As David expected, as soon as the level up went through, his body began to go through instantaneous regeneration, fully restoring him to his peak state and become a bit stronger than before as well!
As he did put in everything with his mind, as soon as he swiped away the interface, he placed a hand onto the right side of his face, panting as the attributes started taking effect.
Instead of any sort of pain or discomfort, this time, he felt... warm? David stopped panting, but kept his hand on his face, as he didn't want to show how he could magically get better without drinking any potions after such a fight just happened.
He focused on the warm feeling that was flowing through his body. It was constantly strengthening him as he felt how everything had changed by a margin, even his spirit as it grew slightly larger like one of those dantians you usually read in those martial arts novels.
His draconic side had all been retracted as this small transformation was happening. This included his ears, canines, slightly longer nails, marking, and etc as well.
For around a minute, he had been closing his eyes to feel his body before opening them again. David opened his eyes only to see a door in front of him, reminding him that he needs to go to the next exam.
"Phew! I'm definitely not gonna win, but let's try!" David pumped himself up as he slammed both his hands onto his cheeks, waking him up fully.
He gracefully walked up to the door and entered it, and immediately started to look around his surroundings and {Mini-Map} to familiarize himself with it.
His surroundings had now become an arena, it was extremely small, only around 100 yards by 100 yards. The arena... well, I mean, it was quite basic, but it at least gets the job done. The arena was just an elevated platform with tiles, no pillars or any of that fancy stuff, just the arena and the cold hard marble around it.
As David walked up the walkway, he unconsciously gulped. Even without the help of his {Mini-Map}, he could already feel the pressure emitting from the person in the arena.
*Boom!*
Arriving at the edge of the arena, he suddenly felt that the person in front of him release a strong burst of his aura, making David physically slouch a bit as he groaned in displeasure.
The man in front of him was... also wearing a uniform, but his figure was so buff, it might as well be ripped apart. He was holding a greatsword the size of himself, it had no guard on it, making it resemble a certain... Shikai... (Mn? Anyone get it? Yes... no... maybe?)
"You have arrived... You're the first student to defeat their instructor since about a decade ago..." he commented with a raised brow.
"W-well... thank you sir, shall we get started?" David drew his sword, switching into 'battle' mode. His stance was slightly sluggish, being pulled down by a literally superior 'lifeform'.
"Let's... Begin!" the examiner had already started sprinting towards David while pulling out his greatsword.
*Slash!*
"Ugh! His aura's still weighing me down..." David was slightly struggling but was able to dodge a downward slash which broke the area of tiles into pieces.
*Slash! Slash! Slash! Slash!*
The examiner continued to skillfully swing his greatsword repeatedly at him as if it was just a twig in his hands, it was hard enough with being weighed down so David had received a few superficial wounds.
Even when he separated from the examiner, his jumping power was out of the world and they constantly traveled all over the field with him swinging and David dodging while also getting his uniform ripped up.
*Shing!... Phew! Ching! Shing! Shing!... Ching!*
'I'm so fucked! The pressure is getting stronger too! Damn!' David couldn't just keep dodging and had already set up a thick {Mana Shield} around himself.
Picking up his sword again, David threw several orbs of lightning at the examiner, buying time as he was slashing the orbs apart.
'Do I have to? Fine! Fuck it!' This was an academy made for teaching talents so might as well show as much as possible so they can actually teach you something right?
David threw his sword which was currently enveloped in lightning while the examiner was being surrounded with {Earth Spikes}.
David had already transformed back into his semi-draconic state, with nearly everything but the wings and some other body parts being shrunk.
Channeling the flux in his body, he forcefully spreads it to his hands, creating enlarged claws on his knuckles, {Flux Claws}.
He charged at the examiner as his {Mana Shield} was blocking off some of the pressure and went on a scratching rampage.
*Phew! Phew! Phew!*
'So he really is a dragon hybrid... he fights like a human though...' the examiner thought as he twisted his body, doing a horizontal ax kick, blowing David away to the other edge of the arena.
*Boom!*
"Not good enough if you wanna beat me!" As David was rolling through the tiles, he threw himself up at the last second, seeing how the examiner was swinging his greatsword at him while he was mid-air.
*Kaakakakakakaka*
"Fuck!" David quickly deployed his wings, placing his sword in front of him to block as much of the blow as possible as he was flung with his wings desperately flapping away to balance him.
While David was spinning in the air, the examiner was watching closely to see what he would do, since this was a test and he was up against a weak kid, there's no reason for him to go all out...
"Let's get everything over with already..." He taunted with a hand over his hand as he yawned.
Seeing the expression on his face, David was irritated, but he couldn't do anything to him, especially since he was most likely one of the top-tier warriors at the peak of the 4th tier.
*Boom! Shing! Shing! Shing! Shing!*
Finally stabilizing himself, all David saw was a light that was aiming for his wings... but he couldn't react in the slightest as he felt something going through them. Looking back, he saw that both of his wings had holes in them and blanked out as his originally shining eyes became dull.
Falling into the marble, a crack appeared in the spot he landed as dust and smoke filled the area around him.
"I lost..." David admitted.
"Good fight. Not many of your level could last that long." he praised.
David didn't respond as his body had lit up and broken in shards of light. Seeing that the test was over, the examiner had also returned as he also turned into shards of light.

**(Back in the testing room)**
.
In the first exam room, David, who was currently unconscious suddenly jolted and opened his eyes.
"Well, shit. They really did have an array set up just in case someone dies..." he muttered.
As he was lost in his thoughts, the speaker to the right of him spoke, "Thank you for participating student. As a recommended student, you are exempt from doing the written test as you have sent it to us in advance. You may now leave as classes start tomorrow."
'Wait, advance? When did I? Oh... my 'homework' was a part of that.' David had an epiphany, remembering all those times back home where Sarah had given him a bunch of homework to fill out in the middle of the month.
"They wouldn't talk about classes if I didn't pass... would they? Meh, I'll just ask mother and father later." David stretched as he walked out of the exam room. His body was actually sore even if his real physical body wasn't there, being hit by tier 4 experts hurt like hell when you're not even a tier 3 yet...
