Kapitel 14: Return to home

The next day, we packed our belongings and got ready to leave the coastal city. Since we were departing, our first task was to meet with the same merchant group I came with. After paying the fees for both Emily and myself, we were set to go.

After about an hour, we finally departed from the coastal city and entered the forest area. As our group ventured into the forest, everyone's faces turned serious.

The forest in this world is perilous, but fortunately, we did not encounter any formidable beasts during our return journey.

After a four-day trek, we reached Fostal Town, the closest town to my home.

"I appreciate your assistance and hope we meet again," I expressed to the merchant group's leader, a golden core realm cultivator who appeared to be in his thirties.

"You don't need to be so formal; it's just business—you paid, and we assisted you. Now we must be on our way, and I hope you and your companion can meet us again in the future," he replied courteously; he is a merchant, so he is used to talking politely to everyone who has some kind of business with him.

With a friendly and professional demeanor. After exchanging words, I waved goodbye to the merchant group as they started to pack up their goods and prepare for their next destination. The sun was just beginning to set, casting a warm glow over the horizon, and I couldn't help but feel a mix of relief and nostalgia as Fostal Town came into view.

Fostal Town was a quaint little place, renowned for its vibrant markets and friendly locals. The sounds of vendors hawking their wares filled the air, while the delightful aroma of street food wafted toward us, making my stomach rumble in anticipation. We hadn't eaten properly in days, having subsisted on trail rations during our journey through the forest, so the prospect of indulging in a hearty meal was particularly enticing.

Emily, my travel companion and a kindred spirit in this adventure shared in my enthusiasm. "Before we head home, let's find something to eat," she suggested, her eyes sparkling with excitement. I nodded in agreement, and together we made our way toward the bustling heart of the town, navigating through the narrow streets lined with vibrant stalls and glowing lanterns.

After a bit of wandering, we came across a small eatery that was bustling with townspeople enjoying their meals. The place had an inviting atmosphere, with wooden tables filled with hearty dishes of stewed meats and seasonal vegetables. The scent was incredible, and I could feel my mouth watering as we found a spot on a long communal table.

As we settled down, we ordered enough food to make up for our days of hunger. A steaming bowl of rice accompanied by flavorful meats and a fresh salad was quickly placed in front of us. We dug in eagerly, savoring each bite and exchanging stories about our journey so far. The merchant group's help, the danger of the forest, and our bright plans filled the conversation, swirling together like the flavors on our plates.

After our meal, I felt rejuvenated and ready to face whatever awaited us back at home. A sense of anticipation began to build within me as I contemplated the reunion with my mom. Having been away for some time now, I was eager to share tales of my adventures, especially the memorable moments from the coastal city and our journey back through the forest.

With our stomachs full and spirits high, Emily and I decided to take a stroll through Fostal Town. The night had set in, and the town was alive with lanterns casting warm light in every direction. The busy streets were bustling with chatter, laughter, and the lively sounds of music from nearby festivities. I felt a sense of connection to this place, with its rich culture and welcoming ambiance. It's very much like my own town in my previous life.

As we walked, I couldn't shake the feeling that this was merely the beginning of our stories, not just about our journey back but about what lay ahead in the future. The experiences we had gone through were stepping stones leading me to new paths; Coastal City was just one chapter in our ever-evolving adventure. The excitement of what awaited beyond the horizon lingered in the air, filled with endless possibilities. We exchanged glances, both knowing that our journey together was far from over.

After a restful night at the inn, where we shared another passionate evening, we set off for my home the following day. The excitement and anticipation of returning home after our little getaway filled the air. Our journey spanned two full days, with me and my girlfriend, Emily, driving through scenic routes that offered delightful views of landscapes painted in autumn hues.

As we neared home, I noticed that Emily seemed increasingly anxious about meeting my mom. To ease her worries, I tried to reassure her. "Don't worry, Emily. Mom is gentle, and you will like her," I said, attempting to quell the fluttering nerves that danced in her stomach.

Emily took a deep breath and replied, "Mm, I know, but I feel a little nervous. Let's go meet her." We both stepped inside, the familiar scent of home enveloping us.

"Mom, I'm back!" I called out into the house, hoping to elevate the atmosphere of anticipation. I watched as Emily clutched her bag tightly, her apprehension evident but her resolve to meet my mom shining through.

'Why are you so nervous? You have to share the same bed with her during our night activities in the future.' I thought to myself while imagining that scene where both of them were in my arms at the same time, I am very excited by just thinking about it.

'I have to plan these things as soon as possible, and take my mother for myself.'

Into the house as we stepped through the door. The familiarity of the living room enveloped me, with its warm hues and the smell of my mother's famous cinnamon cookies wafting through the air. I could see the glimmer of excitement in Emily's eyes, notwithstanding the bundles of anxiety churning in her stomach.

"Sweetheart! Is that you?" My mom's voice rang through the house, echoing the joy that always accompanied our reunions. Within moments, she appeared in the hallway, her apron dusted with flour and a wide smile gracing her face. But as soon as her gaze landed on Emily, the smile hesitated for a split second before returning to normal.

"Mom, this is Emily," I introduced, feeling the weight of Emily's apprehension beside me.

"Hello, it's so nice to finally meet you!" my mom said, her warmth radiating through her words as she stepped forward to envelop Emily in a gentle hug.

Emily's tension eased just a bit as she responded with a shy, "Hi, Mrs. Grant" I watched my girlfriend's eyes flutter with uncertainty, but my mom's sincerity was disarming.

My mom looked at me, demanding an explanation, and I just nodded, hinting to her that I would explain later, to which she agreed.

"Ok, Emily, you should go to my room upstairs and get fresh; I will explain things to Mom until then," I said to which Emily nodded somewhat nervously.

Once Emily went upstairs, my mom looked at me; she was a little uneasy but still asked, "Ok, Ray, now tell me who that girl is."
