Over the next few days Little Wolf got better. While he did not regain sight in his left eye because the damage had been too severe he adapted fairly quickly with the exception that he stayed close to the house and barn and no longer went exploring the surrounding forest.

Carmella and Bilal began Raj's formal education. His first lesson consisted of the use of tentacles. Carmella learned a lot from this lesson herself. The poison or sedative that Centaurians produced could affect the host although it was encapsulated. And while it would be difficult to kill a Centaurian with a dose of the venom, the sedative worked on them just as well as it did on others.

Not only was he being instructed in the ways of the Centaurian but he was learning, what Carmella referred to as the 3-Rs; Reading, Writing and 'Rithmetic.
