It's a spectacle, a spectacle where one wrong move could cost someone their life.
The sounds of explosions, metal clashing, and bullets raining down echoed throughout the area.
Awer stared at his opponent with a menacing smile plastered across his face. Holding an advanced rifle in his right hand, he fired a series of shots that shattered his opponent's already cracked shield completely.
"You're going to die!" he shouted, bending his knees. The legs of his Exoskeleton hissed deeply as compressed air was released. In a single leap, he closed the distance, appearing right in front of the enemy leader in an instant!
The leader's face twisted in shock before he gritted his teeth and retaliated with a slash from his mechanical longsword.
"That's useless!" Awer cackled maniacally, swinging his axe with ferocious strength. The electrified weapon tore through the air, and when it collided with the longsword, a deafening impact reverberated through the battlefield, accompanied by the sound of cracking metal.
Though the opponent's sword managed to block the blow, fractures snaked across its blade.
"Oh?" Awer raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "That's a good weapon. But unfortunately, it's no match for my axe."
"You talk too much for your size," the leader spat through gritted teeth, straining against the overwhelming force of Awer's attack.
"You're right. I shouldn't waste my breath on a dead man," Awer said coldly, driving his axe downward with greater force. The opponent's sword shattered under the pressure, its broken pieces clattering to the ground.
Awer raised his axe high, ready to cleave the leader in two. But just as he prepared to deliver the final blow, a hole suddenly appeared in the side of the man's head. The leader's face froze in the same expression of shock as blood spurted from the wound. Smoke curled from the edges of the clean, precise shot.
"Who the f*ck shot him?! I was about to kill him!" Awer roared, his frustration palpable. His prey dropped to the ground, lifeless, the precision of the wound unmistakable. There was only one person in the group capable of such a shot.
He scanned the battlefield for his teammate Brad, the sniper, but couldn't spot him. Awer figured Brad was likely hiding behind cover, as snipers often did to remain effective.
"Brad, you shouldn't have taken my kill! It was mine!" Awer barked through the intercom, but the sniper remained silent. A frown crept onto his face.
Clenching his jaw, Awer decided to confront Brad later about his disrespect. For now, he turned his attention to the remaining enemies, who had engaged his team in close combat. Licking his lips, he charged forward, shoving aside one of his teammates who crashed to the ground. He quickly locked eyes with another enemy, who froze in shock at his sudden appearance.
As Awer prepared to decapitate the stunned foe with his axe, another bullet whizzed through the air, piercing the enemy's skull and killing him instantly. The chaotic sounds of battle drowned out the sniper rifle's report, leaving Awer no warning.
"Brad! Why the hell do you keep stealing my kills?!" Awer bellowed, his fury mounting.
But the sniper still gave no response. Awer's frustration boiled over. "F*ck! If you steal another one of my kills, you'll regret it!"
With a guttural shout, Awer lunged at another enemy. His teammate, sensing the leader's fury, smartly stepped aside, giving him room to vent his frustration.
"Hey, Brad, don't piss off the boss!" Awer's teammates began calling out to their sniper, but Brad remained eerily silent.
This unexpected silence unsettled the team, but the three remaining enemies attacked relentlessly, leaving them no time to figure out what was happening.
Awer appeared in front of another Exoskeleton wearer, his face flushed with anger. Without wasting a second, he raised his axe and slashed the enemy in half. This time, no one interrupted his kill. His weapon cleaved through the body effortlessly, flesh and mechanical parts crashing to the ground as blood pooled beneath them.
Seeing his successful kill, the rage inside him subsided slightly, though not entirely. Awer was far from satisfied. With a roar, he resumed his rampage against the remaining enemies, his teammates stepping back to give their leader space to "enjoy himself."
They even laughed as they watched their opponents fall one by one.
"Awer really hates it when someone ruins his fun."
"Yeah. Brad's definitely gonna get it later."
"But why the hell hasn't Brad said anything?"
Their laughter faltered as suspicion crept in. The two teammates exchanged uneasy glances and began scanning their surroundings. No matter where they looked, they couldn't find their long-haired sniper.
"Why don't we go check on him, Luke?" one of them suggested, a foreboding feeling creeping into his chest.
"Yeah, we should. This doesn't feel right."
"I don't like this… Something bad might have happ—" But he never got to finish his sentence. His expression froze mid-word as if time had stopped. Blood spurted from his forehead, a neat hole puncturing his skull.
His body collapsed to the ground with a dull thud, though the sound was lost in the chaos of battle surrounding their leader.
The last of Awer's teammates noticed his fallen companion and widened his eyes in horror. Activating his Exoskeleton's speed enhancement, he quickly moved into a defensive stance. A light blue shield materialized in front of him as he raised his rifle, scanning the battlefield through its scope. His breath slowed as he swept the weapon's barrel across the area, searching for the unseen assailant.
Then it dawned on him: the reason Brad wasn't responding wasn't defiance. Brad was already dead.
"A-Awer! We need to—"
"Shut up! Hahaha! Don't bother me!" Awer bellowed, his laughter booming. His axe slashed through the air while his rifle spat bullets at the remaining opponents. Forced onto the defensive, his enemies scrambled to block his relentless assault.
The moment they did, Awer activated his Speed Module System. In a blink, he appeared in front of one of them.
"Die!"
His axe carved through the opponent's neck with brutal precision, sending the man's head flying through the air.
Sh*t! He's not going to listen to me! Awer's remaining teammate cursed internally. Left with no other option, he darted for cover, his eyes constantly scanning for the hidden sniper.
Propping his rifle atop a nearby mound, he peered through its scope, painstakingly observing the battlefield. Still, even as Awer closed in to kill their last opponent, the sniper remained elusive.
"Hey, what are you looking at?"
"Someone's out there killing us! Brad and Luke are dead. I think this person is a skilled sni—" Awer's remaining teammate froze mid-sentence, his words catching in his throat as a chilling realization struck him.
That voice.
Goosebumps crawled up his skin, and his hair stood on end. Slowly, almost mechanically, he turned around.
"You?"
"Me?" Kael echoed, a Pulse Sniper Rifle resting casually in his hands, a cunning smile playing on his lips.
Awer's teammate didn't bother with more words. Instinctively, he raised his weapon and pulled the trigger. But before he could fire, Kael's rifle let off a sharp discharge.
Bang!
The shot struck the teammate's rifle, causing it to explode in his hands. Shards of the weapon tore through his Mechanical Suit, embedding themselves in his body. He cried out as he collapsed onto the upturned ground, blood spilling from his mouth.
"Too slow," Kael muttered, his tone devoid of sympathy.
"You… why?" Awer's teammate managed to choke out, pain wracking his body.
"Well, you guys bumped into me. That's why," Kael replied, raising his sniper and leveling its barrel at the man's head.
"That's… it?" Awer's teammate's voice wavered with disbelief.
"Yup," Kael nodded, his expression calm. "And you're going to die because of that small mistake."
"But… I wasn't… the one… who bumped… into you!" It was a desperate plea, his last hope.
"It doesn't matter," Kael said with a nonchalant shrug. "What matters is my revenge. And the Growth Orb, of course."
Hearing this, Awer's teammate finally understood. "S-spare me."
"Nope," Kael said coldly, shaking his head. His attention flicked briefly to Awer's ongoing fight, noting that it was nearing its conclusion. Without hesitation or emotion, Kael pulled the trigger.
The sharp crack of his gunfire mingled with the sound of the ground splintering under the force of Awer's mighty axe. Blood spilled on the battlefield, staining the earth red, both from Kael's kill and Awer's rampage.
