StarveCleric Severing the Three Necrophorus is a saying inside a Taoist book. It's said that there are three necrophorus (a bug that appears in corpses) within the human body, namely the Benevolent Necrophorus, Malevolent Necrophorus, and Ego Necrophorus.
Severing the Three Necrophorus means to rid one of useless fixation over certain things so as to allow one to better control his emotions. It's said that one who has severed his three necrophorus would be able to reach enlightenment.
It might seem weird why a person would sever both their benevolence and malevolence. Typically speaking, the concept of good and evil, benevolence and malevolence are two concepts that are at odds with one another, but how they are discerned is through an individual's perception, making them highly subjective.
So, what a person perceive to be good could be evil to another person. So, it might be meaningless to persistently hold onto such concepts as it would only limit a person's outlook.
