Kapitel 311: There’s Still Some Hope Left

Redakteur: EndlessFantasy Translation

By nightfall, the conversation between the forest fairies and Baiyi's posse was reaching its end. Everyone was preparing to retire for the night, including Baiyi, who had wrapped up his conversation. The forest fairy leader bid Baiyi and his group a good night, and the large ant left behind some fruits, vegetables, and unlucky little critters before disappearing into the night.

Right before the forest fairy leader left, the Ant produced something and tossed it to the soul armature. "You're a friend, and you are someone who withstood the test. This is our little memento; I hope you'll like it."

Baiyi raised his hand to see what it was, and a Nota the fairy, who was also curious, flew over to have a look. A few moments after Baiyi raised his hand, the fairy screamed out loud.

TL’S MUSINGS:

Calling themselves “The Sextant”? Gifting a skull for someone in an earnest eagerness? Man, these ants are my kind of friends! So adorable!

I have always wanted a complete set of lab rat skeleton… or a cat’s. But I have to wait for cats to die, and they don’t die. They forgot that they could, I bet.

I almost got my lab rat skeleton! We had purchased lab rats for dissection in Biology class that time (I do wish there’s another way to do science. No one in class could steel themselves to gas the rats into deep coma, and my biology teacher was pregnant at the time— there is a taboo that forbids a pregnant woman to kill— so I volunteered to gas all 15 rats. I don’t think it was pleasant at all), so after these dissections, we were supposed to dispose the bodies into the trash.

If they ceased to be the school’s property after once they were dead, I wanted one for myself. I asked my teacher cryptically if forcing a corpse to reveal its bones could be done in a lab setting… and if she likes jigsaw puzzle.

My teacher looked at me, unimpressed, and said, “No way. You’ll have to boil and cook the corpse for hours to remove the flesh and tissues. Then you have to pick the bones out and clean them and— you know what, you’re not doing it. Also, assembling bones isn’t jigsaw puzzle, kiddo!”

Aww. She saw right through me! I still wanted to have a set of skeleton, but… Well, I didn’t wanna sound too eager to want the rat’s stuffs, especially when all of the corpses were close to us while we had this conversation. It’s like talking about remarrying to some guy called Chad when standing next to your dead spouse’s body, you know? … Or maybe it’s nothing like that.

Anyway, we buried the rats. I hope my rat hadn’t suffered during my dissection.
