Chapter 4: No One Accepts Me? Then I’ll Live a New Life

In the dimly lit living room with the doors and windows tightly shut, Takumi sat quietly in a chair, his face covered by a silk scarf.

The second stir of his reincarnation eye came unexpectedly. Takumi had no choice but to send a message to Tsunade, asking her to help him take a leave of absence as he needed some time to recuperate.

As for how long he would need, Takumi couldn't say for sure. He would remain at home resting until the second stir of his reincarnation eye was over.

"Knock, knock, knock!"

"Hyūga Takumi!"

The sound of knocking startled Takumi out of his thoughts. As his mind returned to the present, he got up and opened the door.

Though his eyes were covered, his powerful spiritual energy and perception allowed him to navigate without any inconvenience, even in darkness.

Tsunade wasn't alone; she had a child with her. The chakra emanating from them wasn't ordinary. No, it was chakra that only a select few could possess.

That child, with their immense vitality and extraordinary chakra, combined with the sensitive timing, made Takumi quickly guess their identity.

Kushina Uzumaki!

Takumi opened the door himself, and Tsunade examined him, surprised.

"I thought Hyūga Takumi couldn't even take care of himself anymore. I didn't expect you to move around so freely!"

Takumi stepped aside and replied, "Though I can't see anything, my sense of smell, hearing, and perception allow me to maintain a normal life. As for my work at the Konoha Hospital, I can only pause it for now."

Tsunade ushered Kushina into Takumi's home, surveying the interior. Kushina, following behind, looked around like a curious child.

"I'll handle things at the hospital. You just focus on resting at home."

Tsunade waved her hand dismissively, pulling Kushina to sit on the sofa. However, she seemed a bit worried and added, "But about your eyes…"

"It's just a minor aftereffect. They should recover after some time."

Takumi gave Tsunade a reassuring smile and nodded at Kushina.

"Hello! I'm Kushina, Uzumaki Kushina."

Kushina instinctively stood up to introduce herself to Takumi.

"Hyūga Takumi, nice to meet you."

At this moment, the village elders wouldn't allow outsiders to interact with Kushina, but since she was brought by Tsunade, it was fine.

"My sister Kushina is a lovely girl!"

Tsunade raised an eyebrow, intentionally elongating the word "lovely."

Kushina, who was curiously staring at Takumi, turned beet red and stomped her foot in protest, "Tsunade, what are you talking about?"

"....."

Even though he couldn't see, Takumi could tell from her teasing tone that Tsunade was being mischievous.

"Ahaha."

Kushina blushed even more, while Tsunade found it amusing.

However, Kushina was sensitive and could easily cry if teased too much. Tsunade had to promptly change the subject:

"By the way, since you can't see, I brought you some food—rice balls, meatballs, and..."

These are all things I don't like. You might as well have brought me some vegetables; I could cook for myself.

At least being blind wouldn't stop Takumi from cooking.

He was quite picky about food and didn't have much interest in rice balls or meatballs.

"You can keep them for yourself. If you really want to help, just bring me some vegetables."

Takumi waved off Tsunade's kind gesture.

I know you mean well, but I can't settle for things I don't want. So, you take those home to eat.

"You can still cook for yourself?"

Tsunade exclaimed in surprise, recalling the delicious bento she had enjoyed lately, swallowing involuntarily. This was a welcome surprise.

"I can manage. It shouldn't affect the taste; want to try?"

"Absolutely!"

"....."

How embarrassing, Kushina thought, covering her face. She felt Tsunade was being a bit much.

This handsome young man can't see, yet he still wants someone else to cook? Tsunade, didn't you just eat out and drink a lot?

Half an hour later, when the braised beef and potatoes were served at the table, tears of joy streamed down Kushina's cheeks as she finished three big bowls with watery eyes.

So delicious!

"Burp!"

Unlike Kushina, who needed to maintain her image, Tsunade didn't care at all. She slouched on the sofa, burping loudly, admitting she had overeaten.

Takumi is incredible; he can make such delicious food even without seeing.

Kushina looked at Takumi with sparkling eyes.

After a short break, Tsunade straightened up, rubbing her belly.

"Takumi, can you tell me about your eyes? If you need help, just say the word."

"For now, everything is under control; it's just inconvenient to go out and buy things."

Takumi shook his head. If he needed anything, he wouldn't hesitate to ask Tsunade. Right now, I'm relying on you, and one day, you'll rely on me.

"From now on, I'll help you buy what you need after work," Tsunade offered generously.

"I can't take it anymore; I need to rest for a bit. Kushina, call me when you're ready to go home; I'll take a nap first."

Feeling the effects of the alcohol, Tsunade thought she needed to sleep for a while. Takumi's sofa was large, soft, and very comfortable.

Taking up the entire sofa, Tsunade turned her back to Takumi and Kushina and fell asleep.

She really isn't shy at all.

Takumi chuckled quietly.

Kushina felt so embarrassed she could almost dig a hole in the floor.

"Takumi-kun, Tsunade-neesan drank a lot today and came directly here after receiving your message, so…"

Kushina could only try her best to explain Tsunade's behavior.

What a good girl—gentle and considerate… uh.

Suddenly, Takumi remembered Kushina's nickname: the Crimson Hot Pepper.

This nickname started as a joke from her classmates but became one that Kushina earned with her fists.

Letting everyone know that this fiery hot pepper isn't to be trifled with.

That was careless of me.

"How do you feel about living in Konoha? When will you start attending the ninja school?"

Takumi shifted the topic back to Kushina.

"Not good at all."

Perhaps feeling comfortable with Takumi, Kushina let go of her reserve and anxiety, pouting, "I can only stay beside Grandma Mito; I can't go anywhere, and there's not a familiar face in sight."

As she spoke, her eyes began to redden, and tears welled up, threatening to spill over at any moment.

"....."

Tsunade, with her back to Takumi and Kushina, twitched her lips slightly.

Hyūga Takumi, why are you discussing such things with Kushina? I want to see how you comfort her.

Takumi listened quietly.

Just as Kushina was about to cry, he gently shook his head and said, "When a person arrives in an unfamiliar place, they often feel lost and helpless in the absence of security."

"Though I have my clan members around me, they feel even more foreign to me than strangers."

"Ah?"

Kushina's tears, which were about to fall, stopped immediately. She looked at Takumi with confusion. More foreign than strangers?

Takumi pointed to his eyes and smiled wryly. "Because, to my clan, I suffer from the terrible blood disease. I'm about to lose the unique ocular techniques of our clan and become useless."

"Takumi-kun is not useless; you're clearly so talented!"

Kushina forgot her own sadness, defending Takumi, "Tsunade-neesan said you have great potential. Medical ninjutsu is something most people find difficult to master, yet you can learn it in no time. You're a genius! Your clan just lacks vision."

"Maybe."

Takumi shook his head slightly, seriously saying, "In truth, I don't care about my family's coldness, the indifferent gazes of my clan, or the unequal treatment I receive. Since no one accepts me, I'll start a new life and look forward. One cannot live in the pain of the past."

One must look ahead; one cannot live in the pain of the past.

This phrase echoed continuously in Kushina's mind.
