71.42% Demon Island / Chapter 110: Li Mingda's Return

Kapitel 110: Li Mingda's Return

The form of the disaster legion, the rank of the rune stones, the second-tier legion buildings, the functionality of the stables, and the legion command tower/camp can summon a hundred disaster knights to serve you. Currently, the legion members stand at zero/one demon battle steed.

I hold no particular opinion regarding the disaster world, yet conveying that to them proves challenging.

In response to Wang Zhong's inquiry, I scratched my head and replied, "I feel that vanquishing more foes will yield greater benefits. What do you think?

Should we seek out additional monsters to slay?"

Wang Zhong fell into contemplation, clearly intrigued by my suggestion, which alarmed Tang Lei, who hastily interjected, "We should avoid danger; encountering those monsters again could certainly lead to fatalities.

You cannot disregard everyone's safety."

I retorted coldly, "Then what do you propose we do?" Tang Lei was momentarily speechless; how could he know how to confront this situation? After a prolonged pause, he finally murmured, "I believe we should unite our efforts and thoughtfully discuss our future course of action."

"Discuss what nonsense!"

I snapped irritably. Tang Lei was utterly useless; he had no solutions to offer yet still expected us to heed his counsel.

Who would tolerate such a fool? I turned directly to Wang Zhong and stated, "I intend to head north; what do you think?"

Wang Zhong regarded me thoughtfully, a knowing smile playing on his lips as he replied, "Very well!" With our direction confirmed, Gu Lengzhai let out a bitter laugh and said to Tang Lei, "I believe it would be best for us to act together. Should we not depart promptly?"

Tang Lei appeared quite flustered but dared not voice any objections.

With a dismissive wave, he turned to rally the others. This rotund man had a knack for rallying support; after my brief absence, Huang Shengqiu, Lu Li, Sun Yan, and the high school girl Chen Xiu had all gravitated to his side. The lawyer Zhang Bo seemed somewhat indecisive, having navigated society and thus retained some awareness.

He was not particularly close to anyone at this moment. Wang Lili appeared to have made her choice, aligning herself with us, showing no signs of discontent regarding my and Wang Zhong's decision.

She was eager to leave this place, wielding a long knife in one hand and carrying an assortment of items she had scavenged, ready for immediate departure.

Wang Zhong mounted the black steed, leading the charge out of the camp.

I strolled leisurely at the back, my hands stuffed in my pockets. I had already devised a plan for training this group; within ten days, I would complete this task, and then it would be time for the next batch.

The icy true qi within me slowly surged through the hand yangming large intestine meridian. Having previously cleared the hand taiyin lung meridian, I found myself quite adept at it this time. However, the true qi within me now differed from when I utilized the cards;

it coursed through various meridians, manifesting sensations of cold, heat, roughness, smoothness, expansion, and contraction. Quickening or slowing at will, it flowed with remarkable flexibility, guided solely by my thoughts.

It could navigate any path, but only when I channeled true qi along the route of the nameless martial arts technique did the chilling sensation resonate throughout my meridians.

With lingering concerns on my mind, my pace naturally slowed, and I took on the responsibility of maintaining the rear guard to avert any potential dangers.

A fragrant breeze wafted by as Lu Li broke away from the group and approached me. She seemed to have been holding back for quite some time and quickly exclaimed, "Could you ask Wang Zhong to let me ride that black horse for a while?

I'm utterly exhausted and can barely keep going!" My contemplation of the intricate changes within my true qi was abruptly disrupted by Lu Li's interruption, which soured my mood. I asked brusquely, "On what grounds do you think you deserve to ride?"

"Because I'm a girl!

she pouted. Seeing her sulky expression ignited my anger; I had already found her annoying when she competed with Chen Xiu for that old horse. Her obstinacy in wanting to leave yesterday had completely shattered my hopes for her judgment.

This foolish woman has a brain filled with water on the left and flour on the right; when she's still, it's one thing, but when she moves, it's all a mess."

Lu Li, oblivious to my irritation, pressed closer and declared loudly, "If you don't find me a mount, I won't leave! Let's see what you do then!" I firmly pushed her aside, lacking even the interest to explain my intentions, opting instead to express myself through action.

As I strode away, Lu Li, in a fit of pique, mounted the horse.

It wasn't until she saw us moving further away that she panicked.

Just as she attempted to chase after me, a gaunt horse appeared on the horizon, carrying a disheveled man, a specter of dread that startled Lu Li into action. She dashed forward, her long legs propelling her towards the front of the line, forgetting her fatigue. I sensed the shift behind me without needing to look back; the mysterious beauty, Judina, had overlooked something.

My mental acuity remained unaffected in the disaster world, indicating that my lineage was indeed quite extraordinary.

A slight frown crossed my brow as I sensed the rider's presence, heavy with the aura of death.

This was not particularly unusual in the disaster world, where the dark overlord's minions were common. However, the identity of this rider posed a dilemma; it was none other than Li Mingda, who had abandoned us not long ago, and even the emaciated horse beneath him was the same as before. "How could this man suddenly become an undead creature and return alone?

Lu Li dashed past me, unleashing a scream that drew the attention of the group ahead. Though Tang Lei and the others had been walking ahead of me, they had not strayed too far, as Wang Zhong's black steed had created a considerable distance. They certainly did not dare to distance themselves from me, their reliable support.

When Tang Lei saw the solitary rider approaching the group with a menacing countenance, he was seized with fear, cold sweat trickling down his back.

He let out a loud shout and sprinted forward. His panic set off a chain reaction, causing Wang Lili, Chen Xiu, Sun Yan, and Zhang Bo to flee in terror, while Huang Shengqiu stumbled in fright, his legs turning to jelly, moving slower than a crawl. Only Gu Lengzhai mustered the courage to adopt a defensive stance, though his legs trembled slightly.

Li Mingda's eyes burned with a dim, dark red flame, bearing the marks of battle as he leisurely pursued the group on his old horse.

The steed beneath him appeared to have been ravaged by some corrosive force, its skull exposed, veins grotesquely visible, resembling a specter more than a living creature, reminiscent of the foul mounts ridden by disaster knights.

Kapitel 111: Return to the Village

As he approached gradually, I kept my hands firmly in my pockets, making no movement, not even turning my head.

Through my mental perception, I had already sensed that Li Mingda's soul fire was dimmed to an alarming degree, scarcely better than the most rudimentary skeleton warrior. Such a feeble undead could be effortlessly dealt with; adopting any combat stance would be a mere waste of effort.

I have returned!" Li Mingda's voice was indistinct, yet I discerned his meaning through the waves of my spirit; this fugitive prisoner audaciously sought to rejoin our ranks.

No problem, as long as you abide by the rules, I care not whether our company consists of humans or specters." Upon hearing my response, conveyed through spiritual waves, Li Mingda tightened his grip on his steed and slowly followed behind me.

Gu Lengzhai, unable to comprehend our exchange, was taken aback when Li Mingda shouted a few words at me before falling silent, clearly astonished. He whispered, "What does he wish to accompany us for?" I shrugged and replied, "He desires to return to the group, and I have acquiesced.

Perhaps soon, we shall all find ourselves in a similar state; accepting him is tantamount to accepting ourselves."

Gu Lengzhai fell silent, his inner turmoil evident as he grappled with fear and resistance to my words. Sighing, I patted his shoulder, choosing not to elaborate further.

Logically, these individuals had long since passed; their current forms were merely gifts from a powerful entity, and none could predict how they might evolve in the future. Acceptance would require time, and I understood his hesitance. What surprised me most was that, while I had initially thought Wang Zhong to be the most capable among them, it was Li Mingda—the one I had deemed a lost cause—who first transformed into a warrior.

An aura of combat emanated from him, a small sphere of energy slowly rotating within his chest, imbued with the somber essence of death. I activated a capability from the Guiding Contract, and Li Mingda's information materialized before me.

Li Mingda, type: Disaster Knight Steed, undeveloped demon steed weapon, unranked. I casually removed a horn bow from my back along with a flask of collected black-feathered arrows, tossing them to Li Mingda.

He accepted these items without uttering a word, cradling them silently as if unable to determine where to place them. Having become an undead, Li Mingda's intelligence appeared to be on a downward trajectory, and I found myself powerless to enlighten him, opting instead to act as though I hadn't noticed.

Gu Lengzhai, roused from his shock, followed closely behind me. Although he made an effort to maintain distance from Li Mingda, he couldn't help but scrutinize the man transformed into an undead, clearly struggling to accept such a brutal reality.

Wang Lin, what should we do?

Should we reveal the truth to everyone?" "What truth do you speak of?" Gu Lengzhai hesitated before stating, "The truth that we will all end up like him!" He pointed at Li Mingda but quickly withdrew his finger, evidently not wanting this new incarnation of an old comrade to take note.

Not everyone will necessarily become that peculiar form. I am currently pondering a few matters; once I have clarity, I will share how to avoid such a fate!

Gu Lengzhai was taken aback, asking, "Wang Lin, have you uncovered some secret about this world?

Is it concerning us?

I nodded and casually brushed a strand of hair from my forehead. Lost in deep thought, a fleeting image of the past or future crossed my mind, though it was too swift for me to discern. Yet, I had a premonition that I was on the verge of uncovering a significant secret, one intricately connected to my power's enhancement, unrelated to "us."

Not long after, I spotted Chen Xiu, exhausted and seated, not far from her was the slender college student, Sun Yan, crouching nearby. They were the weakest among us, and upon seeing Li Mingda with his ghostly eyes following closely behind me, their faces turned pale with fear.

There is no need to fear him. He poses no danger now. If you are too fatigued, you may utilize his demon steed for the journey.

As soon as I uttered those words, Chen Xiu and Sun Yan struggled to rise, adopting a running posture that was several times slower than walking, instinctively preparing to flee. I had little interest in explaining myself to them, and Gu Lengzhai, lost in thought, did not attempt to restrain the two women, accustomed as he was to being the good Samaritan.

Human acceptance is remarkably resilient; when Sun Yan and Chen Xiu had exhausted their last ounce of strength, to the point where even lifting a finger became a struggle, they accepted the reality of Li Mingda's companionship without further explanation.

They also accepted his goodwill, sharing his demon steed for the journey.

In truth, they preferred that I and Gu Lengzhai carry them, but when I firmly stated, "You will either be abandoned by the roadside or refrain from being so picky," they had no choice but to resign themselves to the situation, despite the demon steed's somewhat terrifying appearance.

Dismounting, Li Mingda continued to hold the bow and arrows I had casually given him, trudging along with a demeanor that surpassed that of the other team members—honest and obedient. I couldn't help but think, "Transforming these team members into undead might not be such a bad idea, considering they have long since passed."

After scouting several dozen miles ahead, Wang Zhong finally returned, observing our disheveled state with curiosity. Upon seeing me and Li Mingda, he finally inquired, "What is the situation with him?" "I do not know!" I replied succinctly.

Wang Zhong glanced at Li Mingda a couple of times but did not press further, merely stating, "Not far ahead lies a village;

it seems there are people there. I caught a glimpse from afar and believe we can rest there!

I nodded in agreement. I understood Wang Zhong's intention;

he sought my company to explore the village, and he was also curious about Li Mingda, but now was not the time for such explanations, and I had no interest in discussing it.

Suddenly, Li Mingda grunted and, in a muffled tone, declared, "I can also participate in the battle!" Wang Zhong, intrigued by Li Mingda's ability to speak, noticed the bow in his hands and asked, "Can you use a bow?"

This time, Li Mingda seemed to react strongly, as the energy within him surged into the bow he held, causing the otherwise ordinary short bow to undergo a remarkable transformation, adorned with an exceedingly simple symbol.
