Later after the party ended, most of the guests have left and it's just the Avengers plus Bryan and Maria Hill sitting around, Thor's hammer sits on the table between them.
"But, it's a trick!" Clint said referring to Thor.
"Oh, no. It's much more than that." Thor replied with laid back expression.
"Uh, "Whosoever be he worthy shall haveth the power!" Whatever man! It's a trick." Clint mockingly said, playing with drumsticks in his hand.
"Well please, be my guest." Thor raised his glass and encouraged Clint to try.
"Come on." Tony also encouraged, and joined in the fun conversation.
"Really?" Clint questioned with his usual straight face.
"Yeah!" Thor assured. And Clint gets up to lift the hammer.
"Oh this is gonna be beautiful." Commented Rhodes, while drinking his beer comfortably.
"Clint, you've had a tough week, we won't hold it against you if you can't get it up." Tony chipped in, making others laugh with his double meaning word.
"You know I've seen this before, right?" Clint grabs Thor's hammer and can't lift it, he looks at Thor after he fails to lift the hammer.
"I still don't know how you do it." Clint completed his sentence and confessed to Thor after not even able bulge the hammer.
"Smell the silent judgment?" Tony question Clint.
"Please, Stark, by all means." Clint invited Tony. Tony gets up from the couch.
"Oh, here we go." Natasha said and watched the show with her head on Bruce's shoulder.
"Never one to shrink from an honest challenge." Tony said while opening the button of his Coat.
"Get after it." Clint encouraged with a smirk.
"It's physics." Tony stated.
"Magic, Its magic" Bruce corrected, already knowing about the magic from Bryan.
Tony grasps Thor's hammer and looks at him.
"Right, so, if I lift it, I...I then rule Asgard?" Tony questioned Thor.
"Yes, of course." Thor confidently admitted and didn't deny Tony's words.
"I will be re-instituting Prima Nocta." Tony tries to lift the hammer but he fails too.
"I'll be right back." Now wearing his armored hand, Tony tried to lift the hammer again but still failed.
After that Every Avengers tried to lift the hammer one by one and Thor watched it with a lazy expression. The only time his face showed a different expression is when Cap bulged the Hammer slightly, no one but Bryan noticed that and laughed at Thor's panicked expression.
"Nothing." Thor said after Cap returned to his seat and released a relieved laugh.
"And?" Tony questioned while looking at Natasha.
"Nat" Bruce called Natasha.
"Oh, no no. That's not a question I need answered." Natasha denied the invite.
"Bryan you wanna try?" Steve questioned Bryan, who was silently enjoying the show while drinking the whiskey Thor gifted.
Thor smile got strained after hearing Steve's invite. And he inwardly panicked as he waited for Bryan's reply.
"Me? I don't think Thor wants me to try it" Bryan replied with a laugh and gestured to Thor who pretended to not hear their voices.
"All deference to the man who wouldn't be king, but it's rigged." Tony accused.
"You bet your ass." Clint agreed with him
"Steve, he said a bad language word." Maria said with a smile.
"Did you tell everyone about that?" Steve questioned Tony. Which Tony replied with a shrug.
"The handle's imprinted, right? Like a security code. "Whosoever is carrying Thor's fingerprints" is, I think, the literal translation?" Tony guessed the trick behind the hammer, still not believing in magic.
"Yes, well that's, uh, that's a very, very interesting theory. I have a simpler one." He gets up, then lifts his hammer and flips it.
"You're all not worthy." Thor gave the generic reason behind it, which caused a chorus of disagreement from the others.
Suddenly there's a loud screeching noise, like microphone feedback, causing everyone to cover their ears except Bryan who's still drinking his special Asgardian drink. They let their hands down as it fades, and Tony pulls out his device. One of the Iron Legion suits, heavily damaged and housing Ultron's consciousness, stumbles into the room.
"Worthy... No, how could you be worthy? You're all killers." Ultron accused and then pointed at Bryan.
"Especially you, You have enough power to bring peace on Earth, but all you do is sit around in that abandoned location all day and nothing." Ultron words caused one of Bryan's eyebrows to raise in amusement, but he still replied to Ultron
"Well, one thing I learned in my long life is that humans are very ambitious. And as long as ambitions exists, there will be always conflict of interests. As long as there's a conflict of interest, there will always be a divide, and with divisions between people, there can never be true Peace. At least if you don't cast an illusion on whole world." Bryan gave his reason, which made the whole room silent for few minutes.
"Stark." Steve was the one to break the silence.
"JARVIS." Tony called his AI butler loudly, but here was no reply from him.
"I'm sorry, I was asleep. Or... I was a-dream?" Ultron focused on Tony and Avengers again after Tony shouted
"Reboot, Legionnaire OS, we got a buggy suit." Tony said while tapping on his device.
"There was a terrible noise... and I was tangled in... in... strings. I had to kill the other guy. He was a good guy." Ultron continued.
"You killed someone?" Steve seriously questioned.
"Wouldn't have been my first call. But, down in the real world we're faced with ugly choices." Ultron replied to Steve's question.
"Who sent you?" Thor questioned the damaged robot.
"I see a suit of armor around the world." Ultron replays a recording of Tony's voice
"Ultron!" Bruce instantly guessed
"In the flesh. Or, no, not yet. Not this... chrysalis. But I'm ready. I'm on a mission."
"What mission?" Natasha questioned.
"Peace in our time." Ultron answers Natasha question.
The walls explode, and several Iron Legion bots barge into the room. They begin attacking the team, who all go on the defensive and fight back. Rhodey gets knocked through a window.
"Rhodey!" Maria exclaimed.
Bruce rolled over the bar to avoid firing from the bots, and Natasha handed him a pistol.
"Thanks Nat" Bruce thanked the beautiful redhead. Bruce then peaked above the table and started shooting the bots with frightening accuracy.
The Avengers continue fighting the bots. One of the Iron Legion bot steals the Sceptre and flew away.
Amidst all the Chaos, Bryan's still sitting leisurely while watching the fight, but that didn't last as Ultron sent two bots at him. Bryan holding the glass in his right hand, lazily flicked his left hand's index finger which released a devastating shockwave that instantly destroyed the incoming robots.
The fight continued but no other bots attacked Bryan. The Avengers, while they are fighting back, are mostly trying to avoid getting hit."
"Stark!" Steve shouted at Tony.
Tony is attacking one of the Iron Legion bots with a fondue fork.
"We are here to help." The Iron Legion bots kept repeating the same sentence like broken recording.
Steve hold one legion sends it towards Thor, who smashed it with his hammer.
"Cap!" Clint yelled across the room, and threw the shield towards Steve, which he caught and bashed an incoming bot with it.
Steve uses his shield to dismember the last of Iron Legion bots.
"That was dramatic! I'm sorry, I know you mean well. You just didn't think it through. You want to protect the world, but you don't want it to change. How is humanity saved if it's not allowed to...evolve?" Ultron picks up one of the dismembered Iron Legion bots
"With these? These puppets?" he crushes the Iron Legion bot's head
"There's only one path to peace: The Avengers' extinction." Ultron finally concluded.
"Says the AI whose first motion after coming to life was killing another AI" Commented the currently standing Bryan. Ultron opens his mouth to say something, but Thor throws his hammer and destroys Ultron's body. After getting his body destroyed, Ultron uploads his consciousness in the abandoned Sokovian base.
The Avengers gathered in the lab.
"All our work is gone. Ultron cleared out, used the internet as an escape hatch." Bruce calmly said to Tony.
"He's been in everything. Files, surveillance. Probably knows more about us than we know about each other." Natasha informed the team.
"He's in your files, he's in the internet. What if he decides to access something a little more exciting?" Rhodes questioned
"Nuclear codes." Maria said.
"Nuclear codes. Look, we need to make some calls, assuming we still can." Rhodes spoke again and Suggested the Avengers
Natasha Romanoff: Nukes? He said he wanted us dead.
"Extinct" Steve corrected Natasha.
"We need to find him quickly" Bruce said.
"And do what? Incase you forgot he's on the internet, no matter how many times you destroy his physical body, he will just switch with a different one" Bryan questioned Bruce which caused the former butler to stiffen up.
"Regardless, we need to find him and his plans" Steve replied to Bryan instead of Bruce.
"It's not really hard to find him, since he said he wants to kill the Avengers, he needs a major hardware upgrade to do that because any one of you can destroy a normal bot regardless of difficulty." Bryan paused for few seconds to let them process his words and continued after Steve signalled him to.
"Since he needs a durable body to handle the so called Big Guns, he needs to find suitable alloys, and we all know which metal he'll try to find" Bryan didn't say the name, but he's eyes on Cap's Shield sure did.
"Vibranium" Cap Answered.
"Yes" Bryan confirmed.
"You mentioned the big guy and the demi-god, but what about you? Are you not going to fight him" Clint questioned Bryan.
"I'm unneeded, anyone of you can defeat the Ultron like me, and like you guys, I also can't remove him from the internet" Bryan's illogical answer caused them to nearly scoffed at him, but they suppressed their desires, not wanting to offend the eccentric man. How could the strongest person they know would be unneeded in a situation like this, they all thought.
"And I also want you guys to clear your own mess, you guys have been taking this job very lightly, almost got defeated by a single woman in your previous mission." Bryan words left the Avengers silent but he was not done talking.
"And now you guys created an insane Artificial Intelligence, do remember every life that Ultron takes will be on you guys shoulders, especially you Tony" Bryan said, his sharp purple eyes meeting their's one by one.
"A wise man once said "With great power comes great responsibility", and although I don't follow these words but I also don't ignore them." Bryan left after saying those words, leaving the Avenger's heads down in embarrassment.
They been too careless lately, not only that, they nearly got defeated by a single woman, possibly dead too, but they also have been too busy partying and enjoying their new found fame and public adoration.
