Do people chase greatness, or does greatness chase us?
A.I. genius, Gengyo, through the assistance of SAPPHIRE attains the means to time travel. He seeks a simpler life, and wishes to experience the warmth of a family.
But often we do not get what we want, we get what we deserve. And his peaceful times soon end, as war storms Japan, and in order to protect his peace, he must conquer. Join Gengyo as he walks a blood-stained path toward absolute domination, seizing control of Japan.
//Brief extract from one of the battle scenes. Written from the point of view of a samurai landowner, Niwa Nakatane.
The hooves grew closer to Nakatane's position and their beating hearts grew faster.
Perhaps they could simply remain like that, hiding behind the tree, and allow these barbarians to pass? That way could they not return home to their families? Could they not give their dear wives one final kiss, or share one final story with their enthusiastic youth?
Nakatane knew exactly what they were thinking. And as the ground rumbled, and the mounted beasts howled, he was the first man to step out from the trees and make his stand.
"OORAH!"
Possessed by a furious energy, he thrust out with all the aggression of a war god, puncturing Ochi's stallion through the chest with the sharpened wooden point of his lengthy spear.
The mammoth fell from his mount clumsily, his head colliding with a nearby tree root. He ceased to move, and a pool of blood began to form around him.
"ARM THESE SPEARS MEN! VICTORY SHALL BE OURS!"
He stood in front of the charge of over 150 horsemen, alone. But he did not give a single inch of ground. He met the charge of the next man in line, roaring vengefully, possessed by all the rage and power that had accumulated in his body over these past years.
The horsemen shrieked like a pack of hyenas, fanning out, each eager for a piece of the man who had brought down their leader.

Schreiben Sie eine RezensionA genuinely brilliant work. The characters are multidimensional and realistic, the setting and attention to historical detail are superb. The story itself is also great, building at a good pace with a really interesting premise. I love the way that Gengyo adapts to the world that he's been sent to. The action is also exciting and nicely presented, I hope that Gengyo will use more of the sword / be more formally schooled in it in the near future also, as I imagine that it would be very exciting! Thank you Nick for what's looking like an amazing novel. I really hope that you continue to stick with it as in terms of overall quality this is the best that I've seen on Webnovel.
Worst piece of ****. I stop reading after chapter 91. This novel is the worst there is. The author just killed the characters that has best potential in this novel. Don't read this I'm warning you. Fuck this ****. The worst novel I've read in my whole life.
I am the exp of my sword. webnovel is my body, and exp is my blood. I have created over a thousand useless review. Unknown to death, nor known to life. Have withstood pain to create many reviews. Yet, those hands will never hold anything. So, as I pray...Unlimited Exp Works!.
The quality of this novel is much better than most in Qidian, The writer's writing skill is pretty good, and he's very clear in what direction he wants to take his story forward. The writing is void of *******ism, which is rare to find in Qidian. The writer's command of english is very good. However, I felt his understanding of Japanese culture isn't sufficient enough. The biggest problem to the storytelling is the attempt to blend and use old Japanese, modern Japanese, and modern english words and terms to tell the story. Very frustrating for me to see other characters keep calling the mc Miura-kun, as if he's a high school boy in shounen novel. Also, his sister (Very shounen sister, she has all the traits) calling him nii-san and nii-chan instead of Aniue or Onii-sama/san (It actually should be Tadakata-Onii-sama/san, because she has another older brother, especially when all three of them are presented). These details are important, at least I deem them to be when the Author expects us to learn the archaic Japanese words for 'spearman' and 'archer'. If you want to be that authentic, you need to walk the whole nine yards, not using english pound for draw weight, and definitely not having these Japanese characters talk like modern people. This breaks the story for me, more than anything else. I'm very critical when I comment, especially when I recognize that the Author is competent. Mark twain once said "The difference between the right word and the almost right word is really a large matter – it is the difference between the lightning and the lightning bug.", and this sums up my feeling of this novel. I know that the story will get better, and it's actually top-tier when you compared to other webnovels, but please for the love of all things holy and good, be more careful with details. This later part of comment is just nitpicking: The mc is typical, in the way a genius mc in webnovel is. The achilles's heel of writing this type of mc is that he's expected to be very good with science, and anytime he isn't, that breaks the reading experience. The most glaring example is from Ch.1 when he tried to explain the time-traveling conundrum: Yes, sentience is weightless, but it has mass. The different between weight and mass is basic science. This is Ch.1, and I already doubt the mc intelligent, and my prejudice against him being a genius has formed. So his subsequent actions will be question every time they make no sense. It's one of the reasons I dread genius mc, and it turned me away from the story when I read this kind of sloppiness. You can't be a technological genius when the A.I. you created—after it evolved to its v.1000, self-claimed as the peak of technology, and even capable of time-traveling—still don't have a 'please confirm option'. To put it into perspective, even the Gameboy version of Pokemon has this option when you select your first Pokemon. That game is sold in 1995, when we still listen to our music through cassette tape, and I can say for certain though it has entertain a whole generation of mankind, it sure hasn't reach the peak of technology yet. Also, I don't think the Sengoku period is the time for peacefully raising your family, the only thought I've when reading this was, 'The mc and the A.I., they aren't that intelligent, aren't they?' This part is so contradicting to the mc character and his pet A.I., even truck-kun makes more sense.
I genuinely enjoy it. It's such a nice breath of fresh air from the other stuff on the website, and to add to that its beautifully written. The grammar isn't scuffed so it's a smooth read. The updates are consistent so you can count on your daily dose of feudal Japan. The characters aren't bland, they have an actual personality to them. Yeah those are my thoughts. I was never any good at conclusions and wrapping things up in fluid manner. Anyway, the story is good. Even if you think it might not be your cup of tea, give it a try anyway.
I want to add another review because of the new arc the story is on. Honestly, it's really cool. It wasn't how i expected the story to turn out, but i'm liking it a lot. I'm just scared the author will drop it because... well I dunno, you get that feeling. He's doing bonus chapters for us and stuff... i just hope he isn't overworking and getting bored with writing
The story starts really well and the author makes a really good setting and develops the characters really well at the start. However when the MCs brother, lord and many of his friends end up dying is when it starts going downhill. The MCs character becomes inconsistent, from a pacifistic scientist to a bloodthirsty despot, the rest of the characters just lose most of what makes them good in the first place and become just placeholders, you can see this that the author barely mentions most of the survivors and close friends of the MC for more than a sentence or two. The battles can be interesting enough however, if every victory is a pyrrhic victory after two battles you dont have an army. Now the MC's army doesnt have many casualties later in the series however if you just slaughter your way through a province you plan to rule you end up ruling nobody. In other words the enemies are made to be just created from thin air, coupled with the fact that the start of the story showed us how hard it is from a village to recover from a failed campaign and how the MC knows this, his ruthlessness against what will be his own people are baffling to say the least. Another drop in quality and continuity is the whole monk arc. The author starts the series with a sci fi element, the AI teleports our MC through time to the sengoku era. Then it mostly follows a realistic historical setting, and then all of a sudden we get super powered monks, hidden arts power levels just like any other cultivation novel. And after that ark our MC is basically a god amongst men, he has profound understanding of everything and peerless martial prowess, and of course he trains his men in the same way so now he has an army of ridiculously powerful soldiers, which he recruits in a really filler way ( oh i was coming back from the mountain and they happened to be wandering around teehee). Over time the man from the future that wants a quiet peaceful life just ceases to exist and in his place is a bloodthirsty despot who does not care if he slaughters ten or a million people. Now all this could be how the author planned to have his character end up but personally i dislike the development. Another point i want to make is that in the end the premise of being from the future is just used to give his troops better rifles and cannons and has no other influence on the story. At the start of the novel i was hooked and would have given it full stars, however reading 200+ chapters i cant help but feel disappointment for all the lost potential of this rather unique novel.
Spoiler enthüllenThe MC is a big pussy... Feudal Japan and treats it like a modern world.. A big idiot and very irritating MC.. Skip it.. not worth it if you hate those kind of MCs
Chap 146 too much for me, completly destroyed my pleasure, i can't believe some f*cking monk can have such skill that it can be compared as super powers, f*ck that. It became completly dumb at this point;
Spoiler enthüllenThis book is the reason I made a Webnovel account as well as downloaded the app just so I could show my support to the author of a true gem of a book
Incredible. A breath of fresh air in the original section of webnovel. If you are looking for something nuanced, well written, unfettered with the weak writer's crutch of deus ex machina, I strongly recommend you give this a read.
Very interesting read, this form of writing is a dose of freshness from other Light Novels. It reminds me of the Chinese Novel about Army Building as well, I believe the title was a "Reincarnated Lord". Sad thing thr Chinese censured it, would have loved to read it to its end. I hope this novel would keep up its quality and ride me through Feudalistic Japan as I turn every page.
This is by far my favourite original work novel on this website. The concept for the story is interesting and the novel is well paced. I enjoy how characters have worth because it is possible for them to die unlike other novels. I really like the direction the novel is now taking with the Monks we're learning there is more to the world of martial arts in Japan than meets the eye. Friends and Foes have depth, personality and each feel unique from each other, which is a huge breath of fresh air from the usual 2D Chinese Villains. This novel has only gotten better as it continues and I can tell the author has improved along the way. I have no qualms with the grammar as I have noticed nothing off. All in All I would highly recommend, I only wish there was more :) Keep up the great work Author-san!
It's a really good novel, one that keeps me asking for more and more. This should be way more popular then it is now. Any1 thinking of reading this just go right in, you won't be disappointed
Great novel. Recommend to those who like history and war strategy.(hais remind me of the world online novel hope for that author to continue about it). I like the style and maybe rival the novel the world online. So I think of it as the world online but center about japan.
Ok so I've been looking for a good novel to read, and came here from the recommended bar of Nova Roma or something. The reviews on here look good, so I will give it a try. Will update you on how I get on.
Totally impressed by the novel, new chapters PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE 🔥🔥 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Awesome characters liked the story progression up until the ryoji temple arc because it seemed to be so rushed, all the guys should have been taken to the temple and the girls taken in as ninja possibly made allies that way. overall a great genre to take inspiration from just need a d&d type board game to run so many possibilities and roll with the best story but no matter how you look at it having time to mature a storyline is always best concerning quality other than that loved the immersive storytelling great job authorsan. 😅👍
Spoiler enthüllenhonestly, a lot of versatility, many friends and family, the protagonist seems to be passive, the premise that made me want to read the novel was a samurai, a man of “honor” who kills without blinking an eye. I can't stand to see if the MC gets to this, a lot of bull****, thanks for the romance.

Hello, the author here. Just reviewing my work in order to promote it, and offer the readers some idea of what to expect. This is my fourth novel, and the one I'm most proud of. My main focus when writing has been on creating believable characters and relationships that we can empthaise with. The plan for the rest of the story - I feel - is pretty exciting, so I hope you'll stick around for the ride. Thank you.
