Lear wanted to be the future leader of the solar system. That meant that Taros had to be dealt with, it couldn't be helped. His position in the Republic of Hades was too low. It was not that he didn't want it, it was just that his ability was simply insufficient. But through Lear, he would be able to achieve his interests.
