Kapitel 9: Chapter 9

There's been a very serious car accident, sir." He was finally able to say after pausing for a while to catch his breath and compose himself.

"Who was involved? That girl?" He asked.

"I'm afraid… She isn't the one sir." He answered.

"Then who? And if she wasn't the one, why were you planning to kill us?" He asked him further.

"Mr and Mrs Zaveri, sir. Your parents." He finally said, after garnering a lot of courage.

"What!?" How come? How? Where? When? Both of them? Are they injured? Is it very bad?" He kept questioning Kelvin as he began to shake like a lone leaf on a stream of water.

"I'm yet to get the full information, sir but they are at the New Gen Hospital. Damn! I think they were the ones who were rushed into the hospital when we were leaving. I'm going to turn right back now." He kept talking but got no response.

"They'll be fine. I hope they will be fine." He kept reassuring Sorin.

"I can't lose them too. No way! Please stay alive for me. Don't leave me alone. Please." Sorin kept saying to himself while Kelvin kept looking at him through the front mirror.

He had never seen him like this in years, he also hoped and prayed that nothing would go wrong with Sorin's parents because he knew for a fact that it was very likely that Sorin would be broken beyond repair.

Sorin's parents were all he had left in the world, according to him. He could not imagine life without them and they also loved him very much. Although he threw tantrums and acted very stubborn most times, deep down, he loved them with everything in him but he hardly showed it because he masked his feelings behind his expressionless and emotionless face and demeanor.

The drive back to the hospital felt like the longest drive Sorin had had in his entire life. It felt like the car was crawling sluggishly, he could have sworn that a snail would have been able to move past them. All he wanted to do at that moment was to see his parents and not just seeing them but seeing them alive, hale and hearty.

Anger began to brew in his heart as he began to imagine what could have caused the accident.

"If it was the work of someone, the person better be dead before I find him." He thought to himself as he clenched his right fist.

After what seemed like a million years, they finally arrived at the hospital. As soon as Kelvin parked at the parking lot, Sorin jumped out of the car and ran off, towards the main entrance of the hospital without waiting to shut the door. Kelvin quickly shut the door, locked the car and sped after him.

He got to the reception and began to ask the nurse on duty for more information on the accident but she didn't pay attention neither did she know who he was. The young nurse was so carried away by his looks, smiling sheepishly while twirling her hair with her fingers in a sexy manner, that she didn't hear what he was saying until he yelled at her.

"I said where are my parents?!" He shouted and his deep voice thundered through the reception, making the nurses shriek in fear.

An older nurse immediately ran towards him and spoke to him calmly while giving the younger nurse a side eye.

"I'm so sorry, sir." The older nurse said to Sorin which made the young nurse look at both of them, surprised at why the young man in front of her was being treated with so much respect by the older nurse despite being obviously younger than her.

"Who the hell is this? Is this what she is employed here to do?" Sorin asked her, disgusted at the young nurse's attitude towards him.

The older nurse gave the young nurse a deadly stare once again which made her sit upright and stop every nonsense drama she acted.

"I'm sorry sir, she's very new here. She'll be cautioned, sir." She said, in defence of the young nurse because she knew what Sorin was capable of doing to the young nurse if she wasn't careful.

"She better be! Now, where are my parents before I lose my temper?" He questioned her.

"Please come with me sir." She said, as she immediately walked briskly to the VIP Accident and Emergency Building.

At this moment, Kelvin, who had been lagging behind Sorin all along, hurriedly ran in. Sorin stared at him before asking,

"And where have you been?"

"I got a call from the office and I was attending to it, sir." Kelvin responded but Sorin didn't care at that moment, he just looked away.

Sorin and Kelvin followed closely behind the nurse as she led the way to the Accident and Emergency Building.

As they stepped into the building, the nurses and doctors were in a haste to welcome him but he wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone yet, he just wanted to see his parents and know if they are fine.

"Where are they?" He asked, and immediately, one of the doctors came towards him.

"Sir, this way please." He gestured with his hand and Sorin followed him with Kelvin following closely behind them.

As he followed the doctor, Sorin's heart began to beat faster than normal. He was extremely scared of what he was going to see. He didn't know what shape his parents were at that moment, all he knew was that they were still alive.

As they approached the room, the bold signage on the door got clearer and clearer. The signage, reading "I.C.U" which stands for the INTENSIVE CARE UNIT, sent shivers down Sorin's spine. It only served to remind him of the long, painful hours he had spent there in the past. This made his heart race and his palms began to sweat with anxiety because the sight of the signage only amplified the fear and uncertainty that had plagued him beforehand.

He could only hope and pray that the doctor would walk past that very door because that room alone was enough to transport him back to one of the darkest moments of his life.

As the doctor got to the door and stopped, Sorin stopped in his tracks. It brought back memories, memories of the past, memories he had tried so hard to bury, memories he had tried so hard not to remember anymore because of the pain it had caused him over the years.

He couldn't believe it was happening all over again.
