Kapitel 12: 12. Demon Eater
Alex and the others have returned to Ur's house after defeating Deliora. They left Brago town, the place where they fought Deliora quickly after defeating the demon.
Ultear is nagging Gray every day for his stupid action because it could kill himself and the others. He tries to argue with his logic, but Ultear can break all his arguments as she is much smarter than him.
Lyon who ridicules Gray also gets nagged by Ultear because she knows he would also do stupid things if he wasn't restrained by Alex and he couldn't even argue back because she is right.
Ur just smiles and laughs seeing her daughter discipline her pupils. Ultear has already said everything they need to hear, so she doesn't need to do anything.
Meanwhile, Alex is still unable to move even after they arrive at Ur's house. Ur has brought him to a doctor and the doctor said he just strained his muscles too much. He will be fine after resting for a few days, so they are very relieved.
Alex was transforming into Shukaku's full body form for too long. He used too much magic power and the fight was also too intense for his underdeveloped body to handle.
Now he knows that he can't just train his magic power but also his physical power. His body is the container of his magic power, after all, so he needs it to be stronger to be able to hold more magic power.
Because he can't move his body, Alex can only stay in the house while everyone else is moving around. But it doesn't mean he has nothing to do because something surprising happened after Deliora died.
Deliora's body and soul were actually being absorbed into Alex's body. To be precise, Shukaku pulls Deliora's soul and body when Alex's transformation was over and Shukaku's sand body covered Deliora after it crumbled.
Shukaku did that because he felt that Deliora's body and soul could be useful for them. Now they finally know why Shukaku was feeling that way.
Deliora's body disintegrate into Ethernano and gets absorbed by a Tailed Beast orb crystal along with its soul. The absorption process is quite slow, but it still increases the orb's magic power faster than usual.
Usually, the crystal orb will absorbs some of the magic power that enters Alex's body. The one absorbing it is actually the Tailed Beast inside the orb. It does that to unseal itself from the orb, but it couldn't absorb too much in normal situation.
"Seems like we will have another companion soon, kid."
"Will it be enough break the seal?"
"I guess so. And there will even be a little left for the next one to absorb."
"Oh, that's great. So who will come first?"
"Who else? It will be that blue cat. We have decided to break the seal following the number of our tails. And I don't want to see that damn fox too soon."
Alex doesn't know what to say to that last sentence, so he just ignores it. He is just excited to see the 2 Tailed Beast, Matatabi soon.
"Wait! If Deliora's magic power and soul can be used to break the seal, then why don't I absorb the remaining power later? I need more power to utilize your power well, right?"
"No! We can't do that. It is fine for us, but if you absorb that demon's power, it will corrupt your mind. I realized it when that demon's body disintegrate into magic power. It is filled with negative emotions that can't be separated from the magic power and the soul at all."
"What?!"
Alex is surprised by that although he can understand that after thinking for a while. Deliora is a demon from the Book of Zeref, created with the purpose of killing Zeref. Also, this demon enjoys destructing everything, so it's obvious that it is filled with negative emotions.
"Then, will it affect Matatabi?"
"No need to worry about that. It may be dangerous for you, but it won't affect us. We can remove any trace of him easily after absorbing his power."
"I see. That's a relief then."
"That's why you need to get stronger quickly so you can use our power well, kid. Also, maybe you can kill more demons like this one for my siblings to absorb, HAHAHA!"
"Why don't you just ask me to kill myself?"
Shukaku is asking something that really can kill Alex. They could kill Deliora because Ur was there and she also didn't need to worry too much about the others while fighting, so she could fight better, unlike in the original plot.
So if Alex fight another Deliora now, he's sure he will die quickly. But he also knows that Shukaku is just joking, so he doesn't take it seriously, or so he thought.
"Well, I'm not really joking, kid. I don't ask you to kill something at this guy's level, but I think you need to kill more magical creatures for us to absorb. It doesn't need to be demons, it can be magical beasts you read in the books that woman gave you. You can train yourself by fighting them and we can use their remains to break my siblings' seals. Don't you think it's a good idea?"
Alex agrees that it certainly is a good idea. If they can absorb any magical creatures, then the options are endless. Also, if he joins a Guild and take subjugation jobs, then he will also get money.
"Alright, let's do that, but not now. I still need to learn a lot of things before we start."
It hasn't been long since Alex escaped from the research facility. He hasn't even finished his reading lesson, so he can't do that yet. Also, he still hasn't recovered from the damage he received when fighting Deliora.
It takes a week for Alex to recover and the first thing he does after being able to move is eating. He couldn't eat properly for a week, so he is very hungry now because he usually eats a lot.
After eating, he does some exercise to warm up his body. But he doesn't move around too much because his body still feels sluggish. So he doesn't train that day and just moves around a little to stretch his muscles.
"How is your body?"
Ur asks while watching over the other 3 kids train in front of the house.
"Still feel a little weak, but everything is fine."
"That's good then. I was worried that you would have unknown injuries inside your body."
"The doctor said I am fine, right? So don't worry. How about you? I mean is there any problem after we killed Deliora? Like Guiltina looking for us or something."
"No, they don't look for us."
"Uwah, talking about being ungrateful."
"Well, I don't think it's because they are being ungrateful. Actually, I heard that they were sending a big army to attack Deliora after we left. But strangely, they couldn't find any trace of him. They only found traces of battles and suspected that Deliora had escaped."
"Huh? How is that possible?"
"I know, right? They should have found his corpse. It was too big to be missed. Well, they could be lying because they want to use the corpse or want to save face for failing to defend some towns and even get beaten by others to kill the demon. But if they aren't lying, I suspected that someone or an organization took Deliora's body before the army arrived."
"What? Who would-"
It was him. Deliora's corpse disappeared because of Alex, or Shukaku in his body to be exact. But no one needs to know that, so he stays silent about it.
"Well, it doesn't matter. What's important is that all of us could return safely."
Alex agrees with that. There's nothing more important than life. Even when he was tortured inhumanely for 2 years, he still didn't give up because he wanted to live.
Maybe he will find something more important than his life in the future. But for now he values his life the most. That's why he wants to enjoy his life to the fullest because he's not sure whether he will have another life again or not.
