Kapitel 84: Entering the World

There was a light rain falling on the mountain. It wouldn't be entirely accurate to describe it as a gentle patter, but it wasn't too far off either.

Yun Miao stood at the door, not stepping over the threshold. With his arms crossed, he just watched the rain lines that were like strings of pearls.

  It was almost noon.

Xia Chan, with her small and short stature, walked over unsteadily. She was holding an umbrella that was bigger than herself, struggling to carry the food in her arms. Stepping through the muddy rainwater, her trouser legs were completely soaked.

Yun Miao wanted to step over the threshold to help her, but due to the Body-Restraint and Soul-Eating Curse, he couldn't step out of the threshold. He could only watch as the little girl walked over with difficulty.

"Brother, it's time to eat." Xia Chan was having a hard time holding up the big umbrella while also making sure the food in her arms didn't fall. She looked a bit comical all over.

"Okay, okay, okay." Yun Miao quickly took the food and put it on the table. Looking at Xia Chan's soaked clothes, his expression showed distress. He quickly lit the stove and asked Xia Chan to come over and warm herself by it.

"Did you pay respects to the Great Celestial Venerable today?" Yun Miao tied up Xia Chan's wet hair.

"Yes, and the Great Celestial Venerable seemed to smile at me again today." Xia Chan replied in a clear and crisp voice, her shiny eyes full of innocence.

Yun Miao smiled. He wasn't too surprised. Little Chan'er had also said that the Great Celestial Venerable smiled at her two years ago. Yun Miao hadn't paid much attention back then and just thought that little Chan'er had been mistaken. Now he smiled and said.

"That means the Great Celestial Venerable likes little Chan'er. Little Chan'er should go and pay respects more often."

"Really?" The little girl's shiny eyes were full of light, and she looked energetic.

"Of course." Yun Miao replied affirmatively.

When the rain stopped and Xia Chan's clothes were dry, she picked up the umbrella and the food containers and wobbled back.

Yun Miao closed the door, stopped looking outside, and sat blankly in the dim back room.

He couldn't recite the Heart-Calming Mantra anymore and often stared blankly at his master's coffin.

Yun Miao knew that this was their intention, deliberately putting his master's coffin here with him.

If Yun Miao wasn't mistaken, there should be another coffin for him, which would be a bit bigger than his master's. It would be just right to place them both in this back room.

He knew that it was his master's wife who was deliberately trying to disrupt his state of mind, make his cultivation realm drop, and then completely kill him.

  Wiping him out completely.

Yun Miao's expression was dazed, and his heart trembled for a moment. He thought of the past.

Back then, there were no two junior disciples yet.

In his memory, his master's wife was a gentle woman. Since his master brought him into the sect, she had always taken good care of him, being meticulous in every way.

His master's wife and his master were very affectionate. But when did things start to change?

Yun Miao racked his brains thinking about it. Was it when the two junior disciples came up the mountain?

  It didn't seem so.

In fact, Yun Miao knew that his master's wife was the main instigator in the whole affair, and the two junior disciples just happened to go along with her.

He really couldn't figure it out. He only knew one thing.

Cultivation on the mountain could really turn people into demons.

  Having power and controlling power.

Many cultivators only had power but never truly controlled it.

Doing as one pleases without overstepping boundaries.

Cultivators often only did as they pleased and forgot about not overstepping boundaries.

Thinking of this, Yun Miao couldn't help but ask himself, had he controlled his power? Had he not overstepped boundaries?

  No one could answer him.

He sat in the house in autumn, watching the old tree in front of the door lose all its leaves and be covered with cold white snow.

Along with the snow came his master's wife, whom he hadn't seen for a long time.

Yun Miao's expression was a bit dazed. He looked at his master's wife. She didn't seem to have changed much from before. She was still so beautiful, just lacking that gentleness.

The woman was wearing thin and revealing clothes, with a charming smile on her lips. She walked slowly in the cottage.

"Oh you, you. You were the one I liked the most back then. But you were a bit too proper. You really gave your master's wife a headache."

Yun Miao lowered his eyes and didn't look at the woman. He replied calmly, "I'm just being a decent person."

"Hmph." The woman sneered disdainfully. Her slender fingers slid across the coffin, and then she sat directly on it with her shapely buttocks.

"This old guy was too proper. He didn't know how to please others at all. It was so boring. It was really a pity for my good years to have to pretend to be proper with him."

Yun Miao clenched his clothes tightly in his hands, his tone trembling a little. "Was it really just pretending?"

"Otherwise?" The woman raised her eyebrows flirtatiously. "I was only twenty years old back then, and this old guy was already over a hundred years old. Such a perverted old thing. After getting married, he still pretended to be proper with me."

"But... but..." Yun Miao stammered and couldn't say anything.

"Oh my." The woman gently stroked her delicate cheek with her fair and slender hand and said reproachfully.

"Actually, it's not really my fault. Everyone likes the young, right? Your master, who was already a hundred years old, still wanted to marry me, a twenty-year-old girl. Now that I'm two hundred years old, it's understandable for me to find two young disciples, isn't it?"

Yun Miao didn't answer. Instead, he questioned something else.

"I heard that over a dozen outer sect disciples have died."

The woman got down from the coffin, tilted her almond-shaped eyes, and said helplessly, "Dogs that don't listen can only be beaten to death."

Yun Miao's palm, which was gripping his lapel, had already clenched into a fist, and the veins on his forehead bulged.

"Hehe." The woman covered her small mouth and chuckled softly. She waved her hand and advised.

"Don't be angry. After all, you were also my beloved little dog back then. It's just that you're a bit disobedient now. I'm still thinking about what to do with you."

  "Absurd!" Yun Miao roared angrily.

The woman loosened the front of her dress a little, her beautiful face looking charming.

"As long as you accept it, it won't be absurd. It'll be joyous."

"Get out!" Yun Miao pointed angrily at the door. He really couldn't accept that the once gentle and virtuous master's wife had turned into such a person.

The woman's charming expression also turned cold, just like the snow outside. Her tone became even colder.

"Do you know that I've prepared an even bigger coffin and was planning to put it in this room too."

Yun Miao looked at the woman angrily. "What's there to be afraid of death?!"

"Good." The woman laughed and pointed at the coffin, sneering.

"But do you know that even with one more bigger coffin, this room won't be filled up. We'll need one more smaller coffin."

Yun Miao's expression instantly turned pale. "She's little junior sister. She doesn't know anything."

The woman's expression was cold. She walked slowly past Yun Miao and said sarcastically as she passed by.

"What's the use of keeping the little dog when the big disobedient dog is dead."

She stepped out and slammed the door heavily.

Yun Miao slumped to the ground, his expression dazed. Looking at the coffin in front of him, after a long silence, he asked helplessly.

  "Master, what should I do?"

There was no reply in the silent room for a long time, and there couldn't be a reply either.

  In the main hall.

Xia Chan was holding incense candles and respectfully said to the statue in front of her.

"Pay respects to the Mysterious Yellow Supreme, the Three Thousand Great Dao, the Infinite Heaven and Earth, the Supreme Ruler of the Universe, the Great Celestial Venerable who controls life and death, changes the Five Elements, and has divine powers."

She recited it very smoothly without any pause.

Then Xia Chan inserted the incense candles into the incense burner.

The smoke curled up and drifted straight out of the hall, reaching the mountain gate.

A figure in a green shirt happened to arrive at the gate, saying that he came to pay respects to a master.

In fact, it was to enter the secular world.
