Kapitel 29: Chapter 29: Kill the Vampires

By the Hudson River, in an abandoned shipyard.

This was Blade's secret base, where he lived with Whistler, the vampire hunter who had raised him.

Blade had gone out to retrieve some serum.

Although he didn't need to drink human blood like other vampires, he still required a special serum injection.

While Whistler stayed at the shipyard, he noticed something unusual.

Suddenly, he remembered Blade had warned him just a few days ago to be cautious.

It must be those damned vampires!

He grabbed a submachine gun, carefully watching his surroundings. Several shadows flitted between the massive shipbuilding machinery.

Before he could get a clear look, the sound of wind rushed from behind. A huge force struck his back, sending Whistler stumbling forward, barely managing to stay on his feet.

He turned and fired a volley of bullets, but no one was there.

"Hahaha… cackle…"

Derisive laughter echoed all around, but he couldn't see any enemies.

Gritting his teeth, a fierce resolve welled up inside him.

If they want to kill me, let them come!

His eyes darted to the workbench nearby, and he slammed his palm down. Instantly, a "beep, beep" sound activated throughout the shipyard...

When Blade returned to the shipyard, he found it engulfed in flames, with half of the factory's roof collapsed.

There was no sign of Whistler amidst the inferno.

On the wall beside him, there was a message. It was an address, stating that if he wanted to save Whistler, he should go there.

Enraged, Blade stormed off.

Shortly after he left, an old, withered hand emerged from the Hudson Riverbank nearby.

Whistler, severely injured, crawled onto the shore. As he gazed at the raging fire, his heart filled with sorrow.

Walking to the door, he suddenly noticed the writing on the wall and the address. He immediately realized it was a trap.

Seeing the tire marks on the ground, Blade had already been here!

Overcome with anxiety, he coughed up blood.

In his pain, a number popped into his mind—Blade had told him this number. Perhaps there was still hope!

He quickly gathered his strength. He needed to find a phone booth; that person might be able to save Blade!

Emma Church.

Cohen was reviewing his strength. After his last mission at the vampire archive, he had opened another bronze and iron-tier loot box.

His leveling progress had slowed considerably, and he had no idea where to find a bunch of silver-tier targets to kill. It was frustrating.

Or perhaps, he could go to the vampire blood feast a few more times?

But ever since last time, Frost hadn't hosted another.

While he pondered, the phone rang. A frail, weak old voice came through.

"I-Is this Iron Man? Save… Save Blade…"

Whistler weakly explained what had happened, and Cohen couldn't help but sigh. Blade, you really have a stubborn head.

Faced with this, why didn't you call me sooner? Do you even realize that the enemy has your mother? Could you make that decision?

I could have dealt with her, and then you could've finished Frost. It would've been so simple!

Grumbling aside, Cohen packed his gear and prepared to rescue Blade. If he remembered correctly, the villain Frost had kidnapped twelve pureblood elders at this point.

If he could kill them, he could at least get two silver-tier loot boxes, and with a little luck, his strength might skyrocket.

Before leaving, he stopped by the hospital where Karen worked. At his request, Karen had developed an anticoagulant.

For vampires, it was the deadliest poison.

In the original movie, Frost gained the powers of the blood god, eliminating nearly all vampire weaknesses. He became incredibly strong, and Blade only managed to defeat him using this anticoagulant.

When Cohen arrived at the address, the building was already deserted.

Broken glass and bullet-riddled walls told the story of a fierce battle.

Cohen rubbed his face. It seemed Blade had been captured, just as expected.

His mother was in the hands of others, so no matter how invincible his combat skills were, what could he do? The saddest part was that his mother was helping the enemy.

At this moment, she was probably on the altar, draining Blade's blood.

Cohen immediately contacted David: "Have you found the location of the altar?"

David's calm voice came through, "There aren't many places around New York undergoing major construction recently, just over a hundred. Eliminating the publicly known sites, there are about a dozen left.

"Excluding military and government sites, that leaves three.

"I hacked into the cameras near your location. One of them caught their convoy moving in a specific direction, and only one site matches. It's a hidden underground construction site, currently mapping out routes..."

Driving at full speed, Cohen approached a tightly concealed building. As soon as he neared it, the system alerted him:

[Ding, Temporary Quest Issued: Kill That Vampire!

Quest Objective: New York is in danger. Save it, knight of the God of Punishment.

Quest Duration: Unlimited.

Quest Reward: Loot box based on completion.]

Cohen's heart raced. His last ability upgrade card had come from a temporary quest. If he could get another, maybe he could truly become an electric man?

Or perhaps a rock-hard dragon man?

Come on, Frost. You and I are enemies for life!

However, as soon as he entered the underground altar, he realized something was wrong. There were too many enemies.

And he was a bit late. The sacrifice had already begun.

In the main chamber, the wind howled, and a deep rumbling filled the air.

With his human-limit spirit, Cohen sensed an overwhelmingly powerful and almost unbeatable force descending.

Swallowing hard, he immediately changed his battle plan. Blade, my brother, I'm coming to save you.

In the sealed chamber above the altar, Blade was trapped between two massive stones, his limbs pierced, blood drained, barely clinging to life.

Cohen activated a switch, and the stones moved apart, letting Blade's limp body collapse to the ground.

In the original movie, the heroine Karen sacrificed herself here, letting Blade drink her blood to regain his strength and power up before facing the villain.

But Cohen had no intention of letting Blade drink his blood.

He had prepared in advance, grabbing a few spare blood bags from the hospital when he collected the anticoagulant. Turns out, they came in handy.

After drinking the blood, Blade quickly regained consciousness. Seeing Cohen, he was shocked: "Iron Man, what are you doing here?"

"If I hadn't come, you'd already be dead!

"Hmph, Whistler asked me to rescue you."

Blade's eyes lit up: "He's still alive?"

"If he hadn't called me, you'd have died before him. You've fought in so many battles, how could you be so reckless?"

Blade's dark face flushed slightly: "I was trying to save someone! Time is life, there was no time to hesitate!"

Cohen tossed him the anticoagulant, with a dozen syringes filled with a greenish liquid.

"This is the anticoagulant. Inject it into a vampire, and they're dead. Don't waste it on small fry."

Cohen stood up, stepping aside. "Alright, hero, now go defeat the big bad, Frost!"
