Lying in bed, Soyo slowly opened her eyes.

So thirsty…

Sitting up, she was about to get out of bed when she noticed a glass of water on the nightstand beside her. Without a second thought, she reached for it.

It was still warm.

Draining the glass in one go, she finally felt her throat relax and her head clear a bit.

She remembered how Saku had been telling her a story until she'd drifted off. The entire morning came rushing back—his gentle patience, the way he'd taken care of her.

A fresh blush crept over her cheeks as she hugged her blanket tightly to herself. The memory of Saku carrying her princess-style to bed, feeding her spoonfuls of soup, and even soothing her with a story made her heart race.

He's impossible!

She was the older one, his "big sister," so why was he acting like such an adult?

Her eyes drifted to the dim room around her as she reached for her phone on the pillow beside her. It was already 7:45 p.m.

"Did I really sleep that long?"

Murmuring to herself, she noticed a message from Saku.

Saku: If you need anything, just text me. I'll come right over.

The message had been sent half an hour ago, which likely meant he'd left her place.

Makes sense… It would've been weird if he'd stayed here all day.

Saku had already done so much for her that morning—she was touched by his kindness. Replying quickly with a simple "Got it," she placed the phone back on her nightstand and touched her forehead. No fever.

Good—she felt her strength had mostly returned.

Oh, right. Today was her birthday.

It was still important, even if she'd mostly planned to keep it quiet. She was hoping to spend it with Saku, so there was no way she'd miss out on that. Glancing at the clock, she quickly got out of bed.

It was nearly eight o'clock. If she started preparing dinner now, they could eat by ten.

Since it's my birthday, I should make it a bit special, she thought, remembering the ingredients she'd stocked up on earlier.

Changing into her usual casual clothes, Soyo opened her door. As soon as she stepped into the hall, a delicious aroma filled the air.

Wait…what's going on?

Seeing the lights on downstairs, Soyo grew even more puzzled. Could Saku… still be here?

Curious, she hurried down the stairs.

Then she saw it—a large cake sitting in the center of the dining table, surrounded by several dishes, and in the kitchen, Saku was putting the finishing touches on another plate.

Hearing her footsteps, he stepped out and smiled, greeting her cheerfully.

"Good evening! You're up! How are you feeling? Better?"

"What… what's going on here?"

Her mind spun with questions, completely ignoring his initial question. She needed an explanation for all of this. What was with the cake? The food?

"What do you mean, what's going on?" Saku replied as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "Today's your birthday, right?"

Soyo stared at him, her expression complex. "I know it's my birthday. But… how did you know?"

She was certain she'd never told him. In fact, she'd purposely avoided mentioning it to keep him from making a fuss.

"You told me," Saku said helpfully, "when we went out for dinner a while back."

At his words, she vaguely remembered the conversation.

"You… actually remembered that?"

She herself had nearly forgotten saying it, but somehow, he had kept it in mind.

"Barely," he admitted with a sheepish smile. "I almost forgot until this morning."

If it weren't for that gift box in her room, he really might not have remembered.

"But you did remember," she replied quietly, glancing over at the cake and dishes—proof of his effort.

Remembering was remembering. Almost didn't matter.

Wait… a birthday cake?

Soyo suddenly caught something odd.

"Yes, I remembered," Saku said with a nod.

But something about the cake was… unusual.

"Where did this cake come from?" she asked, walking over to the table and pointing at the extravagant dessert in the center.

"Oh, that?" Saku replied with casual nonchalance. "It's just a regular birthday cake."

"No, I mean," she cut in, "how did you get this cake?"

That was the real question.

She hadn't ordered one herself, so he must have gone out to buy it.

Under normal circumstances, it wouldn't be an issue. But there was a typhoon today.

It hadn't registered at first, but the more she thought about it, the more suspicious the cake's appearance seemed.

"I called in a favor and had it delivered. You know, I work as a social media influencer, so I have contacts at a few dessert shops."

Saku offered this explanation easily.

Anything else would probably have made it seem like he'd braved the storm just to buy her a cake, which, while true, wasn't the kind of impression he wanted to leave. Thanks to his teleportation ability, it hadn't been dangerous at all—but she didn't know that.

"Would they really deliver a cake in this weather?" Soyo asked, unconvinced.

She wasn't a child. She wasn't going to believe such an obvious cover.

"Okay, fine, I went out to buy it," Saku admitted with a sigh. Dodging her questions was clearly pointless.

"Why?" Her voice softened, bewildered. "Why would you do that? It was a typhoon!"

It didn't make sense to her. Going out in a storm to buy a birthday cake—was that really necessary? She could hardly understand why he would go to such lengths.

"Because it's your birthday," he replied simply.
