"...Master, order retrieve cart..."
"Retrieve cart!"
As the cart reappeared, Apollo smiled and petted the girls head.
"Oh...I see! Thanks! Great job, girl! Great job!"
A small smile appears on the lips of the engineer girl but it soon vanishes as Apollo retrieves his hand.
(Good, now there should be enough to build another lab and speed up things!)
Looking through the SoW list Apollo found not only the Lab listed but something called a Nest as well. Clicking on the Nest, a small description appeared along the requirements and confirm button.
[Nest: A building specialized in producing servant units. Can produce 25 servants at the same time, but needs to be connected to a Lab and can only grow the servants already designed and grown in the Lab.]
(Great! This is exactly what I need!)
Apollo clicked on Build without a second thought.
The machine started and a counter with 6:00 remaining was displayed.
"6 hours? Well, not bad...wait, how long do I have again?"
Activating his bracer, Apollo saw there was only 17 hours left.
"Fuck! This wont make it in time!"
Because there were 17 hours left, if we subtracted the 6 hours the factory needed to produce the SoW, there would be only 11 hours remaining for the invasion, but creating servants would take 12 whole hours, so they would arrive late by at least 1 hour.
"It seems like I will have to somehow survive this first hour with only 10 units..."
"Well, looking at the bright side, as long as I survive for 1 hour we will receive reinforcements, so let's focus on defense at least until the reinforcements arrive!"
(That's not all. We got no intelligence on the enemy, we don't know it's number, strength nor characteristics, so taking an aggressive stance is suicide, it would be the best to build some walls and prepare some retreat plans if possible. No matter what, I don't plan to risk my life and die here.)
Apollo looked toward the distance, seeing a wall of mountains on all sides.
(As long as they didn't design this "game" as a death trap, the enemies shouldn't be too strong nor should they fly...at least for now)
(If I am right, the enemy will have a limited number of routes they can take to get here, so I should try adding some traps or barriers to stop their advances.)
(Another good idea would be building some defensive constructions like walls and such, but because our buildings are so far from each other, we would need a massive amount of resources and time to do it, so unfortunately it's out of question.)
(One thing I didn't see in the list of weapons was shields. Well, its not like shield is a weapon, but it should still be there, right? I wonder if it's possible to unable them by research in time... if not I think we could improvise some with whatever we can find. Relying only in a wall of spears makes me feel too vulnerable, even more if the enemy has any kind of long range attack. Oh, wait, will the enemies even have a ranged attack?)
"GOD DAMN IT! THIS LACK OF INTEL IS KILLING ME!!!!"
Apollo suddenly shouted out loud, scaring the little the engineer girl, making little tears start to accumulate in her eyes. Luckily he noticed it right away and comforted the girl, petting her head.
(Damn! I know these are drones, but I'm already regretting my thoughtless actions on making such a cute little thing to fight for me. And if I feel bad now, after the fight start, I will feel like a monster when they die. Maybe my first priority should not be about creating defenses but creating a true warrior servant instead of relying on these little ones and having my conscience hurt every time I have to use them.)
"Grrr...."
Feeling his tummy protest, a new idea sprouts on his mind.
(Or maybe my first priority should be eating something first...)
"Go call all your sisters, let's meet at the Palace."
The girl nodded and departed fast while Apollo lazily followed behind, heading toward the Palace.
15 minutes later, inside the Palace, Apollo was the first to arrive and the first to notice a big problem... There was no food in the Palace. Actually to be more exact, even the refrigerator was missing, leaving only empty space behind.
"What the hell!? Where is my food!?"
Only seconds later it dawned to Apollo that his food had been transported to the Lab by his own orders.
(Wait, does this means all those delicious fruits are now gone, and now all I have left are the turnips grown in the farm??)
"Gah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Apollo screamed in frustration, but there was no one to blame but himself, making him even more frustrated.
Minutes later, as the girls started to arrive, Apollo had calmed down and conformed himself that eating turnips was better than staying hungry. The first to arrive was the researcher girl, followed by the farmer girl and maid girl, but no matter how long they waited, neither the soldier girl nor the engineer girl showed any sign of appearing.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
A bit far away from the Palace, near a small cave in the mountain, a panting engineer girl slowly moved forward. She was tired from running all the way here after relaying the message to her other sisters. Now she proceeded to her last sister, but the last signal received from her was at the entrance of this cave.
Pat, pat, pat, pat...
Her foot steps echoed as she entered the dark cave.
The shadows scared her, but she still proceeded forward bravely to fulfill her master's orders. Luckily the cave was full of glowing mushrooms, that were barely enough to illuminate the cave. Well, maybe saying illuminating the cave was going too far. The best they did was give a vague sight of the cave's outline, showing the shape of the terrain. But still, that was enough to enable her to walk forward without any other source of light.
Pat, pat, pat, pat...Stop.
Suddenly, the engineer girl sees right ahead a huge black figure. Because of the dark, she is only able to see the outline, so she proceeds with caution, one step at a time. Finally, as she approach closer, the figure suddenly moves, making her scream.
"Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Half an hour later, Apollo was getting really impatient while waiting for the last two girls. He had already sent the farming girl to fetch the turnips and let the maid girl do the cooking, making some turnip soup, turnip salad and cooked turnip to boot.
(Maybe I should send the others to look for them? Did something happened? If it did, will sending more of them even help? Fuck! Let's wait another 5 minutes, if they don't appear we will go all together look for them!)
5 minutes pass and they still had not appeared.
"All right, everyone grab a lance! Let's go looking for them!"
All of them grab a lance and start heading out but just as they take a few steps out of the house, the maid stops Apollo and points out at a direction.
"Master, look!"
Apollo looks at the direction the maid points out and sees in the distance, getting out of the forest, a HUGE boar.
True title:
The Plan, some Turnips and a boar.
My vacations start now, at least officially. Unofficially I will have to keep working from home, but still, this will leave me more time to write, so it's finally time to catch up those late chapters!
