Kapitel 25: Chapter 25 : A Massacre

"I don't remember my brother taking anything from you," Emma said coldly and her guard rising

Although she was sure she couldn't match him after sensing his killing intent, she wasn't willing to accept defeat without a fight.

"Oh, don't get me wrong. What I want belongs to him, but it'll be mine soon enough," Daniel smiled. He had initially planned to extract Liam's blood essence first, but perhaps it wouldn't hurt to start with Emma.

However, after some consideration, he abandoned the idea. This girl possessed the Divine Blessing of the Shadow God, and her innate talent was undoubtedly related to shadows.

'I kind of regret never re-reading the novel,' Daniel thought, as he had forgotten many details about the twins.

Nevertheless, he remembered that Emma excelled at escaping and hiding. Before being killed by that bastard, she had even taken control of the Moon Organization—a family-run assassination guild under the Vorhelms.

Daniel wasn't sure that even with his current strength, he could prevent her from escaping. A Divine Blessing was no joke; it granted immense power.

"Are you insane?" Emma looked at him with the same disgust one might reserve for a crazed bastard. And from her perspective, Daniel truly was a madman.

Daniel took a step closer until he was directly in front of her. Although she flinched slightly, she didn't back down and met his gaze with icy eyes.

"Don't worry. I'm not planning to kill you or your dear brother. You two still have to keep that bastard busy for a while," Daniel said, his lips just inches from hers.

Both of them could feel the other's breath.

Emma didn't even blink. She didn't want to show any signs of fear in front of Daniel.

Boom!

"Hm?" Both of them turned their heads to the right, drawn by the sound. Smoke and fire were rising from several kilometers away in the forest.

For a moment, they exchanged glances before Emma disappeared from her spot.

"So that's how she uses it," Daniel chuckled slightly. This girl could merge into the shadows of objects or beings within her range of control.

With her current level of power, her effective range was likely just a few meters. However, by continuously transferring through shadows within her range, she could cover significant distances.

"The fact that she can use such an ability at her age… she's truly talented," Daniel said before summoning Vorak.

"Had a good rest, little boy?" Daniel stroked his fur lightly.

"Do you see anything?"

Although he was now awakened, Daniel's rank was still low. Even if his raw power matched that of a typical Rank B awakened, his sensory abilities didn't extend for miles.

But Vorak was different.

"My lord, the charred corpses of humans are burning in the fire."

Daniel frowned deeply. Charred human corpses? Was this the work of a monster, or were these people simply part of this trial's fabricated world?

"Take me there."

Daniel mounted Vorak, and without hesitation, the beast began to run. Within seconds, they reached the top of a hill.

Even though Vorak's power had been restricted, his speed still matched that of a Rank B awakened individual.

"This is a massacre," Daniel muttered, his frown deepening.

"So this is your talent?" Emma appeared beside him suddenly. Before looking at the scene, her eyes briefly fixed on Vorak.

She hadn't expected Daniel to be a Beast Tamer. However, why did this beast look so much like a One-Eyed Winter?

As a descendant of the main bloodline, Emma naturally had extensive knowledge about corruption beasts and could easily identify a One-Eyed Winter.

But how was this possible? Taming a corruption beast was supposed to be absolutely impossible. Such a thing was unheard of.

'Maybe the resemblance of this beast to a corruption creature is linked to his talent,' Emma thought, considering the possibility. With that in mind, she turned her attention to the massacre below and frowned heavily.

"Such carnage… Could a corruption beast have attacked here?" Emma asked, barely suppressing her nausea.

Even though she had been trained mentally from a young age to handle such sights, seeing it up close was truly horrifying.

Daniel ignored her and leaped down the hill, heading toward the corpses.

Dozens of dismembered bodies lay scattered, their severed limbs burning individually in the flames.

Blood stained the ground, painting it grotesquely. The nauseating stench of decay permeated the air.

"Vorak, can you sense the presence of a corruption beast?"

Vorak didn't respond immediately. Instead, he sniffed around the area thoroughly.

"No, my lord. No creatures other than humans have been here."

'What happened to them?' Daniel couldn't come up with any plausible explanation. His mind was drawing blanks.

'It can even talk?' Emma was startled upon hearing Vorak's voice. Only beasts or creatures ranked C or higher could communicate verbally.

She hadn't expected Daniel to be so talented or terrifying. All those rumors about him being talentless were complete nonsense.

"Hm?" Suddenly noticing something, she approached one of the corpses to inspect it.

"These are all descendants of the Vorhelm family," Emma said. Despite the charred condition of most of their faces, she managed to identify a few.

"All of them?"

"I can't say for sure, but at least these two, yes. And if you look at their bodies, you'll notice most of them are young," Emma explained.

"What or who could do this to them?" Daniel muttered under his breath, then moved to examine the two bodies whose faces were still recognizable.

He could faintly sense a weak spiritual sea emanating from them.

"They had undergone awakening, but their spiritual seas are incomplete. They were likely killed during their spiritual sea's formation."

"But how? How could all of them be in one place during awakening?" Emma asked, finding Daniel's words illogical.

"Vorak, inspect their bodies," Daniel commanded, as he too struggled to comprehend the situation.

Vorak moved toward the two corpses, sniffing and examining them closely.

"Their bodies are not normal. A powerful poison is present in their blood."
