Xiao Kecheng was ranked third in the Xiao Family. His status actually didn't hold much value in the family because they had Xiao Meng and Xiao Keyun… His status had long been compressed to an inch by the other two's radiance.
His business acumen could not be compared to Xiao Keyun's and his cultivation could not be compared to Xiao Meng's. It could be said that he had always been in an awkward situation in Xiao Family, but at the same time… he was also someone who harbored a lot of ambitions.
When he saw that the Demonic Fish's enormous claws were about to flatten Xiao Keyun into a meat patty, his heart did not feel the slightest twinge of sorrow a relative should feel. Instead, boundless excitement coursed through his whole body like rushing water.
"If Xiao Keyun dies… Southern City's Xiao Family's successor will be me!" Excitement was clear in Xiao Kecheng's eyes.
With regards to jade:
A common misconception regarding this stone is its definition. The western and arguably the most common English definition of the word 'jade' refers to two particular minerals: Nephrite and Jadeite, with Jadeite being the more iconic and expensive of the two.
In Chinese culture however, the term 'jade' refers more to a process or a defintion, rather than those two minerals. Nephrite and Jadeite are definitely a part of the Chinese definition of ‘jade', but they aren't the only minerals included under that umbrella definition. In Chinese, Nephrite is known as Ruan Yu or Soft Jade while Jadeite is Ying Yu, or Hard Jade. There are a variety of names for the different variations of said minerals. Notably however, minerals such as Lapis Lazuli, Serpentine, Amber, etc. are included under the umbrella of 'jade'. Those aren't 'jade' persay to most Westerners.
In general, you can think of the word 'jade' as something you attach to any mineral or matter that exhibit the characteristics of Hard or Soft Jade. In otherwords, any mineral or matter that has been 'jadified' and now has a luster and smoothness you would associate with 'jade'. It is worth noting however, that just because something has that level of luster, doesn't mean that it is automatically 'jade' or has been 'jadified', there are still some conditions.
So while the chapter explicitly mentions a jade bottle, it might not actually be jade at all.
