"So then, crew. What do you think of our current situation?"
Asked Eric as he was currently manning the helm with the help of Tomi.
The rest of the crew, involving Salon, Maryse, Natyr, Tomi and himself have been wide awake from the moment their captain had gone to sleep.
"I think we should just get rid of the little brat and take our chances with the government." stated Maryse, not hesitating to make her voice heard.
"You mean get rid of the one who the system recognizes as our current captain and the one holding back the negative effects for us? Pretty dumb if you ask me." Natyr argued against her suggestion.
"I agree with Natyr," said Salon, drawing everyone's gaze, "we don't even know what these negative effects are, neither do any of us know anything about curses and yet our captain has extensive knowledge on the subject, enough to hold a portion of the curse back and only provide us with benefits."
"What about home? I liked it back in New Seelnd." Tomi said with silentl mutter.
"We're all adventurers here. The only 'home' we have is with our party." Natyr stated firmly.
"We don't even have a bed to sleep on here do we? Can you argue against that?" Maryse said as she kept finding things to complain about.
"Yes I can actually." Natyr said, shooting a glance towards Salon.
"But first let me tell you all a little something. Me and Salon have been on a multitude of adventures together as a duo party. We've seen a single goblin take out a party of C class and met with a pirate lord in person."
Before Maryse could intervene, Salon shot her a glare to shut her up.
"Through our multiple shared experiences, the moment that the Captain threw those coins at us, we knew that we had already fallen in her trap."
The eyes of most people there widened considerably.
"How come?" Tomi asked.
"*Sigh* If you were a guard chasing a wanted criminal around town, then saw her throwing money to some conveniently placed adventurers, how would you react?"
"Well you ahould already know the awnser." Salon interrupted and awnsered Natyr before Tomi could respond.
"Yeah. I do. The captain forcefully obtained a crew."
"Anyway, continuing my point. If that meeting place and chase were planned out to happen, then what about up till now?"
Natyr looked between the faces of the crew, looking at their reactions, she knew that they had just realized it now.
"The moment we stepped on ship, the captain showed absolutely no reaction to any notification that I am sure had popped up in her status."
Maryse gulped, and she was not the only one.
"When she took out the modifications and gave Eric that book, she immediately made her way down for quite a while before returning, the captain had also told us that she was going to check if the vessel had any damaged areas did she not? Meaning she knows what parts of the ship should look like what."
"This, at least I believe, shows that she is familiar with this ship's interior, every cursed ship is different afterall. And no, the fact that she had it bottled beforehand does not explain it. There is no known magic that could shrink someone."
Stopping her explanation, Natyr took a glance towards Eric.
"When she came back out she had a magic circle in hand did she not?"
"It's true. I saw it." he confirmed.
"Did you also see how many elements it posessed and what tier it was?" Natyr asked.
"No. All I saw was a mesh of colors surrounding a pure silver middle."
Letting out a soft sigh, Natyr continued.
"So the captain also has some sort of unknown element under her grasp as well."
"Anyway back to the main topic. We do have rooms on this vessel. The captain has just not given us access to them yet."
"The reason being, I had tried to enter below deck with an invisibility skill of mine when she was modifying the helm."
"That threat that she said was not only directed towards you, Maryse."
Eric and Salon widened their eyes, so did Maryse as they had not sensed Natyr anywhere near those stairs.
"The moment I heard the captain was the exact same moment I took my first step on those stairs."
"The pressure I felt from the captain was like a wild demonic beast.. While the pressure I felt from below deck was even more terrifying, as if a tier 5 being had made me it's prey."
"That sort of monster is aboard this ship?!" Tomi let out in fear.
"Quite possibly, and the captain didn't even flinch from entering that place, meaning she most likely has that monster under her control."
At this point, everyone was positively terrified thanks to Natyr's explanations.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, Maryse. But do you think the captain would let us enter such a dangerous location without any supervision."
"She- she's like twelv-"
"And yet her full aura felt close to tier 4. Apperance does not matter in this world, you should have already been taught that. Honestly I wouldn't be suprised if I found out that our current captain is one of the pirate lords or someone directly under their command. "
"Anyway. If my current theory is correct, then-"
Natyr suddenly jumped up and got in a battle position while staring at the floor.
Salon followed suit as the others were a little slower to react to the sudden spike in mana and outrageous aura that suddenly befell them.
"Looks like I'll tell you all my theory some other time."
Natyr said with a forced smile as sweat trickled down her forehead.
"I wouldn't be suprised if the captain was listening to our conversation the entire time." Salon added.
"If I were you Maryse, I'd stop acting spoiled when I could be removed from the face of this world at any moment. Soul and all." Eric whispered to her, as the others could clearly overhear him.
"B-but o-o-our souls are protected."
"By the one who could remove that protection with the snap of her fingers."
After a few minutes, the aura started to slowly dissipate as the crew could finally breathe out a breath of relief.
"I'll head on to bed for now. Eric, can you take the first shift? You're already at the wheel." Natyr said as she laid down in the furthest corner of the helm, Maryse joining her.
"That's fine, I guess."
Now the only ones left at the helm were Tomi, Eric and Salon. The only men in the crew.
A few minutes of silence begun as they were all lost in their own thoughts... only to be brought out of those thoughts by a peculiar persons 'yawn'.
"ahhhnn~!"
As the men currently manning the helm of the ship looked towards the two sleeping women at the back corner, they realize who that 'yawn' came from and swore to eachother through simple eye contact.
'Let's keep this to ourselves till the end of our lives or else we'll be executed by the captain herself.'
...
Waking up the moment the sun pierced the horizon, Mizuki did a few streches before sitting at the deak in the middle of her room that she now owned and started browsing her status once more.
'I'll try out [Synthesize] for now.'
Taking out too silver coins from her storage, Mizuki used [Synthesize] and was utterly dissapointed.
The two coins now were only one slightly larger silver coin with no engravings on it.
'Underwhelming.'
Throwing it back in her storage, Mizuki now set her eyes on her skill column.
'Let's see I guess.'
Using [Synthesize] on [Absurd HP Recovery] and [Absurd MP Recovery], this time Mizuki was not dissapointed in the slightest.
[Skill [Absurd HP Recovery] lost.]
[Skill [Absurd MP Recovery] lost.]
[Skill [Regeneration] gained.]
A smile was threatening to bloom on Mizuki's emotionless face, but she pushed the feeling deep down.
'It's good that it works but there may be drawbacks.'
Taking a glance at her MP she saw that more than half of it was missing and that it was recovering slower than before.
Opening the description, Mizuki frowned slightly.
[Regeneration - Regain 0.5% of everything every second when something is not at full capacity.]
'The percentage has dropped, it isn't a huge problem because some of my evolution benefits give my overall regeneration ability an increase in effectiveness.'
'The benefit of this skill is that it is no longer restricted to only MP and HP but also to stamina, hunger and anything else that I might end up losing.'
'This can even help me against people who might have an unique ability to steal status points. Since leveling up and using AP increases my full capacity of let's say strength then if I ever lose stats in that, I can regenerate it back to the full capacity.'
'Next let's try...'
[Skill [High Magic Resistance] lost.]
[Skill [High Physical Resistance] lost.]
[Skill [Resist] gained.]
[Resist - Reduce all damage received by 12%.]
'Same thing here. Overall percentage drops, but it covers a larger field.'
Taking a glance at her MP that was just less than 10% remaining, Mizuki decided to stop here and left her room.
Opening the door and heading to the helm, Mizuki took the wheel from Salon and started sailing, not looking at the four people at the back who had black circles under their eyes.
Salon walked to the back to join them, sat down and closed his eyes to get some rest.
Maryse silently gritted her teeth when seeing their so called captain not even acknowledge their existance.
Without looking back, Mizuki started talking as she finally activated the modifications on the wheel along with the magic circle she burned in the wheel.
"It seems I had forgotten to provide you with an area of rest. For that I apologize and will prepare a room for each of you at nightfall."
'Giving some sympathy and showing that I can apologize when I am wrong should increase my likeability with the crew.'
Before any of the crew could say anything, Mizuki continued.
"Next. I think some introductions are in order. Although you should already know eachother's names by now since you stayed up here the entire night."
Mizuki turned her head back to look at the crew with her usual emotionless face and voice.
"Mizuki Murasaki, your new captain."
