Living out of the scene, out in the wild
Learning to breathe up in the clouds, far from the crowds
I can't believe, I can be loud
Holding hands with the darkness
And knowing my heart is allowed.

The taste of red wine and blood always feels similar to me, sour and metallic. The crimson color reminds me of the blood my body sheds, sometimes for glorious purposes and sometimes for fun.
The smell of sex and alcohol lingers in the air, neon lights flicker dynamic patterns on the dance floor, people dancing with each other to the symphony of rhythm. My heartbeat races with the music.
I look at myself through the wine glass, my hair falling down covering my left eye while the other has a perfect cat eye liner on it. A chill passes through my bare thighs, which my black mini dress fails to cover.
I rest my head on the cold marble tabletop as I feel his hand stroking up and down my back. It's the bachelor party for which the grandparents pushed us all to go and hang out in a nightclub. They wanted Priya to enjoy this in her life at least once because she stays most of the time within the four walls of the haveli.
Avani waved at me to join her friends and Priya for a dance, but I declined. My heels were already killing me, and here I was sitting with the boys-Kabir, Cade, and Nathan. Of course, Ronan wasn't there to brighten up the humor because he was still a child.
In the dimly lit corner where we sat, his face wasn't perfectly visible, except for his piercing blue eyes and a scar near his neck-a detail I hadn't noticed before. He swirled his whiskey glass, and those veins... damn.
His other hand continued to stroke me, and I felt warmth between my thighs, a million butterflies dancing inside of me. I leaned back, hitting his hard chest, and gave him his favorite smile. His lips touched the glass of whiskey with a smirk as he continued his conversation with Kabir. No one could notice our position because of the darkness, but they knew I was sitting on his lap.
I felt like a slut, his slut? I traced his scar with my finger, and I swear I heard him curse lightly. "Shit, Lia," he whispered, removing my hand from his neck and planting a small peck on my cheek, whispering, "Pas maintenant, bébé"
His foreign words deepened in his husky voice took me higher than the alcohol ever could. I closed my eyes, pressing my cheek to his unbuttoned chest, his wide shoulder covering my small body from anyone else's sight.
He lifted a small portion of my fabric, stroking between my thighs, his platinum ring sending chills down my spine. "Mmm... fuck," I moaned lightly, just so he could hear, burying my head on his body. My legs were shaking, my body about to give in to what I was controlling. I could tell my cheeks were red from the heat I was feeling. If he asked me to strip right there, I would.
His ring touched my sensitive spot, and I jerked away, leaving a loud gasp. "Oh... my!" My hair fell across my face, and Kabir let out a dried, awkward chuckle. "What happened?" he asked, and my red cheeks were evidence of what had happened. I guess Nathan figured it out; he looked away from me. Why the hell were his ears red?
"I'm feelin- ing co- co- l.." my words stuttered.
"Cold?" Cade asked, taking off his light jacket and wrapping it around me. It was longer than my dress. I snuggled into him again as he chugged down his whiskey and ordered one more glass.
His hand dropped down again, picking up where we left off. Cade dropped his head, giving me a rough, quick kiss while Kabir got busy with a phone call. My fingers tangled in his hair, and I bit his lower lip, pulling away. "I'm not losing that easily," I taunted.
He raised his left eyebrow, pulling my hips aggressively as he said, "Huh, say that again," his voice challenging. I gulped as his face came close again, his smirk growing. "Say that again, Chérie," that's when I felt his finger teasing me, and I knew I was in trouble.
My body gave in after a couple of wild kisses, and I threw my head back while he chuckled, wiping lipstick from his face. "So, who lost?" he asked, smirking proudly.
"I never lose, Mr. It's you who lost control in front of my beauty," I retorted, sticking out my tongue at him as I took off my heels. He shook his head, letting out a sigh, and kissed my palm. "Oh, I didn't know that, Ms. Beautiful."
Kabir came back with Nathan. "When are we going back?" I asked, fixing my hair and noticed Nathan's cheek getting red again. "And why the heck are you blushing, Nathan?"
"It's just been two hours; it's early to go back, and besides, Avani is having fun with Priya," Kabir pointed at Avani, who showed no sign of tiredness, and Priya, who was just standing awkwardly. "Told the DJ to play romantic songs, and Avani herself would drag us out of the nightclub," Cade said, creasing my feet.
I let out a yawn; his touch was soothing. "You can sleep if you want," he suggested, resting his back on the couch. I nodded, resting on his chest, and closed my eyes. "What the heck is going through your mind, Nathan?" I asked again.
"I saw a pole out there," he said, looking at me with a wicked grin, "then I saw you, and then I saw a flashback." And I knew which flashback he was talking about. Pole dancing and acrobatics had been my specialty since I joined G.U.A.R.D. It's a great way to lure men, especially criminals.
"What's with Athalia and a pole?" Cade asked him, his eyes getting darker. "Oh, Athalia haven't told you, she is great at pole danc-" I hit Nathan with a cushion as hard as I could. That bastard started laughing; he had seen me dancing like that a lot, with short dresses, masks, and all those things. I hated those things, but at the same time, I used to feel sexy and confident.
Cade placed his chin on my shoulder. "Maybe someday, I can have a ticket to your private show," he winked, and my cheeks heated up.
"So, what were we talking about?" And here was Kabir, bringing us back to the business world. "You were telling me about your project I'm going to handle," replied Cade, pulling me to his chest. My warm teddy bear.
"It's not actually a new project. I was wondering if the malfunction of the Capital ship was just a coincidence or if it was planned. It's not like-" His words grabbed my attention; why weren't they letting me take my beauty nap?
"You mean someone was behind all this?" I said, not pulling away from Cade. He nodded. "And you didn't think it's important to tell me?" My voice sounded rude, but he should at least tell me about this.
"It was just my prediction. I can't tell this to anyone without any proof, and you always ask for proof as if you are Uncle's personal lawyer," he tried to argue back. I really hate when people treat me like Lewis's sidekick. I have my own burden; it's just a few of his orders I follow.
"It's easy for you because you never have bled for world peace!" I stomped on my words. "Tell me, have you ever been burnt alive? Have you ever seen multiple dead bodies covered in blood? Have you ever seen a woman getting assaulted with your own eyes? Have you ever been injected by liquid titanium serum? Have you ever been scared of the destruction you can cause?"
I was a bit dramatic; maybe it's the alcohol kicking in. Kabir's face showed a glimpse of guilt after hearing me. I felt my eyes getting numb and hid my face in Cade's chest. I heard a faint "I'm sorry" from Kabir as Cade wrapped his arms around me.
"He didn't mean that, Lia; no one's judging you," Cade took a strand of hair away from my forehead as he kissed it with his gentle lips. I softly nuzzled into him; screw world peace, I didn't want to move away from here.
Cade asked Kabir to continue when he sensed I was calm down. "So, I asked Choti Ma (Zaria), and she said it may have been possible that something went wrong with that air carrier. But months back, when I was working with old files that came from Capita-Nova, I found some unfamiliar text, and it doesn't seem like someone's research file.
It was some coded text messages, and I found the same on ancient ruins in Greece; they both share the same meaning in Greek. 'Η μοίρα θα βρει τον δρόμο της,' which means Fate will find its way." Kabir clicked his tongue.
"And I believe this has something to do with the agency, or there is something else going on in this world," he sighed before resting back into his position.
"You mean it's either connected to our agency or some historic myths." Kabir nodded his head. "And that way you were working with Asher? Because he is more of an archaeologist than a physicist," Cade said, his name was enough to catch my attention. Kabir working with Asher?
"I know, and it would have been easier if that manuscript book was not sold off in a binding. I tried to contact the owner only to find out she is into the underworld, but without that book, it's impossible to do anything," Kabir sighed again.
"And who is the owner?" I asked.
"Maya Ruya," he replied.
"I know you don't like Asher for your own reasons, but at least for work, try to stick together. Asher can be a great help; just try to understand everything is not about getting drowned in your feelings," Kabir completed his lecture. "I don't have any problem working with Asher, but," his sight dropped down to me, mixed emotion of hurt and anger on his face.
"I don't know about the person you are talking about . We are just strangers with a few memories," I replied. I didn't want him stepping back because of my emotions.
"I'll talk to Asher about this. It will be easier for you because you are a historian as well as a physicist, Cade," Cade nodded slightly; the tension in the air was lifted up by Avani's and Priya's giggles.
I pulled away from Cade's lap when they came and sat with us. And there's the thing disturbing me throughout the week; Kabir, who once told me that he wanted a happy marriage life away from the guns and blood business, is ignoring his wife?
After working three years with him, I can tell his mood easily, when he gets annoyed by the presentation and when the presentation excites him. I wanted to ask Cade so badly, but what's with the look on his face when he is around Priya? Why looking at her with so much pity and sympathy? I mean, dude, she is marrying a business tycoon; she's going to sit at home all day, no tension, nothing. Then what's with that look? I'm not jealous; I swear I'm not jealous. Why would I be jealous of someone who can never be completely mine?
It's just a matter of time; we are together for, whenever it will come to grow his family, then he will marry a rich blonde chick, and what happy ever after? Nah, I know it too; I can never have a family. Because I never had one, and I can't produce one.
I was a piece of contract for my father, and now I'm a piece of contract for the agency. I'll rather choose to die as a legend because I'm born to be one.
"What are you finding with so much passion in the menu?" I asked. Cade looked up from the menu to me and grinned. "You, my love, you"
But it would be a really beautiful delusion to imagine him as my husband and father of my child.
So, here your Author is back with her ummm..... Suspense we call it? I know the chapter was a bit unholy at start, so next time sit with holy water near you.
