Kapitel 8: Chapter 8: I will be back soon

"

Lira's fork stopped mid-air, her eyes locking onto Vadal's. She looked at him sadly. "When will you be back?" she asked, her voice tinged with concern.

Vadal's expression was neutral. "I'll be back in two days' time."

Lira nodded, her eyes dropping to her food. "Okay," she said softly.

Vadal's eyes narrowed, sensing that something was off. "What's wrong?" he asked, his voice low and even.

Lira forced a smile onto her face. "Nothing, just that I'll miss you. But since you won't be long, just two days, I'll survive until you come back."

Vadal's eyes narrowed, his gaze piercing as he studied Lira's expression. He wasn't convinced by her words, sensing that there was more to her sadness than just missing him. He leaned back in his chair, his voice low and even. "I'll make sure to bring you back something special," he said, his eyes never leaving hers.

Lira's smile faltered for a moment, but she quickly recovered, relieved that Vadal hadn't pushed the issue further. "That's sweet of you," she said, her voice light and airy. She resumed eating, her mind racing with thoughts of Laurent and his plan.

Vadal's eyes lingered on Lira, his mind working overtime to unravel the mystery behind her sadness. He knew her too well, and he could sense that she was hiding something from him. He made a mental note to keep a closer eye on her, to uncover the truth behind her secrets.

After eating dinner, Lira went to her room, her mind still reeling from the events of the day. She sat on her bed, her thoughts drifting back to her conversation with Laurent. But what really had her worried was Vadal's sudden announcement about his business trip. She couldn't shake off the feeling that it was all part of a larger plan.

Lira's eyes narrowed as she thought about Vadal's words. He had been acting strangely all day, and she couldn't help but wonder what he was really on his mind. Was his business trip just a cover for something more sinister?

As she sat there, Lira felt a sense of unease settling in the pit of her stomach. She knew that Vadal was a powerful man, and she couldn't help but wonder what he had planned.

Lira sighed, knowing that she would have to wait until tomorrow to see what Vadal's plan really was. She could only hope that she would be able to stay one step ahead of him.

Lira woke up early, feeling a sense of unease in the pit of her stomach. She got dressed quickly and made her way to Vadal's room, hoping to catch him before he left for his business trip. But when she arrived, she found that he was already gone

Lira's eyes scanned the room, taking in the neatly made bed and the empty space where Vadal's luggage had been. Her gaze fell on a note on the bed, written in Vadal's familiar scrawl. "I'll be back soon," it read. "Be good."

Lira felt a mix of emotions as she read the note. She was relieved that Vadal was gone, but at the same time, she couldn't shake off the feeling that he was still watching her. She crumpled the note in her hand, feeling a sense of frustration and unease.

"Madam, good morning," the butler said, walking into the room with a respectful bow. "Breakfast is ready."

Lira smiled, feeling a sense of warmth and comfort at the butler's familiar greeting. "Good morning," she replied, her voice soft and gentle. "Thank you for letting me know."

The butler nodded, her eyes crinkling at the corners as she smiled. "Shall I have it brought up to your room, madam?" he asked, his voice low and smooth.

Lira hesitated for a moment, then shook her head. "No, I'll come down," she said, standing up and smoothing out her dress.

As Lira followed the butler downstairs, she felt a sense of normalcy wash over her. The warm scent of freshly baked bread and the sound of sizzling bacon filled the air, making her stomach growl with hunger.

Lira sat down at the table, the butler pouring her a steaming cup of coffee. She added a splash of cream and took a sip, savoring the rich flavor. The butler stood discreetly to the side, waiting to refill her cup or attend to any other needs.

As she ate, Lira's mind began to wander. She thought about Vadal and his sudden departure, wondering what the business trip is about. She thought about Laurent and his secret plan, feeling a thrill of excitement mixed with fear. And she thought about her own feelings, torn between her loyalty to Laurent and her growing attraction to Vadal.

Just as Lira was getting lost in her thoughts, the butler cleared her throat discreetly. "Madam, shall I have the car brought around for you?" he asked, his voice low and respectful.

Lira looked up, startled. "Oh, no, thank you," she said, shaking her head. "I don't think I'll be going out today."

The butler nodded, his expression neutral. "Very well, madam," he said. "If you need anything, just ring."

Lira nodded, watching as the butler discreetly withdrew from the room. She was left alone with her thoughts, the silence of the house enveloping her like a shroud. She finished her breakfast, the food tasteless in her mouth as her mind whirled with thoughts of Vadal and Laurent.

As she pushed her plate away, Lira knew she had a decision to make.

Lira's mind was made up. She had to meet Laurent, no matter the risk. She couldn't just sit around and wait for Vadal to return, not when she had a feeling that something big was about to go down. And besides, she had promised Laurent that she would meet him, and she couldn't back out now.

But as she thought about meeting Laurent, Lira couldn't shake off the feeling of guilt. She had promised Vadal that she would never meet Laurent again, and now she was about to break that promise. What if Vadal found out? What would he do

Lira pushed aside her doubts and focused on the task at hand. She needed to know what Laurent and her step-sister were planning, and she needed to know now. She couldn't just sit around and wait for them to make their move

"Husband, I am sorry," Lira whispered, her voice barely audible. "But I will break my promise again. Don't be too upset if you find out. I need to do it. It's for your own good and safety."

Lira's eyes turned red as she spoke, her fists clenched in frustration. She felt trapped and helpless, torn between her loyalty to Vadal and her need to protect him.

The room was empty, but Lira's words seemed to hang in the air, a desperate plea to a husband who wasn't there to hear her. She felt a pang of loneliness, wondering if anyone would ever understand her motivations.
