she was soon after locked away. I couldn't explain to you how good it felt knowing that I was uprooting the problem. That and she was a terrible human being to begin with.
Uriah's father had been in tow of my father, and was then given the evidence of all of my father's wrong doings. After scanning through the documents, he went through a trial that lasted well over a year. In that year, Laylia was caught trying to sneak into the border of my kingdom and was arrested. She was sentence to execution without a trial for the murder of many soldiers and the attempted assassinations of the royal families and Counsel. Soon after her execution, Illia was also sentenced to death as a key player in her plans. I did feel guilty over the death of Illia, as we where raised together since we were little. But her actions spoke for themselves when she decided to side with Laylia.
Jeremiah was obviously stripped of his title as a royal spy and also sentenced to death for shoot the royal Princess and committing treason. With a good flush in the system of my royal guards, we were able to uproot many traitors. A few gave themselves up in order to keep their lives. But they were banished from the Kingdom, and would be sentenced to death if they ever tried to cross the border again. I was suprised to see so many traitors in my ranks, but I deep down, after hearing all of the nasty things my father had commited during his reign, I completely understood why they where so bent on over throwing my kingdom.
Finally after my father was deemed unfit to rule, I was placed upon the throne. After my coronation, I married Nicklos and stepped down as leader of the Knights. Nicklos took my place, giving up his right to rule as King in his own Kingdom. Jespah had his coronation, and married a beautiful and kind spirited noble to help him rule over his Kingdom. It was truly a beautiful wedding, and I was happy to see that Jespah found someone less toxic than Illia to marry.
General Bregus stepped down from his position, but only after his son completed the Knighting program and earned his title. He rose through the ranks, and eventually took over his father's spot as the General. Marquise and Seria where appointed as Captains for their valiant efforts in the City, and Maxwell had been appointed as head researcher in his facilities. Unfortunately his brother didn't get to see his promotions. Merrick, after hearing what had happened to Laylia, completely vanished without a trace.
According to a few guards, he had disappeared a few hours after we did, claiming he was looking for his brother. Even after a year, we still hadn't found any traces of him. So for now, we are letting him be. His only crime was handing his brother over to the traitors, and that would warrant him being throne into the dungeons at most. Being exhiled was probably for the better, knowing he would have no way to communicate with his little brother that way.
Last but not least, Uriah. Although we got off on the wrong foot in the past, he really cleaned up to be a decent guy in the end. We still but heads every now and then, but I have come to trust him despite our history. I think I would even call him a friend if it wasn't for his cocky attitude. All in all, I think that everything worked out well, and everyone is happier than when father was in reign.
So after a year of crazy, chaotic, and exciting adventures, I was finally able to rest easy. Truth be told mom, I really miss you. Never would I have thought that so much would happen in your absence. Not once did I ever suspect Illia and my father to be such cruel and terrible people. Nor did I think that the Counsel would ever agree to me being on the throne by their own volition. But Miracles do happen I suppose. I wish that you could see me now, I know you would be so proud. We where even able to gather enough troops from all the Kingdoms, and disbanned the City of Criminals. Their haven now rests in desserted shambles.
I know it's been a really long time since I last wrote a letter to you, so I hope you won't be angry with me. Father always told me it was childish to write letters to a deceased person. But it helped me cope with your absence. But I do have some truly wonderful people in my life now, and I feel more at ease than I ever did. I also have some really cool accomplishments I can tell my kids as they grow up. I just want to say thank you for being the postive influence in my life, and never once giving up on me.
Love
Your daughter Alliah.
I smiled as I set the quill down on the desk, rubbing my heavily protruding belly in quiet content. Things had definetly come a long way. Things I never expected to happen. But I am glad that I was here now, sitting at my desk along with a giant pile of paperwork, and a pregnant belly. I stared out the window, watching the fading pastel colors of the early morning sunrise. The birds chirped their little songs as they flew about outside my window. A gentle breeze burst through my room, caressing my skin in a comforting way.
"You should be resting. You are do any day now Alliah." Nicklos startled me as he placed both his hands on my shoulders. A gentle kiss placed upon my head as I regained my composure. His gold eyes almost seemed to glitter as he stared down at me, a big goofy smile upon his lips. I couldn't help the growing smile that formed on mine as I gazed up at him.
"You know paper work doesn't rest my love. Besides, I am not use to sitting still. There is still so much to be done with the baby's room and-" I grimaced as the fetus's feet pushed against my stomach wall. As it stretched, I could feel the pressure building as well as the discomfort that came along with it. I sucked in a deep breath, waiting for my baby to settle down before even daring to breath again.
"I think our child has other plans for you my dear. I think you should rest while you still have the chance to." He gently squeezed my shoulders and I placed my ring hand on top of his. It still felt surreal to me that this was all happening, but he was always their to remind me that this wasn't a dream.
"I suppose you are right. I bet our child is going to be a lot like you. Strong willed and stubborn." I grumbled as I stiffly rose from my chair. Nicklos chuckled as he placed one hand on my waist to support me, while the other went under my arm. Carefully he helped me out of the chair and towards the bed.
"That's funny, because I think you just described yourself." I scoffed playfully as he helped me onto the bed, propping the pillows up so I could at least sit up to talk with him.
"Your lucky I am pregnant, or I would make you eat those words with my blade." I shot back. The room was soon filled with giggles and bursts of laughter as we gently teased each other. I hoped that this good dream never ended. Things needed to stay just like this, forever.
