Kapitel 43: Chapter 42: The Feeling Of Not Being Unique

The two hugged for a moment, Momo ending up doing it to try and calm her heart, which was exuding a bad feeling.

"I just wanted to be the only one in your life, Yuki." Momo reflected in a sad tone in her mind, which remained in total darkness.

Six hours had passed, and it was already a cold night. The scene showed Light relaxed on his own bed with his forearm resting on his forehead, watching the ceiling that showed the Moonlight being exposed.

A little insomnia had kept Light awake and he wouldn't be able to sleep for a moment, and as he turned over in bed to seek comfort... suddenly his cell phone, which was sitting on his small desk, rang.

"This late?" Light muttered, seeing that his cell phone had the light on, and he decided to pick it up and see who was notifying him at that time.

[Momo: Light, can you talk now?]

The sudden message was from Momo Belia, and Light thought looking at it... as if she needed important help.

Naturally, it's so quiet and calm at night that it's easy for the negative energies you already have... to mix more easily, creating immense chaos that causes anxiety, insecurity and distrust in those who no longer have a healthy daily life.

Also at these times, Light sometimes remembers what his past life was like, and being struck by lightning was something he wasn't even expecting to bring him such strong benefits.

The sensation of power and killing gradually grows stronger in his soul with each passing day, and this greatly enlivens his cold and bloodthirsty side... however, it's always good to mediate in order to avoid more attention than he already has.

"What will the end of this journey be like?" Light reflected watching the starry sky through his bedroom window, feeling curious about how it would all end.

His eyes closed and he unlocked his phone with his index fingerprint and entered his voicemail to talk to Momo.

[Light: I'm here.]

The scene returned to Momo, who was cuddled up against her pillow, trying to stay calm and waiting for Light's reply... and so her cell phone rang and she quickly picked it up to see what notification would appear.

To her relief, Light was awake, and was willing to talk to her... this made Momo's chest heave with relief, and she began to talk to him about what she was feeling at the moment.

[Momo: I don't know how to deal with this, but during this time... I've realized that I hate feeling inferior romantically, Yuki has always ended up being more romantic with another girl... and even if I tease him sexually, he doesn't even touch me and that discourages me, always giving signals and getting nothing back].

Momo ended up detailing a lot of her feelings to Light at that moment... he was the only person she could rely on to express her bad feelings, since Nana was neutral about the situation and told Yuki about her ties with Light, while the rest would always be more focused on other things and also on Yuki's development for the Harem.

Light read that message with his arm resting on his forehead, thinking about what he could write to her.

Light stared at the screen of his cell phone, analyzing every word of Momo's message. He understood the anguish she was feeling. Not that he shared the same feelings or insecurities, but he knew what it was like to feel alone amidst the chaos of conflicting thoughts.

He sighed, slowly getting out of bed and walking over to the window. The soft moonlight illuminated part of his room, casting shadows on the furniture. The starry sky seemed a cruel contrast to the emotional turmoil described by Momo.

Finally, he began to type, his words carefully chosen, as always.

[Light: Feeling inferior is something everyone faces at some point, Momo. No matter how hard we try to be strong, there are times when comparison or rejection gets to us. But tell me something: do you think you deserve less than what you're asking of Yuki? He may have other visions].

He hesitated before sending. The words were simple, but they carried weight. Light knew he had to make Momo understand all this.

On the other side, Momo read the message, and her eyes filled with tears that she tried to hold back. That little question pierced her heart completely. Realizing how much she had been ignored by Yuki.

She answered after a few minutes, trying to keep her hands steady:

[Momo: No... I don't think I deserve it. I do so much, I try so hard... but it never seems to be enough for him. It hurts, you know? It's like he doesn't see who I really am].

Light read the words and closed her eyes for a moment. He understood her pain, albeit from a different perspective. The feeling of invisibility and the like has always been painful for anyone.

[Light: Sometimes, Momo, the people we want to reach can't see us because they're blinded by their own desires. That's not your fault, but their fault. The rest you already know.]

Momo felt a slight wave of relief reading the reply. It not only validated her feelings, but also brought a perspective she hadn't considered.

[Momo: I wanted to believe that, but... it's hard. I feel like I'm running after something I'll never achieve. Maybe it's time to stop, but it scares me."]

Light turned his head in his tray, feeling the gravity of that confession. He knew what it was like to be trapped in a cycle that seemed inescapable, but his approach had always been controlled, almost clinical.

[Light: Try to talk to him about it more calmly, I think it'll come to something... if not, fate will sort it out for better or worse].

Momo stared at the message for several long minutes. Light's words were direct, implying that the only way to resolve the situation was through a dialog that could lead to a resolution.

[Momo: Thank you for listening, Light. I really do. You're the only person who understands me now."]

Light read the message and closed his cell phone, looking up at the starry sky again.

"This guy is such an idiot," he thought. "It would be nice if I sorted this out the hard way..."

Light felt a small smile appear on his lips. He saw himself both as a guide and as the soon-to-be killer in this case.

As the night wore on, he stood there, lost in thought. The sky was still so calm and vast, but inside Light, the stars seemed to shine slightly differently.

His expression held a strong desire to commit bad deeds, and nothing would stop him from doing so in order to achieve his system results.

With all this in hand, he closed his eyes and went to sleep.
