It took a full ten minutes before the artillery fire stopped. Under the smoke plumes which covered the battlefield, the shockwaves had changed the surrounding terrain. 

The ground was full of craters. The location where the abyssal legion was earlier had caved in a few hundred meters. It was blasted into a hideous mess.
