Kapitel 9: Betrayal
Two young people could be seen on the lakeside; one was lying on the boulder while the other was grilling meat.
Anyone who saw them would think they were twins because they wore the same clothes and had the same appearance.
However, that was not the truth because the one grilling meat was only a clone.
The young man remembered that he had Ice Clone magic, so he made one clone and ordered his clone to grill meat because he wanted to rest on the boulder.
"I hope I will get a quest later, and the reward is attack magic or flight magic." Ren mused.
He would be happier if the reward was flight magic because, with this, he could leave the forest immediately.
Now, he even did not know the path to leave the forest because his system had no map feature.
"Hey, the meat is cooked. Come and eat it." his clone's voice reverberated in the lake.
Ren rose to his feet and walked toward his clone. "Thank you for the hard work."
His clone nodded before finally melting into water.
As Ren was enjoying his meat, Evelyn had breakfast with three people.
Their names were Zara Lane, Amy Cole, and Kael Flynn.
Zara Lane and Amy Cole came from the same organization as her, Misty Palace. Zara Lane was her senior sister, while Amy Cole was her junior sister.
As for Kael Flynn, he was a young man from a family that had a relationship with their organization.
Lily had left the group because her mother needed her help, so she was not with them anymore.
"We finally got the Red Lotus Herb, Evelyn," Zara spoke abruptly. "I'm sure our master will be happy later."
"Un." Evelyn nodded her head.
"Everyone, the soup is ready. Let's eat now." Amy said happily.
Evelyn and the others nodded their heads.
As they were having breakfast, they chatted again.
Even though Zara always put a smile on her pretty face, she was furious deep inside her. She kept glancing at Amy and Kael, talking to them through her eyes.
'Why is she still fine?'
She scolded Amy and Kael through her gaze.
'Didn't I tell you to carry out our plans now? Lily has returned home, so she has no one to support and help her now.'
Zara hated Evelyn to the bone, but Evelyn was not aware of this because Zara had never shown the hatred in her heart until now.
Their master even did not notice this because Zara always smiled at Evelyn and pretended as if she cared about Evelyn a lot.
Amy, who sat next to Evelyn, looked at Zara.
Even though Zara did not say anything, she understood the meaning of her gaze.
'I've put a poison in her food. Let's wait first.'
She only put poison in Evelyn's soup because they had the same goal.
Zara returned her attention to Evelyn and spoke, "Evelyn, what are you going to do after giving the magical herb to our master?"
Like before, Zara asked while smiling softly as if there was no hatred in her heart.
"I think I will…" Evelyn touched her head with her left hand before she had finished her words.
'What's going on? Why am I suddenly feeling dizzy? And my body…it feels like my body slowly loses its strength.'
The poison in her soup was tasteless and colorless, so she did not notice it earlier.
Zara's lips curled up into a grin.
'Good! The poison in her body finally starts working.'
She shifted her gaze from Evelyn to Amy and Kael.
'Get ready. We will kill her now.'
Even though Evelyn had been poisoned, she still wanted to cut off Evelyn's head because she wanted to make sure Evelyn would not survive.
As they were communicating through their eyes, Evelyn realized everything.
'Poison?'
She instantly looked at Amy because she was the one who cooked the soup.
"Did you put poison in my soup?" Evelyn kept pressing her head with her left hand because her heart started to hurt.
Not only that, but she also had difficulty staying on her feet because her body had turned weak.
"That's right. I put poison in your soup." Amy did not deny it. "Senior sister Evelyn, the poison I put in your soup is the deadly one. You will die in an hour if you don't take the antidote immediately."
Even though she was much weaker than Evelyn, there was no sign of fear in her eyes because she believed Evelyn would not be able to do anything to her.
"Why did you poison me?" Evelyn had never done anything bad to Amy before, so she wanted to know why Amy poisoned her.
"Well, senior sister Zara asked me to poison you." Amy gave an honest answer.
Zara instantly turned her head toward Amy. "Amy, why did you reveal everything?"
"Senior sister Zara, Lily has returned home, so no one will save senior sister Evelyn." Evelyn would die soon, so Amy dared to reveal everything. "Let's just tell her everything. Don't worry. Nothing will change even if she knows everything."
"That's right. I was the one who ordered Amy to poison you." Amy had revealed everything, so Zara had no other choice but to admit it.
Evelyn gritted her teeth in anger. "I've never done anything bad to you, so why? Why did you order her to poison me?"
"You have never done anything bad to me? Are you kidding me?" Zara raised her voice. "You snatched my position as the young leader, yet you still asked why?"
"I never snatched your position. Our master gave it to me." Evelyn finally knew why Zara decided to poison her.
And she finally knew that Zara pretended to be kind to her all this time.
'I was blind all this time. I was blind."
Previously, Zara was a good senior sister in her eyes because she always treated her nicely and helped her.
Now, she finally knew that Zara was a poisonous snake who had been hiding her fangs all this time.
"Are you insulting me right now?" Zara's face turned ugly because Evelyn's words sounded like she was insulting her talent. "Do you think you can insult everyone just because you have a beautiful face and great talent?"
"Senior sister Evelyn, I did not know that you were this kind of person." Amy said as she shook her head, pretending to be disappointed by Evelyn's words.
Zara suddenly had an evil idea. "Kael, do you want to enjoy her body before we kill her?"
Evelyn had taken everything from her, so she wanted to humiliate her before killing her.
"She has been poisoned. What if the poison enters my body later?" Kael did not accept immediately.
"Don't worry. The poison would not enter your body." Zara knew this because she was involved in the process of making the poison.
Kael's lips curled up into a grin. "Then I will take the offer with open arms."
Evelyn was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen in his life, so of course, he would not refuse the offer.
He knew what he did was wrong, but he did not care about it.
He believed if any man were in his shoes, he would do the same because no one could resist a beauty like Evelyn.
"Fairy Evelyn, let's enjoy ourselves together." Kael said as he licked her lips.
