47.61% His Wife Is the Real Boss / Chapter 10: Merely Wishing for a Meeting

Kapitel 10: Merely Wishing for a Meeting

The assistant hurried to explain, "Miss Tang, we weren't eavesdropping. We just happened to run into you as the elevator doors opened. Besides, our young master never takes interest in other people's business. Please don't misunderstand."

Tang Qianmiao raised an eyebrow and nodded slightly. "Alright, let's pretend that's the case."

"What do you mean 'pretend'? Miss Tang, I'm telling the truth, we really weren't eavesdropping," the assistant's tone grew increasingly anxious.

"Enough." A cool male voice cut off the assistant's words, his calm gaze sliding away from Tang Qianmiao's face as he walked on.

Tang Qianmiao, unhurried, spoke up, "Why do you want that perfume so badly?"

The sudden question made the man pause, but only for a second or two. Without answering, he continued walking forward.

Tang Qianmiao clicked her tongue. "That temper of yours hasn't changed."

The man kept walking, perhaps not hearing her quiet murmur.

Not long after, Tang Qianmiao turned back, just in time to run into Hei Ji, who was carrying a bag stuffed with food.

He strolled out lazily, clearly having been there for quite some time.

Glancing in the direction Feng Xian and his assistant had left, he chuckled, "Boss, if that assistant knew you could hear everything, he wouldn't have dared to lie."

His boss had been physically superior since childhood, with hearing that was several times sharper than the average person. He could hear the faintest of sounds with perfect clarity.

Tang Qianmiao continued to walk at an unhurried pace. "Watch your mouth. Don't say things you shouldn't."

"I know, boss. I only said it because there's no one else around."

Tang Qianmiao shot him a sideways glance but didn't reply.

Indeed, her body possessed many "abilities." Her six senses were far more acute than an ordinary person's, and her learning capacity was unmatched. What took others years to master, she could absorb in just a day or two. Her mother had once said it was the result of that particular drug.

She never wanted anyone to know this, and aside from a few close individuals, she had told no one.

Because of her heightened hearing, she usually wore noise-dampening devices to keep her world from becoming overwhelmingly "loud."

But today, she hadn't worn them.

Every sound reached her clearly, including what Tang Yi had said to that mother and daughter when he first entered the banquet hall.

Recalling his words, she let out a cold, mocking laugh, her eyes filled with disdain.

In Tang Qianmiao's life, there was an unsolved mystery—Tang Yi.

This man was her biological father, yet in the nineteen years of her life, he had never fulfilled even the slightest duty as a father.

At the age of eight, she had begun to suspect she wasn't his biological daughter. His indifference seemed logical if she were not. Clinging to hope, she secretly conducted a DNA test, only to be bitterly disappointed by the result.

The ringing of her phone pulled her from her thoughts.

She picked it up and answered.

A respectful voice came through. "Hello, I'm calling from the auction house. Mr. Bai's commissioned piece has been sold for eight hundred million, and the proceeds will be donated to charity, as per his instructions."

"Alright, I'll pass the message along. Thank you."

Sensing that she was about to hang up, the caller hurriedly added, "Actually, the buyer is a very influential figure—Mr. Feng Xian, from the Feng family, the first family in the country. He hopes to meet Mr. Bai."

Tang Qianmiao smirked. So that's what this was about.

He spent eight hundred million, just to meet him.

"Not interested."

"Please, just hear me out. Mr. Feng said he wants to discuss a business deal with Mr. Bai. The price is entirely up to him. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Could you pass this along to Mr. Bai?"

"Not interested."

Tang Qianmiao hung up immediately.

Hei Ji, watching her handle the call, finally spoke, "Boss, I think your father didn't like my appearance. To match you, should I dye this back to black?"

Tang Qianmiao snorted lightly, "Green suits you better."

Hei Ji groaned, "Boss, how could you say that!"

Meanwhile, in the back seat of the car, Feng Xian was resting with his eyes half-closed.

The assistant, having just gotten off the phone, turned back to report, "Boss, the auction house responded. They said... Bai Mi refused the meeting."

At these words, Feng Xian's eyes opened slightly, his cool expression shifting ever so subtly.

To the assistant, this change looked like "interest."

After all, his boss had rarely ever been refused anything. Such a rejection must have stirred his competitive spirit.

"Send me Bai Mi's assistant's contact information."

"Yes, sir."

Moments later, Feng Xian had a number in hand. But he did not dial.

His deep gaze lingered on the digits, lost in thought.
