Kapitel 31: Chapter 31: Naruto's Request

Who would have thought things would turn out like this?

Tazuna now felt like he had shot himself in the foot.

Hiring Konoha for a mission wasn't cheap.

As the most powerful ninja village by default, Konoha received an overwhelming number of mission requests daily.

With such high demand, their prices naturally rose.

Among the great ninja villages, Konoha's mission fees were the highest, averaging one-third more than those of the other Five Great Nations.

Yet, despite the steep costs, many still preferred to commission missions through Konoha.

This was because Konoha offered reliability: even if a mission failed, they would send a second, stronger ninja team.

Only after three consecutive failures would they abandon the mission, and the client's payment would be refunded.

In contrast, the other major ninja villages handled things differently.

The Hidden Cloud and Hidden Stone Villages would sometimes refund payment, depending on the circumstances of the failure.

The Hidden Sand Village, however, would never return payment, regardless of whether the mission succeeded or failed.

As for the Hidden Mist Village, which had only recently reopened its borders, it received so few missions that it wasn't worth discussing for now.

"Alright, let's keep moving," Kakashi said, making the decision.

Tazuna sighed helplessly.

Commissioning a mission from Konoha required a significant amount of money. The cost of this B-rank mission alone equaled what the entire population of Wave Country could earn in a month.

The thought made Tazuna wince internally.

And with Kakashi adding interest on top of that, he regretted ever trying to save money by downgrading the mission to a C-rank request.

It was too late to undo his mistake now.

All he could do was keep moving forward and hope the road ahead would be safe.

As these thoughts ran through Tazuna is mind, Naruto suddenly did something as impulsive as in the original story.

He stabbed his hand with a kunai to demonstrate his determination.

Seeing this, Sasuke thought it wasn't half bad.

Naruto had strong willpower, even if it was a bit idiotic.

After all, not everyone had the guts to hurt themselves like Naruto did.

Once Sakura finished bandaging Naruto's hand, the five of them continued on their journey.

At that moment, Naruto unexpectedly made a bold request to Kakashi.

"Kakashi-sensei, can you teach me ninjutsu?"

Hearing this, Kakashi, who had been walking ahead while reading the latest volume of Icha Icha Paradise, paused in surprise.

He turned to look at Naruto.

"Ninjutsu?"

While Kakashi was still puzzled, he noticed the faint trace of envy in Naruto's gaze as he looked at Sasuke.

Although Sasuke was strong, what made him stand out were the unique jutsu he possessed, which Naruto and the others couldn't learn.

This filled Naruto with envy.

Sasuke had easily taken down the unexpected enemies earlier, resolving the crisis with ease.

This stark difference in ability made Naruto keenly aware of the gap between them.

"Ninjutsu, huh," Kakashi murmured.

Normally, for a ninja to learn new jutsu, the primary path is through the village.

By completing missions, they contribute to the village, earning points that can be exchanged for access to jutsu, allowing them to strengthen their abilities.

Outside of this system, a ninja's other option for learning jutsu is to find a personal teacher.

There's no other way.

"Kakashi-sensei, I want to learn ninjutsu too! I don't want to fall too far behind Naruto and Sasuke!"

At this moment, Sakura spoke up, her face turning red as she expressed her desire.

Hearing their words, Kakashi, who hadn't yet made up his mind, quickly understood.

The pressure Sasuke was putting on them was immense.

So much so that both Sakura and Naruto were beginning to panic. If they didn't push themselves harder, they might eventually be left completely in Sasuke's shadow.

In a team, the gap in ability between members couldn't be too great.

Otherwise, it would be difficult for them to truly function as a cohesive unit.

Looking at Naruto and Sakura's expectant gazes, Kakashi sighed.

"Well, since you both want to learn ninjutsu, I'll start by teaching you a simple one."

As he spoke, Kakashi pulled out three peculiar pieces of paper and handed one to each of them Sasuke included.

"First, let's test your chakra nature."

Naruto's test revealed a wind nature chakra no surprise there.

Sakura's turned out to be water nature chakra.

Lastly, Sasuke's test showed fire and lightning nature chakras.

This result was exactly what Sasuke had expected.

"Perfect. And speaking of timing, it's about time for dinner."

"Let's find a place in this forest to camp for the night."

"And while we're at it, I'll teach each of you one jutsu."

Sasuke blinked in surprise. Even he was included?

Noticing Sasuke's startled expression, Kakashi furrowed his brow.

"What's the matter? Surprised? As your teacher, I'm not the type to favor one over the other."

"You're all my students, and I'll treat you all equally."

Kakashi's words were meant to convey goodwill, hoping to strengthen the bond among his team.

Sasuke nodded slightly. "Thank you, Kakashi-sensei."

"You're my student; this is only natural," Kakashi replied with a smile.

Kakashi glanced at Sasuke and Sakura. "You two handle setting up the campsite and keeping watch around the area."

"I'll start by teaching Naruto, then move on to the next one."

Naruto was thrilled. "Kakashi-sensei, what jutsu are you going to teach me?"

Kakashi smiled. "A simple C-rank Wind Style jutsu: Wind Style: Gale Palm!"

In the original story, Naruto and Sakura didn't know much ninjutsu at all.

While setting up the campsite, Sasuke pondered. Given how things were progressing, Naruto and Sakura would likely turn out quite different from the original.

Just how much they would change, Sasuke couldn't say for sure.

Naruto was already learning Wind Style.

When it was Sakura's turn, Kakashi similarly taught her a simple Water Style jutsu: Water Style: Wild Water Wave!

The jutsu they were learning were fundamental ones, ideal for beginners.

However, when it was Sasuke's turn, he naturally didn't want to waste time on basic jutsu.

He had his eye on something more advanced.

A Lightning Style jutsu.

"Kakashi-sensei, please teach me Lightning Style: Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

When Sasuke's turn came, he wasted no time stating his request directly.

Originally, Kakashi had planned to use this opportunity to teach Sasuke the Chidori.

But Sasuke's specific request caught him off guard.

"Lightning Style: Shadow Clone, huh."

This jutsu wasn't particularly powerful on its own but could prove highly effective in critical battles, often producing unexpected results.

It was indeed a great choice.

However

"I have another jutsu that's perfect for you. In fact, it might be something only you can master. Don't you want to give it a look?"
