Kapitel 220: Chapter 220

"What does it mean?"

"Only kind people can go to the new world?"

"Hey! Lord God, what do you mean?"

"Are you going to kill us too?"

All humans looked up at the god with the blue sky as the background, their faces filled with fear.

A Christian priest holding a Bible did not join in the shouting of the people around him but instead calmly recited, "Hallelujah."

"Barbatos... one of the seventy-two demon gods summoned by King Solomon, ranked as a Grand Duke. He was originally a seraph serving God in heaven. Because he was attached to the prosperity of the earth and contaminated by human emotions, he fell to hell and became a fallen angel."

"Ah... I understand, I understand!"

The priest looked at the angelic figure of Barbatos, stretched out his hands, and shouted enthusiastically, his voice overpowering the others.

"The Demon Lord, the Fallen Angel! No, you are Lord Seraph Barbatos!"

"You said only kind people can go to the new world because you intend to cleanse the world like the great flood that destroyed it thousands of years ago, right?"

"Is it that the great Creator, the almighty God, has finally grown weary of humanity's heinous sins?"

The passersby around him seemed to realize something after hearing the priest's shouts.

After all, it had been less than twenty years since the outbreak of the gastroenterovirus, and myths and legends were still well preserved, passed down as part of human civilization.

"The Great Flood? Isn't this about the destruction of the world?"

"What's going on? God!"

Especially in America and Europe, people were able to maintain some semblance of order by diverting their emotions toward the Cursed Children, while also placing their hopes in the gods.

In the face of the apocalypse, people needed more than the assurance of survival—they needed spiritual sustenance.

"Angel Barbatos!"

"Oh, God!"

"Are you here to save the world?"

Anyone who had an understanding of Christianity began to realize something upon hearing the name Barbatos. Now, they were completely terrified after understanding it.

"The Great Flood!"

In the story of Noah's Ark, God saw the extreme wickedness of humanity and decided to use a flood to destroy all life on earth. Only Noah, the savior, and the selected animals were spared and brought to the new world.

Barbatos listened to the cries of the people around the world.

Of course, he had read the Bible. If he were a seraph, then Lord Tianli was indeed God.

After all, God is the Creator, and Lord Tianli was also the Creator.

"[I will begin cleansing the world in two days.]

"[Before that, humans, I will answer your questions equally, but not all questions will be answered. I will only answer questions related to the upcoming Great Purge.]

Cities all over the world fell into chaos as people gathered on the streets, looking up at the seraph described in the Bible, the fallen angel mentioned in Solomon's Lesser Key. Fear, anger, and all manner of ugly emotions appeared on their faces. Some asked why this was happening, while others wailed, claiming their innocence.

No one could ignore the impending Great Purge.

Under the pressure of fear, humans would say and do anything.

In the Tokyo Area, at the Holy Residence, the Holy Emperor rushed to the rooftop in horror, lifting her skirt with both hands. She looked up at the angel above her, folded her hands, and shouted.

"Lord Angel Barbatos, I have a question. Please answer me. I beg of you."

Barbatos looked down at the young girl at his feet.

"[Ruler of the Tokyo Area, Holy Emperor, I will answer three of your questions. You may ask them.]"

At the same time, Barbatos used his divine power to broadcast his conversation with the Holy Emperor to the entire world.

The Holy Emperor clasped her hands together and asked as if she were a saint.

"Lord Angel, you said that only humans with kind hearts can go to the new world. So what is the standard for evaluating kindness?"

Although she was still young, she had been trained as a ruler, and she immediately captured the most crucial point.

Around the world, the crowds that had been noisy with questions and pleas suddenly fell silent. This was also the question they most wanted to ask.

Barbatos said, "I came here by the Creator's order to save the world."

"Yes, just as you think. God is the Creator. He can no longer tolerate the depravity of your civilization, and He is angered by the corruption of human nature."

"Therefore, when I was ordered to save the world, the standard was set."

"And this standard is defined according to the Cursed Children."

All over the world, the Cursed Children blinked at the words of the angel.

The Cursed Children trained as "Initiators" looked blankly at the angel speaking to the ruler of the Tokyo Area.

The Holy Emperor's eyes widened slightly. She seemed to understand something, but couldn't fully grasp it. She could only continue to listen to the angel.

"God's will divides humanity into the kind, the neutral, and the chaotic."

"Humans who help and treat the Cursed Children kindly are considered kind."

"Those who neither help nor harm the Cursed Children are considered neutral."

"Humans who have harmed the Cursed Children are classified as chaotic."

"Only kind and neutral humans will be spared from the purge along with the Gastrea."

Barbatos continued.

"The Creator despises the darkness and corruption of humankind."

"Had the Creator seen humanity standing together in times of disaster, showing the best of what humans can be, everything would have been saved, and blessings would have been bestowed."

"But sadly, the Creator did not see that. Instead, what He saw was a group of filthy souls killing those who were pure."

"Children are humanity's future. Their hearts are pure."

"Yet humans depend on the strength of children to fight disaster, all while continuing their civilization without guilt. Worse, they unleash their pain on the very children protecting them."

"This has determined the Creator's decision to destroy the world and allow humanity to start anew."

As Barbatos spoke, he thought of Phanes, who had destroyed human city-states again and again due to humanity's corruption. Lord Takumi was the same, but gentler. Yet this gentleness, when disappointed, could turn into an even greater wrath.

Humanity all over the world froze. No matter how they thought about it, they could never have imagined the reason behind this divine wrath.

The Holy Emperor looked at the angel above her, her entire body cold. She muttered to herself.

"So that's it... that's why..."

After the initial shock, even stronger emotions erupted from humanity.

Fear, anger, regret, and hope all filled the air, as humanity faced the coming judgment.
