Kapitel 82: Chapter 82 The Green Goblin Shocked by Batman Dark Humor

Near Oscorp Tower, the Green Goblin proposal for Batman and Spider-Man to join his cause was met with outright rejection. His aura grew even more murderous.

Not that he hadn't expected it.

"What a pity…"

The Goblin let out a maniacal laugh. From behind his back, he secretly drew a blade he had prepared, hurling it in a sudden sneak attack.

The demonic knife spun through the air at blinding speed, aimed directly at Anton and Spider-Man.

Clang!

Anton, anticipating the attack, intercepted the knife midair with a Batarang.

The knife and Batarang collided in a burst of sparks before detonating midair. Flames and shockwaves swept through the area, blowing away the thick smoke from a nearby burning car.

Spider-Man seized the moment, firing a web in an attempt to immobilize the Goblin.

But the Goblin was faster. He dodged and darted toward his damaged glider, where he stomped on it, activating a pre-programmed sequence. The glider propulsion system roared back to life.

This was no fluke.

The Goblin had designed his glider with contingency measures. As long as its core structure and critical components remained intact, it could switch to an auxiliary power system, restoring many of its functions.

As the Goblin prepared to take the battle to the skies, Anton immediately guessed his intentions.

He fired his grappling hook again, forcing the Goblin to dodge.

Using the retracting cable for momentum, Anton closed the distance rapidly.

With a powerful leap, he delivered a devastating kick.

BAM!

The Goblin chest armor buckled slightly as he was knocked off the glider, sent hurtling through the air.

Anton grabbed hold of the glider and gave the Goblin no chance to reclaim it. With the strength of the Arkham Knight Armor internal power system, he tore off the glider power casing with sheer force, then smashed its internal mechanisms with a single punch.

The glider was utterly destroyed. The Goblin aerial advantage vanished in an instant.

"Batman, I'll miss you!"

Even with his prized equipment ruined, the Goblin didn't falter. His expression twisted into a cold smile as he raised a hand slightly, his eyes brimming with cruelty.

Anton instincts screamed at him to retreat.

BOOM!

The Goblin detonated the glider, turning it into a massive fireball. The explosion triggered the glider built-in weaponry, amplifying the destruction.

Metal fragments flew in all directions, accompanied by a shockwave that caught Anton as he withdrew.

CRACK!

The street buckled under the force, leaving a half-meter-deep crater.

Nearby vehicles were reduced to smoldering wrecks, their windows shattered and their frames engulfed in flames.

Gasoline fumes filled the air, turning the street opposite Oscorp Tower into a war zone.

"Batman!!"

Spider-Man eyes widened in horror as he yelled. Ignoring the danger of a secondary explosion, he dashed into the flames to save Batman.

"This is the price you pay, Batman!"

The Green Goblin stood on the edge of the street, bathed in the flickering light of the inferno. The massive shadow of Oscorp Tower loomed over him, while the red glow of the flames lit one side of his figure, accentuating his villainous presence.

He made no move to stop Spider-Man from entering the blaze.

In the Goblin mind, there was no way Batman could have survived unscathed.

He watched the flames, now shrouded in black smoke, with a cold, crazed grin beneath his helmet. His heart swelled with triumph.

He had defeated the legendary hero who resonated across the nation.

Surely, if Batman wasn't dead, he was gravely wounded and no longer a threat.

The Goblin was certain that what lay ahead for Batman was a nightmarish ordeal orchestrated by his own hands.

But then, two figures emerged from the flames and smoke.

One tall.

One short.

The tall figure was, of course, Batman.

The shorter one was Spider-Man.

At this moment, Anton armor bore significant damage. The explosion of the glider at close range had embedded shards of metal into his suit, and the accompanying flames and massive shockwave had left him in far from ideal condition. Compared to his peak state, he was clearly much worse off.

If not for the superior protection offered by the Arkham Knight Armor—far more robust than the simpler Rabbit Armor—Anton might have already fallen.

Even so, the explosion had inflicted a notable amount of damage. While he was far from the dire state the Green Goblin might have hoped, the truth was undeniable: the armor damage rate had reached 67%, and Anton had lost a significant portion of his combat capabilities.

The Green Goblin laughed uproariously.

Though he was Oscorp CEO, he was also a highly educated scientist with an in-depth understanding of the situation.

"Batman, even if you're still standing, what do you have left to fight me with?" he sneered, immediately spotting Anton predicament.

His armor was extensively damaged, and his combat effectiveness was severely reduced. Even with Spider-Man help, the two of them were unlikely to take him down.

Bolstered by his earlier successes, the Green Goblin confidence soared. Even without his glider, he believed his remaining weapons and abilities were more than sufficient to defeat both Batman and Spider-Man.

"You…!" Spider-Man began, but Anton raised a hand, cutting him off.

A mysterious smile appeared on Anton exposed jaw, radiating calm assurance. "Goblin, do you really think I'm at your mercy now?"

The Green Goblin hesitated, confused but defiant. "Let see what tricks you've got left!"

In his mind, there was no conceivable way for Batman to turn the tables. But in the next instant, his eyes widened in disbelief as his jaw practically hit the floor.

Anton smiled faintly and ruffled Spider-Man hair. "Kid, let me teach you a secret move."

"What?" Spider-Man asked, utterly bewildered.

"When you face a problem you can't solve, just snap your fingers with your right hand. Who knows? Your wish might come true."

"...?"

Spider-Man was thoroughly confused. Having resigned himself to their current predicament, he hadn't expected Batman to say something so outlandish.

Then, under the astonished gazes of both Spider-Man and the Green Goblin, Anton snapped his fingers.

Snap!

A faint, almost surreal sound rippled through the air.

[Repair Arkham Knight Armor. Cost: 4 million fan points (40% of original value, original price: 10 million). Confirm?]

[Confirmed.]

The moment the snap concluded, the damaged areas of Anton armor began to repair themselves as though time were rewinding. Within mere seconds, the armor was restored to pristine condition.

"This is impossible!" the Green Goblin shrieked, his voice a mixture of rage and disbelief. No matter how he racked his brain, he couldn't fathom how Batman had managed such a miraculous feat.

Meanwhile, beneath Spider-Man mask, Peter expression turned oddly amused. He was reminded of the time Batman had pulled off a similar stunt while fighting Kingpin.

Honestly, if this weren't happening right in front of him, it would be easy to mistake it for some form of magic rather than technology.

"Faking battle damage, only to restore yourself in the moment your opponent thinks victory is assured… Is this Batman twisted sense of humor?" Spider-Man thought, glancing between Batman and the utterly shattered Green Goblin. He couldn't help but stifle a laugh, much like the Goblin had done just moments earlier.

Standing beside him, Anton flashed the Green Goblin a taunting grin.

"Have you figured out how you'd like to get beaten yet?"
