A Simple Fisherman in RWBY
Chapter 03
- Argenti Ovans –
I looked at the portal on the water in thought as I scratched my head in confusion. It took roughly 15 minutes to catch this basket full of berries. Would it take the same amount of time, or was I just lucky?
I don't remember how long it took me for my Mudkip, but it was much longer than 15 minutes if I remember correctly… So, do I get a better reward the longer it takes, or god forbid it is a fucking Gacha…! Well, there is only one way to find out.
I looked at the portal with interest as I cast my line again and relaxed in my seat...
"Let's get it," I shouted very manly.
[Eleven minutes later…]
I felt something tugging my lines as I pulled hard enough to bring it back to me. I used my strength as I sighed in relief since it wasn't so bad compared to the time when I got my Mudkip.
[SPLASH!]
Finally, this time, I didn't fall onto the ground as I looked at what I got from my fishing.
Honestly, I was fucking confused by the thing I just got. I took this small reddish candy in my hand since I had no idea what the fuck this thing could be and how it was related to the Pokémon world. I still had no idea how my hook got a hold of it, so I was pretty damn confused about how it hooked a small sphere. I will leave it to semblance bullshit at this point... Fortunately, my doubts were cleared immediately after I took hold of the item.
Krabby Candy x1: A candy that is packed with energy. When given to certain Pokémon, it will increase all their stats at once.
Yeah, I don't know how I could identify something like that, but I chalked it off to semblance bullshit yet again. Since it made my life easier, then why question it? I may love Pokémon, but I can't possibly remember everything related to it. So, this identification part was a life-saver.
THANK YOU, O MIGHTY ALPACA!
Ah, wait, shouldn't it be twin brothers since I'm in Remnant…?
Eh, Who cares about those losers…
MIGHTY APALCA ALL THE WAY!
[THUNDER VFX]
I jumped in surprise as I heard a thunderstrike coming from the portal. I held my breath as I walked close enough to inspect it nervously. I quickly let out a sigh of relief when i saw nothing outrageous at the other side of the portal. I scratched my head in embarrassment since it couldn't be Arceus who had heard me... it was probably just a coincidence. I was overthinking about it.
Anyway! It was great and all, but I didn't have a Krabby with me, only my cute mudkip, and I doubt this candy would be helpful to me in any way since there are over a thousand Pokémon discovered right now, and I doubt I would get a Krabby anytime soon.
What made me even more sad was that the portal connected to the Pokémon world started to get smaller. I don't know how long I have left before it closes naturally. So, I better not waste my time and continue my fishing spree.
I threw the Krabby candy aside in my backpack, cast my line to the open pond, and waited.
[One minute later]
"That was quick!" I thought, shocked, as I felt a tug on my fishing rod, so I didn't hesitate to pull it back with my strength.
[Splash!]
The new item I got was a nice packaging box with some food inside. This type of food was very familiar to me, but I couldn't remember where it originated. So I didn't waste my time. I opened the box and held one of them in my hand.
Lumiose Galette x7: A popular treat in Lumiose City. It can be used to cure any status condition a Pokémon may have.
Wow!
That's a great reward that I got! Moreover, I didn't expect that galette to be this great. It makes me wonder if the "cure any status condition "would also work for a human like me, not just Pokémon. I licked my dry lips from the alluring scent of the Lumiose Galette as I decisively shut the box to stop the temptation. They were too good to be wasted by simply eating them...
It could be a lovely trump card in various scenarios, like if I needed to cure someone. Moreover, they could also be my test subjects because there was no way I would try to poison myself or something like that to try the effect foolishly.
Because you die when you die...Except for some people, y'all feel me, and I was definitely not one of them.
Anyway, I saw that my hole's current situation has shrunk significantly. I wonder how long it would last, as its current size wasn't any larger than a ball.
Alright, there's no time to lose, so I might as well cast my line for the last time!
[Nine minutes later…]
[SPLASH!]
You already know the vibes at this point, so I won't repeat myself as I pulled the new catch quickly. I effortlessly caught the box dropping from the sky but had to drop my fishing rod.
It was a beautiful wooden box firmly shut. Obviously, I got curious about my prize as I opened the box and saw four beautiful pink apricorn.
Pink Apricorn x4: It has a pleasantly sweet scent.
Huh, that was a fascinating finding, but I don't think I could make any Poke ball with it since I do not know how to make them or any tool, either. So it was a bummer, but I can still prepare for the future when it comes to it.
...Hey, I suddenly thought of something. Maybe I could catch a Grimm like a Nevermore-type shi. That was worth a try when i have a Pokeball with me.
After all, who knows, maybe I'll get a book about crafting Pokeball or kidnap someone who knows it.
Hahahaha…
[…]
Huh, I wonder if it is possible to fish someone out…
Let's keep this dangerous thought to myself, and maybe I will fish out a Pokeball someday.
Ah… the portal I created was gone after I pulled the pink Capricorn box. That's a bummer since I didn't pull the Kyogre yet. I took out my Scroll to check on my stopwatch to find it at around 35 minutes. But I also didn't start it when I first got my Mudkip… So let's say it took me around 25-30 minutes for the Mudkip, maybe around an hour.
So one portal = 1 hour.
That's pretty cool and simple, but now the real question was… If I could open another portal to the Pokémon World or another world right now. I looked at the time on my Scroll and saw I had enough time to try it.
So let's go for science! I cast my line as I pumped my aura toward my fishing rod.
[SPLOUCH!]

[Five minutes later...]
That was anticlimactic… Nothing happened as the pond was still calm like I first came… well there was also Mudkip swimming around the pond, but that was beside the point.
Maybe I needed to concentrate on a mental image of the world like the Pokémon world.
I sighed, continued my semblance experimentation, and pumped even more aura toward the rod as I mentally imagined an image of the Pokémon World.
[Five more minutes later...]

…Nothi—Woah!
[SPLASH!]
Huh, at least I got a nice, beautiful fish. That's neat.
Hop to the water bucket you go, buddy.
I was lost in my chair and began thinking about my semblance. It gave me headaches. First, it was painfully apparent that my semblance was indeed a Gacha system...
Fuck me, I thought I escaped myself from such a lifestyle, and yet it crawled back into my second life.
You can never escape from the Gacha once you get drawn into it, huh?
Another point was that I can't immediately open another portal after the last one just closed, so maybe there will be a cooldown? I'm confident it wasn't my aura since my reserve was quickly refilled during this fishing session.
So it might genuinely be a cooldown placed on my semblance, which was fair since I might fish all day until I became the very like no one ever was. However, I was utterly clueless about the time it would take me to go back and fish again.
Ah, well, I can always come back tomorrow and see if it was at least 24 hours, or I might actually cry since I need to pull more.
For now, I might as well do some regular fish with Mudkip for today's food. I won't have to shop at the grocery store and save some money. I should also visit Grandma Shanna for some pots or gardening stuff related to planting the berries I just got.
It would be nice to grow some of them, like the Oran berry. I know jack shit about that kind of stuff, but I'm pretty sure it won't be that hard, right? Oh well, there's also the internet for that kind of stuff. I can also learn the basics and apply what I remember from the various media about Pokémon related to berry planting.
Wait, did they actually show any of them…? I don't remember anything beyond the game part now. I held my head as my head began to hurt from all this planning.
Yeah, nope! No more thinking and more fishing with my boy Mudkip!
"Help me catch some fish, Mudkip! That's our dinner!" I shouted to the best blue boy.
"Mudkip!" cried my loyal companion as he dived into the water as he heard me.
Like I said before, life was perfect.
Creation is hard, cheer me up!
