I don't know how long I stayed like that, but it was a long time. Makai and Momma just rubbed my back and held my hands as I let the sickness leave my body. When I finally sat up, I was able to do so without feeling another wave of nausea. Thanks to that, I ate another one of the crackers that Momma had brought me and took a few more sips of the water. This was starting to get a little easier, and that was a good thing for me.

"Ocean, it's going to be OK. No matter what the tests show, Reef and I are here for you and Makai. We will never let you go through anything like this alone." Momma was doing her best to encourage me now as well.

"It just can't be true, Momma." I gave her a look that was pleading, but she couldn't help me right now.
