"OK, let's get back to what we were talking about—Fiona!"
Jimmy seemed particularly invested in the conversation.
"Hey, why are you so eager to talk about me becoming famous?" Fiona teased, slipping her arm around Jimmy's shoulders as she sat beside him.
"Fiona, I just want to shut my traditional parents up once and for all," Jimmy said, looking at her with tender affection.
The two started kissing again, shamelessly showing off their affection and feeding everyone a fresh dose of PDA.
Lip nearly burst out laughing. The thought of Jimmy's father—who would be introduced later in the original plot—made him think the word "traditional" had no place in that family.
After a minute, the two finally separated.
"Lip, I'm really curious about your thoughts on human desires. Can you go into more detail?" Jimmy asked with a smile.
"Alright, let me explain."
"There's a common saying online these days: It starts with appearance, respects talent, fits with personality, and ends with character. But in my opinion, that's just sugarcoating people's desires."
"To put it bluntly, it's all about the urge to conquer, possess, and control the opposite sex."
"After all, humans are just animals at their core."
"Lip!" Fiona exclaimed, slightly shocked. "That's so blunt!"
"Reality is blunt," Lip replied, smirking. "Desires reveal the weaknesses in human nature, and where there are weaknesses, there are opportunities to exploit them."
"What's the easiest kind of money to make?" Lip asked, looking around at his family. "Men spend on lust, women on beauty; children need money to grow, while the elderly seek well-being. The poor want to get rich, and the rich fear death."
"Which one of these isn't driven by human weakness?"
Lip paused for a moment, letting his words sink in.
"Honestly, sometimes I feel lucky to have grown up in a chaotic and shameless family like the Gallaghers. It made me see the darker side of human nature early on and understand the harsh truths of society."
He took a drag from his cigarette and let out a slow breath.
"From the moment Frank checked out of our lives, I knew I'd have to step up and become just as shameless."
"Even though I might seem like I have potential now, deep down, I'm still just another piece of scum in this world."
"If I cling to fairness, kindness, and the rules, I'll just end up being another pawn for the elites who run this game."
"The rules and systems people preach about? They're just tools to brainwash, trap, and confuse the majority."
Everyone stared at Lip, stunned by his candid and biting words.
"In the future, I'll be worse than the bad guys, meaner than the con artists, and more ruthless than the gangsters—because I'll do whatever it takes to protect my family."
Fiona's eyes welled up with tears. "Lip…"
"Let me finish," Lip interrupted gently, exhaling another puff of smoke. "So, listen to me carefully. Treasure this time we have now. Be brave enough to be yourselves, and don't let people like Frank and Monica drag you back into the abyss."
"If anyone dares to bring this family down after all the progress we've made, I swear I'll deal with them myself—no matter who they are."
His tone was calm, but the intensity in his eyes made everyone feel his determination. In that moment, Lip no longer seemed like the carefree boy they once knew. He looked like a warrior, ready to take on the world for his family.
Lip had already realized something important: for a family to thrive, there has to be someone willing to play the villain, to make the hard choices.
And he had chosen to be that person.
"Fiona," Lip said, his voice softening, "try to rest these next few days. No staying up late, no heavy drinking. I want you to be at your best—your most radiant—this weekend."
"Why?" Fiona asked, already tearing up.
"Because you deserve a better life," Lip said matter-of-factly.
"Lip!" Fiona burst into tears, overcome with emotion. She understood that everything he said and did was for her.
"Alright, no hugs!" Lip said suddenly, holding his hands up in protest.
Fiona froze mid-step, looking confused.
"I just managed to deliver this whole speech without breaking down. If you hug me now, I'll probably lose it and start crying!"
"Haha!" Fiona laughed, her tears turning to giggles as she playfully swatted him. "You brat!"
Just then, the door creaked open.
"Hey, everyone, meet my daughter!" Kevin announced proudly as he walked in.
"Adopted daughter," Veronica added coldly, following close behind. Her tone suggested she wasn't exactly thrilled.
"Why do you have to say it like that?" Kevin asked, looking at her with frustration.
Veronica didn't respond. She simply sat next to Fiona, crossing her arms.
That's when the Gallagher family got a clear look at the girl standing next to Kevin. She seemed to be around thirteen or fourteen years old.
The little girl…
