Kapitel 24: Chapter 14: The return of a lost friend Part 1

It was a nice clear day, the sky was blue and almost no clouds in sight. Today Arcee felt like talking to a dear old friend who had long left them and brought Emily with her to the place.

"The sky sure is beautiful. Knowing you, Cliff, you'd say that the only thing that could make the sky look better is a bunch of Decepticons attacking from above. Because they make easy shooting targets. There's something I've been meaning to tell you for a while. But I don't know how." Arcee was talking to a stone grave that was made of stacks of small rocks but Emily knew that it was for the memory of someone who was lost.

"It is okay, Arcee. I know it's not easy but maybe venting this out might help you." Emily puts a hand on the side of her leg as Arcee looks at her with hesitance, unsure on how to tell Cliffjumper's spirit in what has been happening for a while now.

"You're right. I must do it. Here's the thing, partner. I've finally found out who killed you. It was Starscream. When I figured what I had to do, I only had one thought in mind. To kill him and make him pay for what he did. But when I was about to strike him, I realized... that I just couldn't. Despite everything he did, I just couldn't do it. Maybe it was because no matter what I do, I knew you wouldn't come back. I miss you, partner." Arcee said as she felt tears welling up but she wiped her optics before they fell as Emily smiled soft to her.

"Feeling better?" Emily asked her as Arcee nodded with a sad smile.

"A little. But you were right. Telling him might have been the right thing to do. It's just that..." Arcee didn't finish her sentence but Emily knew what she was trying to say.

"You don't know if he's listening to you or not." Emily finished for her as Arcee smiled a little more towards her.

"Yeah that might be." Arcee nodded as she let out a small breath.

"Trust me, Arcee. Wherever Cliff is, he's listening to you. I know it. Can I?" Emily looked up to Arcee with permission as she had a small bouquet of flowers which was red and white and was wondering if Arcee would let her put them in front of Cliffjumper's grave.

Seeing Arcee nod, she nodded back before walking up to the grave and kneeling down before setting the bouquet in front of the grave as Arcee looked at the flowers curiously and couldn't help but ask.

"What are these flowers for?" Arcee kneels down as she takes a closer look before Emily looks up to her with a soft smile before they both look at Cliffjumper's grave.

"It's a human tradition. When someone dies, we bring flowers to commemorate the memories and the moments we shared with them. Now let's have a brief moment of silence. In the memory of Cliffjumper." Arcee nodded as she was moved by what Emily did.

They both have a brief moment of silence and pray to Primus silently. When the moment was over, Arcee started feeling much better now as they both stood up as Arcee felt her spark warm up as if someone was with them.

"You're right, he listened to me. I can feel it now. Thanks for your help, Emily." Arcee ruffled Emily's hair as she giggled.

"My pleasure and don't worry, Arcee. Cliffjumper would be proud knowing that you put a dent on Starscream. Now let us enjoy this amazing view shall we?" Emily suggested as she wanted to enjoy the view of the land as Arcee chuckled as she nodded.

"Sure." Arcee smiled as Emily smiled back as she sat down to enjoy the view.

Arcee and Emily stayed there a bit more to enjoy the magnificent view before them.

Meanwhile, below at the base, most of the Autobots are very distracted since they knew that today was when they last met a friend. For today was the day when Cliffjumper died. Miko looked bored as she saw that everyone was doing something. Jack was with Smokescreen as the two were talking while Raf and Bumblebee were playing video games. Ratchet seemed to be busying himself more than usual which was odd.

"Wow, talk about a lousy mood." Miko started before she looked up to Bulkhead who had a somber look in his optics and she was curious why.

"Today is the day when Cliffjumper was killed." Bulkhead hated himself for not being able to save Cliffjumper from his fate but it won't bring him back. Miko looked shocked by this since this was an anniversary when Cliffjumper was gone.

"Oh sorry, guys." Miko looked down sadly. She didn't know and felt bad for her Autobot friends as Jack put a hand on her shoulder as she looked up to him and saw his gloomy expression.

"It's okay, Miko, you didn't know." Jack said but Miko saw that there was more to it than that.

"You okay, Jack?" Miko asked curiously as he look to Raf who look back and nodded before he and Bumblebee resumed their game

"Yeah, yeah, it's just that today was also the day where Raf and I had our first experience with the Decepticons." Jack laughed softly since he remembered it like it was only days ago.

"I remember it. It was so scary. That's where everything changed in our lives." Raf said as Ratchet decided to join in the conversation since he was also saddened by Cliffjumper's death.

"Today is the day to think about many things. The loss of a good friend and a change of life." Ratchet said as they nodded while Smokescreen watched them curiously.

"Cliffjumper would be of great help right now." Bulkhead said as he looked down as Bumblebee beeped sadly and nodded in agreement with him.

"I don't know who Cliffjumper was. But from what I can tell, he must've been a great warrior." Smokescreen was feeling their gloomy mood that he couldn't help but feel sad as well.

"He was but even his skills weren't enough against the Decepticons." Ratchet said as he looked at the others.

"To think that his killer was that wretched Starscream who killed him. Makes me wanna smash him." Bulkhead smashed his servo and fist together as Ratchet shook his head.

"Killing him won't do us any good, Bulkhead." Ratchet told him as he was about to protest before Miko spoke up.

"Ratchet's right, Bulkhead. Killing Starscream won't bring back Cliffjumper. It will only turn you into something worse." Bulkhead saw their point and calmed down.

"Yeah you're right." Bulkhead nodded as Miko looked to the elevator in confusion since both Arcee and Emily haven't come back yet.

"Say... Arcee and Emily have been up there for quite a while and where's Optimus?" Miko asked since she didn't see the blue and red Autobot leader anywhere in the base.

"Optimus went for a drive. He needed some time to think for himself about what happened on this very day." Ratchet said since Optimus was hit hard for what happened to Cliffjumper before the sound on the computer alerted them that someone was calling them and they looked to the screens to see that it was Wheeljack. Ratchet turned it on and the screen turned on and it showed Wheeljack's comm link address.

"Hey, how are you doing, Doc, Bulkhead? How are you doing, old buddy?" Wheeljack asked through the comm link as Bulkhead smiled sadly at hearing his friend.

"Not too good, Jackie." Bulkhead could tell that Wheeljack became concerned as Ratchet sighed softly.

"Wheeljack, this is not the right time or the right day." Ratchet said as Wheeljack sensed the sadness in his voice and decided to change the topic.

"So I see. Look, I'm calling because my ship, the Jackhammer, detected something weird. I thought it was Energon but I've never seen these readings. See for yourself." Wheeljack sent something as Ratchet then walked up to the computer to see.

"Let me check." Ratchet said as he turned it on as the scanners of the computer that received Wheeljack's data were starting to detect some faint energy spike that seemed familiar.

"Hmm I'm detecting some sort of energy spike. It's faint but it all points out to... by the Allspark. It cannot be." Ratchet felt his optics widened in shock as he couldn't believe it. Just how?! He was told that the place was blown to bits but why was it sending energy spikes now?!

"Is everything okay, doc?" Wheeljack asked in concern as Ratchet was shaking his head as he still couldn't believe it but it was as the others looked at each in concern.

"I'm afraid not, Wheeljack." Ratchet said before using the comm-link to contact Optimus to tell him of the situation.

"Optimus, do you read me?" Ratchet said through the comm-link.

Somewhere outside the base, Optimus was driving on the highway before he used the breaks when he heard Ratchet calling him and answered it.

"Optimus, do you read me?"

"I do, Ratchet. What is it?" Optimus asked as he can hear the sounds of typing in the background.

"Our scanners have detected a faint energy spike. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. We need your help." From how Ratchet sounded, it was serious.

"Understood, old friend. I'm coming back to the base. Gather all members of Team Prime and prepare for departure." Optimus ordered and he could tell Ratchet was nodding.

"Very well, Optimus." Their comm links turned off before Optimus returned back to the base at full speed while wondering what caused an energy spike.

Meanwhile, Arcee and Emily were enjoying the view from the top of the base before Emily looked at Arcee to ask her something.

"Hey, Arcee, mind If I ask you a question?" Arcee looked down at her curiously before nodding.

"Go ahead." Arcee nodded as Emily nodded back.

"Did you care for Cliffjumper when you two were partners?" Emily asked her curiously as Arcee had to fight the pink hue that threatened to make itself known on her face-plate as she was feeling nervous about the question.

"Yeah... of course I cared about him. After all, we were partners. Always having each other's back." Emily could tell there was more to it but decided to leave it alone for now.

"Yeah but did you really care about him?" Emily asked as she put emphasis word to word.

"Like care care? Maybe so...but that was a long time ago." Emily had to fight a small smile as she knew that Arcee was harboring feelings for Cliffjumper.

Arcee perked up and was receiving a call on her comm-link. She answers to it knowing that it was Ratchet.

"Yes, Ratchet?" Arcee asked curiously.

"Arcee, we need you downstairs. Now." Emily and Arcee look at each other. Ratchet sounds worried.

"We're on our way." Arcee answered before turning the comm-link off.

"Let's go. Ratchet is calling us." Arcee motioned her head to the elevator as Emily nodded and stood back up.

"Right behind you." Emily said as they both walked to the elevator and used it to go down before they walked out as Arcee walked towards Ratchet.

"What's going on, Ratchet?" Arcee asked him in concern after noticing the disturbed look on his face-plate.

"Something bad." Ratchet told her gravely and she didn't like how it sounded.

"How bad?" Arcee asked slowly as Smokescreen answered her.

"Really bad." He added as Arcee was getting bad vibes from this.

Emily then walked up to the others to see what was going on since they looked concerned, shocked and worried.

"What is it?" Emily asked Jack as he turned to her.

"Don't know. Wheeljack detected something weird so Ratchet looked into it and started freaking out." Emily became concerned as Jack finished explaining the situation.

"Must be pretty bad." Emily muttered before they perked up after hearing the entrance to the base opened up as they knew that it was Optimus.

He enters the base before transforming back into his Cybertronian form and walks up to Ratchet after nodding a greeting to the others.

"Ratchet, were you able to determine the source of this faint energy?" Optimus asked him and he nodded as Ratchet opened up the scans and data of it.

"Yes, Optimus, but I still don't believe it. Based on our scanners it seems to be Dark Energon." This came as a surprise and shock to the ones who knew what it was as Emily looked on in confusion. From the sound of it, this Dark Energon seemed to be the opposite of the Energon the others needed.

"Oh this is just great. Dark Energon." Bulkhead grumbled as Bumblebee beeped in agreement while Emily asked Jack what Dark Energon was and he explained to her that it was bad news.

"Hold on, are you talking about that Dark Energon which is the blood of Unicron? I thought it was just a myth." Wheeljack said in shock and disbelief through the comm-link as Ratchet nodded gravely since he witnessed the power of dark energon before.

"It's more than a myth. Dark Energon is real." Ratchet told him as he knew that if they don't do something soon, the cons will use it for evil intentions.

"How much are we talking about?" Bulkhead asked since he wasn't looking forward to being exposed too long around Dark Energon.

"Still uncertain." Ratchet said as he started to type on the computer to check the scanners to see how much Dark Energon is there.

"That's weird. There isn't that much. And it looks like..." Ratchet felt his Spark stop as he couldn't believe what the scanner revealed. It can't be.

"Looks like what?" The others were becoming concerned about this.

"That this Dark Energon is emitting power pulses. As if it's calling something... or someone." Ratchet said as he looked at Optimus who nodded gravely.

"Megatron." Optimus said gravely as the others looked at each other before looking back to the conversation.

"This Dark Energon must be calling out to someone who's got Dark Energon inside him." Ratchet said as he tried to calm down from nervousness.

"In this case, the one with Dark Energon is the leader of the Decepticons himself." Smokescreen shuddered at the thought of being exposed to the dark material.

"I don't understand. What do you mean with this thing calling out for Megatron?" Jack asked in confusion as their human friends looked lost.

"Simple. Megatron has a symbiotic bond with Dark Energon. It's logical to believe that this Dark Energon is calling out to someone whose veins are filled with this dark matter." Ratchet explained as their human companions nodded in understanding.

"Big deal, it's just a small amount. It's not that bad right? Right?" Miko asked but stopped after seeing the looks on their Autobot friends.

"Megatron only needs one shard to create a supply of Dark Energon for his own personal use. We cannot allow this to happen. Do you have the coordinates of the location of the Dark Energon?" Optimus explained the situation before turning to Ratchet to ask as he nodded grimly knowing this would be harder for them to go into.

"I do." Ratchet said grimly.

"Where is it then?" Arcee asked but she soon regretted it after Ratchet said this.

"In the place where Cliffjumper was... destroyed." Ratchet told them and they could feel dread from this as Arcee looked shocked as she couldn't believe what she was hearing.

Meanwhile in the Decepticons ship, the Nemesis, Megatron can feel something calling out to him and he knew what it was.

"My Dark Energon shard... is pulsating. I can feel it. Something is calling out for me. Starscream." Megatron told himself before calling to his second in command who bowed down to his presence.

"Yes, Lord Megatron?" Starscream bowed down before looking up to him.

"How may I serve you?" He asked as Megatron glanced at him with a red optic.

"Assemble a team." Megatron ordered as Starscream stood up in confusion.

"A team? What for?" Starscream asked curiously.

"If the Dark Energon inside me is pulsating, it means that there is something out and I must have it. Soundwave." Megatron called the silent Decepticon as Soundwave showed them through his visor that he has detected a small faint energy spike.

"This energy... is it? Dark Energon." Starscream recognizes the place but why there.

"Yes. The location?" Megatron asked as Starscream made sure to double check if it was the same place.

"The Energon mine I've destroyed when you returned. So this means..." Starscream knew that something was happening there that was causing the dark energon inside Megatron to react as he nodded.

"Yes that the Dark Energon shard that we used on that day is still intact and is calling for his one true master. We must retrieve this shard before it falls into Autobots hands." Megatron said as he looked to Soundwave as the silent Decepticon was making sure that they have their coordinates to the old energon mine to retrieve the shard.
