Are there rewards for defeating supervillains?
Is this a mistake? I'm just in a relationship-based account with superheroes.
As a "relationship character," shouldn't my role be to live as an ordinary person in a world full of superheroes, to do odd jobs, or maybe provide them with a warm haven? So why is this happening?
Evan, who had just defeated Vulture, pondered this with mild resignation.
Imagine Iron Man, in his high-tech armor, gearing up for a big fight, and Pepper calling him up: "Hey, Tony, I've already taken care of the enemy. Stop messing around in the iron suit and get back to work!"
My gosh, the Iron Man movies would need a new name—maybe Iron Assistant.
This [Extraordinary Relationship System] definitely doesn't seem very straightforward. It's like it expects me to do the heavy lifting.
Despite his grumbling, Evan looked over the rewards seriously.
Hmm… Maybe it's like the difference between taking on NPC missions in online games and grinding mobs in the wild. Compared to the rewards he'd get for triggering a mission from Gwen, the rewards for actively defeating villains seem lacking.
A million dollars? That's a lot for an average person, but money doesn't mean much to him.
A Captain America collectible? Phil Coulson from S.H.I.E.L.D. would be all over it.
Vulture's undying loyalty?
Why would he need loyalty from a creepy old guy?
Well, he could always use a handyman.
After thinking it over, Evan made his choice.
[Option 3]
At least Toomes, as a former electrical engineer, would be more useful than the first two options.
Vulture, who had just started to feel relieved, saw Evan suddenly stop and turn back, and his heart sank.
"You…"
Just as Vulture was about to say something, his mind clouded over.
Then, he and his suit dissolved into a stream of data and disappeared.
"What's this?" Evan murmured.
According to the system's instructions, he opened the console on his suit's wrist and pressed a button.
The data reformed, and Vulture reappeared, his armor intact.
This was unexpected…
So, absolute loyalty actually means he's become a summonable asset?
A few days later…
Evan was sitting in front of his laptop, browsing information online.
That night, Kingpin had indeed shifted his activity zones. Evan checked all the locations Vulture had provided but found nothing.
So, for now, he decided to let things cool down and wait for the right moment to deal with the so-called underground king.
After all, they hadn't even met, and he didn't have a personal vendetta against him—yet.
"Oh, big brother, you're keeping up with this news too!"
Jessica, carrying a small black shoulder bag, leaned over to check out Evan's screen. "That black-suited spider guy who showed up recently looks a lot like Ghost Spider. Do you think they're a couple or something?"
Evan sighed. He'd clearly told the media he was Spider-Man, yet here he was, known as the "Black Spider."
I'm not Miles Morales!
Jessica kept chattering in his ear. "He's really mysterious, though. The supervillain Vulture who almost hit us the other day disappeared without a trace. Some people think the Black Spider killed him."
"I heard from Gwen that her dad is pretty upset about it. He thinks criminals should be turned over to the police, not handled by others."
"Jessica, you're going to be late for school. Don't start the first day by being tardy," Evan said, lifting his wrist to show her the time on his watch.
"Ooh, nice new watch!" Jessica grinned, poking his shoulder playfully before heading out. "Alright, I'll go. But remember, there's a party tonight! Gwen will be there too!"
"Don't worry, I'll be there," Evan called after her.
After she left, he glanced at the recent news articles.
"Tony Stark hasn't become Iron Man yet, so super-villains are still pretty rare these days," he muttered.
With no "fated enemies" appearing for Gwen or Jessica, he turned off the screen, shelving his plan to track down villains.
Why exhaust himself fighting supervillains for rewards? Instead, he could build connections with future superheroes, complete a few simple missions, load a template, and live the easy life as a "relationship character."
Yep, he was that lazy.
It might just be an old habit he'd picked up over the years.

"Gwen, you seem a bit off today."
"Do I?" Gwen replied, taking out a small mirror and smiling at her reflection. "I don't see any worry lines."
Jessica gave her a pointed look. "Well, you've been eating a lot lately. I heard people tend to overeat when they're upset."
Then, she added seriously, "Don't eat too much at the party tonight, or you'll feel bad if you lose your shape."
"…"
Gwen sighed inwardly. Fighting crime takes a lot of energy—why not eat a little extra?
