Kapitel 9: As long as you don't regret it

"Hello."

At that moment, the voices of Alice and Amelia could be heard from outside.

"Can someone inside open the door?"

The sudden sound startled the students, and they all turned pale upon hearing it.

Sterling then remembered the two girls outside and nonchalantly went to open the door.

"Don't open the door, there are zombies outside!"

Abigail hurriedly tried to stop him.

"It's okay, I've killed all the zombies."

Sterling's tone was indifferent as he pushed aside the barrier and let the two girls in.

Then everyone saw the two girls fully armed, and the room fell silent, not a sound was heard.

"Hello, we hope we're not disturbing you?"

Without waiting for permission, the two girls, carrying their weapons, walked straight to Sterling.

"Wow, isn't that the big star from the sports department, Alice and Amelia? I didn't recognize you with the football helmets on."

One of the rich second-generation kids wanted to approach them to get close, aiming for the weapons in the girls' arms.

But as soon as he made a move, Sterling glared, and the rich kids all fell silent, reluctantly muttering and stepping back.

"Just wanted to say hi."

Sterling pushed the two girls towards the group of girls.

"Distribute the weapons to everyone, these are all the means to stay alive!"

The two girls were a bit uneasy, and they dumped all the weapons they were holding on the ground.

"Help yourselves."

Abigail had a strange feeling about Sterling. She hadn't noticed when they were in school that Sterling could be so brave, which made Abigail's girlish heart start to feel love.

But when she saw the two school flowers getting so close to Sterling, jealousy arose in Abigail's heart. She approached Sterling and whispered softly:

"Seems like you guys are quite familiar, how did you meet?"

"I just met them upstairs."

Sterling explained casually.

"Oooh, met upstairs, let me tell you, you know, these days those people have gone crazy, these two girls must have been unclean for a while."

Abigail spoke with a strong accent, naturally carrying a hint of sarcasm.

Sterling frowned.

"Is it necessary? Don't hit someone in the face, don't insult someone by exposing their weaknesses."

Abigail became even more sarcastic.

"Oooh, you're defending them after just meeting, I've been your classmate for years, and I've never seen you protect me like this."

Sterling's face was stern.

"Are you done?"

The atmosphere between the two became more and more awkward, and the rift grew larger.

At that moment.

Alice and Amelia each held a baseball bat and walked to Sterling's side.

"Are you all international students from H country? You won't discriminate against us, will you?"

Originally, Abigail wanted to ease the awkward atmosphere with Sterling.

But seeing the two girls fawning over Sterling again, a wave of jealousy hit her, and she turned her head and ordered everyone:

"What are you waiting for, distribute them, Sterling said, these are the means to survive and live!"

The female students also began to distribute the weapons. There were few guns, on average one per boy, but there were many baseball bats and other weapons, enough for everyone to have two baseball bats each with some left over.

Only the rich second-generation students had none, which made them angry, muttering sarcastically.

"This is unfair, you all have weapons, what do we use?"

"Yeah, what do you let us use, fight zombies with our bare hands, what's the difference from killing people?"

"Sterling, if you act unilaterally, I will definitely sue you after it's safe, and have you imprisoned."

Sterling's eyes turned cold, and he suddenly raised his gun and aimed it at the rich second-generation student.

"I am acting unilaterally, and I can kill you right now!"

With the gun pointed at his head, the rich second-generation student immediately became cowardly, like a homeless dog, without any dignity, and immediately knelt on the ground and started kowtowing.

"Sterling!"

"Please, we were wrong, we beg of you, be magnanimous and give us one or two weapons to handle."

"We know we were wrong, for the sake of being fellow townsfolk, please help us."

Before Sterling could speak, Abigail waved her hand.

"Distribute the extra weapons to them."

"You!"

Sterling glared, and Abigail stood her ground, neither yielding to the other.

"Thank you, Abigail, you are truly a lady of a noble family."

The rich second-generation kids flattered her as they scrambled for the remaining weapons.

Abigail and Sterling remained at an impasse.

"Only you can save outsiders, can't I help my classmates? My father is a diplomat; he told me that in times of difficulty, we should help each other!"

Sterling clenched his teeth and said coldly:

"As long as you don't regret it."

After that, he ignored Abigail and from then on, the two former classmates who had admired each other began to grow apart, with no chance of reconciliation.

...

Gymnasium, next to the window on the second floor of the stands.

Everyone stood here, looking out, eagerly waiting.

Standing here, they could see the direction of the school gate, at least 400 meters away, through the lawn and signs.

It was mostly open ground with no cover, a wide view, but also quite a few zombies.

During the day, under the sunlight, the ferocious and terrifying faces of the zombies sent chills down the spine, especially for Abigail and the other female students who were too frightened to look directly.

The male students had a bit more endurance, but if they were to go out, they were always hesitant.

Alice and Amelia, however, were eager to try, tightly gripping their baseball bats.

"We're ready, whenever you give the order to rush out!"

"Not yet."

Sterling turned and asked:

"Abigail, has your dad left?"

Abigail covered her mouth, enduring the feeling of nausea, and said:

"When you went to the second floor, my dad called me and said they had already set off and should be here soon if there are no accidents."

Sterling calculated the time in his mind.

"It should be time for accidents to happen."

This statement made Abigail very dissatisfied.

"What do you mean, Sterling?"

David quickly explained.

"You see, it's only a half-hour drive from the embassy to the school, but it's almost an hour now, and they haven't arrived. What does that tell you?"

Abigail's face turned pale, and the others were also terrified, losing all confidence.

"The people at the embassy have had an accident, and we can't go back, right?"

"No, I don't want to die!"

For a moment, everyone's morale was low, and there was a chorus of complaints.

"What are you crying for!"

Sterling's reprimand silenced everyone.

"Listen, listen carefully!"

Sterling warned, and the others strained to listen, but all they could hear were the many roars of the nearby zombies.

After Sterling's strength increased significantly, his senses were extraordinary, and he could hear the distant streets faintly filled with the sound of gunfire, getting closer and closer.

"They should be here, all follow me out and wait outside!"

Sterling was the first to flip out of the gymnasium and stood on the platform of the second floor.

Alice and Amelia followed closely, then David, and the others took a long time to come out.

Only Abigail poked her head out.

"Sterling, we can't hear anything, this is not the time for jokes!"

Sterling looked into the distance, and on the dusty city streets, he could faintly see a convoy speeding towards them.

David, after seeing clearly, exclaimed:

"Here they come, there's a convoy coming, I see the national flag hanging on the car!"
