Kapitel 41: Chapter 40: Awaken Your True Will

"Wait... from the name mentioned, do you think it will work out?" Momo asks with some trepidation.

Light nods in silent agreement and he calls her over to have a coffee together.

Inside the café, it was a very simple but sophisticated space... with small plants of different species hanging from the ceiling to give a clean air with oxygen favorable to those who consume their food and breathe in the healthy morning breeze.

In Momo's mind, it appeared to be some kind of meeting... but deep down, this is just a quiet place to deal with trivial matters where she will have to confront those who are trying to harm her.

"You can sit here, it's good to be near the barman to order things." Light, in a gentle tone, advises her to sit next to him so that she can order the drink she wants without taking too long.

Momo gently sits down in the chair where Light advised, and she starts looking at the menu to see what she can drink that morning before going to Kuoh.

"Can I have this vanilla milkshake?" Momo asks politely to the man who works delivering the drinks at the front table.

He nods and starts preparing her milkshake, while Light naturally just asks for a latte to keep her mind calm under any circumstances... and after a few minutes of waiting, they both receive their drinks.

"I warn you in advance that I work with details, I don't want you to believe faithfully that I'm going to carry out this plan cunningly." Momo warns Light carefully that she needs to know more than just a few words to carry out his plan.

"Even though you're my colleague, do you still want to demand more?" Light asks, watching her eyes, waiting for a convincing answer.

Momo suddenly stops sipping her milkshake and leaves the glass resting on the table so she can answer calmly.

"Yes, you don't know me well enough to believe in my success."

Light remains silent for a moment, he reflects a little as he fixes his uniform tie.

"Don't be divergent, a victory has never been based on confidence alone... there are always several ways to achieve success without needing personal knowledge." Light explains in detail how to convince her not to feel negative because of her lack of knowledge about him.

Momo thought about his argument for a moment, although this part was valid... she still felt a little insecure about being the person who would make the plan a complete success.

Momo slid her fingers across the cold glass of milkshake, pensive. Light's words echoed in her mind, but there was something about the way he spoke that made her uneasy. He seemed so sure of himself... while Momo was struggling with whether or not to accept this battle.

"I understand your logic..." she began, her tone calm but charged with restrained emotion. "But the main point is that there are simply certain issues that make me believe I won't do well."

Light watched her carefully. He rested his coffee cup on the saucer, crossing his fingers on the table. "Are you telling me you're afraid to admit any truth to him?"

"It's not that..." she answered quickly, shaking her head and trying to lie to him "What I mean is that... well, he's not a bad person, he's just been very strange lately and I can't help him."

Light was silent for a moment, analyzing her every word. He knew that, on some level, she was right. But he also knew that revealing everything to her could be risky.

"You're worried about what you can't control." he said, his voice firm but not cold. "I understand. But Momo, the success of this plan doesn't just depend on you, or me. It depends on how we deal with the variables that come up along the way... but if you don't want to go through with it, that's fine."

Light's words carried weight, but they weren't exactly what Momo wanted to hear. Still, she took a deep breath, trying to find some calm in the midst of this plan that seemed to be over for good.

"I'm not asking you to trust me blindly," she said, with a softer tone. "I just want to know that if things get out of hand, you'll have a plan for all of us, not just for yourself."

Light stared into her eyes for a moment, seeing something he rarely found in anyone: genuine determination mixed with vulnerability. He looked away for a moment, straightening his tie again, before replying.

"I always have a plan," he finally said, with a slight smile at the corner of his lips. "I just need you to be able to both self-discover about this personal issue with him... and about your future as this pillar that you had told me about after hours of talking on the phone."

Momo studied his face, looking for some flaw in the mask of confidence he displayed. But to her frustration - or perhaps relief - she found none.

"Okay." she said, picking up her milkshake again. "I believe Yuki will be able to understand me about that, I hope."

"I hope so too... I just want you to try to understand more about this hatred of his and the intimate relationships he's been sinning a lot lately." he replied as he finished his cup of coffee.

Momo smiled slightly, but deep down she still felt a heaviness in her chest. Even with Light's reassuring words, she knew that talking to Yuki Rito could still be a challenge since he was in a very dark phase where he was seeking revenge and strength for various personal reasons.

Light was still trying to understand why he felt that hatred, he knows that his action of doing all that was wrong... and even though Yuki lost his points according to the predestined villain system, for a disgusting attitude, it's no justification to take revenge for something he knows he did wrong and is paying for.

"Thank you for accepting my invitation Momo, I'm glad you were able to develop this little bond with me after a long time of talking." Light is grateful for Momo's company, and quickly pays for her coffee and milkshake so they can go straight to Kuoh College.

"Thanks Light, you're very nice to me... that's the least of it." Momo reciprocates and gets up from her chair with a little cheer, showing that she reciprocates what she feels about their little friendship.
