Across the aisle, Edoardo's eyes narrowed as he spotted his ex-wife, Adriana, laughing with none other than Leonora's ex-boyfriend, Rafael. The sight of them together made his chest tighten, but he kept his expression neutral, hiding the frustration simmering beneath the surface.
Leonora, noticing where his gaze had landed, followed it. Her eyes hardened for a brief moment before she quickly looked away, her face settling into an impassive mask.
"Your ex-wife and my ex-boyfriend," she muttered, her voice tinged with bitterness. "What a shitty combination, don't you think?"
Edoardo exhaled sharply, a humorless laugh escaping him. "Perfect, right? Just what we needed today."
Leonora clenched her jaw, the strap of her purse digging into her fingers. "I didn't think I'd ever see them together."
"You and me both," Edoardo replied, a touch of frustration in his voice. "But at least they seem happy, right?"
