Kapitel 132: Restart, Spider-Man! [132] [DDD!]

December Double Drop!

---

[30 resets remaining. Would you like to restart?]

In the Cosmic Web, Xia Luo woke up in a daze.

"What…happened?"

He looked down at his hands, trying to remember the events leading up to this moment.

The last thing he recalled was Gwen's friend showing up, and then… everything went dark.

He had no idea what happened. Everything blacked out, and then he was eliminated.

"Was it Cindy?"

Xia Luo scratched his head. "Could it really have been her?"

He didn't understand, but no problem—a little trial and error would sort it out.

As a familiar, tingling sensation spread through him, he felt his soul seem to elevate.

His resistance to spider mutation toxins had increased, meaning substances like gene disruptors aimed at mutated spider DNA would have less effect on him.

How much resistance would he need to completely block the effects? He wasn't sure. But with the Titan's Physique already mitigating the toxin's impact to an extent, it shouldn't require too much.

Unless, of course, someone crafted a gene disruptor specifically targeting Titans and Spider-Man…

But that was practically impossible.

With that thought, Xia Luo clicked [Restart].

Vrrrmmmm

The void swallowed Xia Luo's figure.

Night, atop the Empire State Building.

This time, Xia Luo didn't wait around for Old Man Steve. Instead, he leapt from the building immediately.

Using what he'd learned from the last attempt, he decided to pick up the pace.

Whoooosh

The wind roared as his glider wings unfolded, carrying him swiftly over the streets.

At the same moment, Old Man Steve was down on the sidewalk, trying to hail a cab.

"Sir, I need to get to the Empire State Building, but I'm out of cash. How about I sing you a song instead? I'm quite the performer."

"Get lost!"

The cab driver shouted and drove off.

Old Man Steve shook his head. "No manners."

"Hey, old man! Catch!"

Suddenly, Xia Luo swung past overhead, tossing a web shooter down to him.

"Carter's around the corner sneaking a Madonna burger. Go find her, then meet me at the Jacques Apartments on Wall Street."

"Little Spider! So, you're actually dead—fantastic news!"

Old Man Steve caught the web shooter, his face lighting up as he watched Xia Luo swing away.

"He came straight to find me. How touching!"

"Wait, four web shooters? Is he expecting me to teach Carter how to use this thing?"

Looking at the web shooter in his hand, Old Man Steve couldn't help but chuckle.

"Well, I guess I don't need a cab anymore."

He strapped on the web shooter and launched himself between the skyscrapers.

Meanwhile, Xia Luo landed on a rooftop billboard.

Scanning the nearby buildings, he soon zeroed in on a dark figure beneath a water tank not far away.

"The Gwen Spider-Verse? Resurrection matches?"

Felicia stood there, looking bewildered as she took in the familiar yet altered cityscape. Her thoughts raced, quickly piecing things together.

"Oh…so that's it. This must be Spider-Man's secret to immortality. I finally get it."

Felicia couldn't hide her excitement.

"Better go find Captain Carter."

"No need."

Xia Luo landed in front of her, his nano mask retracting.

"Nice to see you again, white-haired Spider," he greeted with a wave.

Felicia stared at him in shock.

"You're…Xia Luo Parker? So, you're Spider-Man!" she gasped.

Xia Luo shrugged. "Yep. Ready to jump into this dangerous, exhilarating resurrection match?"

"Wait! I don't think I'm ready yet."

"Relax. I've got you covered this time. Just sit back and enjoy the win."

No sooner had Xia Luo spoken than a streak of green flame tore through the night sky.

"Spider-Man! I found you! Hahahaha—"

Norman, riding his glider, dove toward Xia Luo—only to hesitate.

"Wait… I can't beat him right now."

Shlick—Bang!

In an instant, four metallic, dark-gold tentacles shot out, swarming Norman's figure in seconds.

Rip

Fragments of his green armor fell onto the rooftop as Xia Luo dunked Norman's head into the water tank.

"Let's see if I can wash some sense into you."

"No—wait, this is water—gurgle—"

Bubbles surfaced as Norman quickly lost consciousness.

Seeing Xia Luo deal so ruthlessly with the poor Green Goblin, Felicia gulped and instinctively backed away.

Noticing her uneasy expression, Xia Luo released Norman, turning to her with a smile. "Don't worry. He won't hold a grudge."

Felicia: "…"

How could he? He's dead.

Soon, a petite figure swung into view, her web line pulling her onto the rooftop.

Gwen had been tailing the Green Goblin.

Landing on the roof, she looked in surprise from her uncle Norman's lifeless form in the water tank to the red-and-blue-clad Spider-Man.

"Spider-Man?"

Bzzz

In that moment, a pink spider totem emerged on her chest, and a strange pull stirred within her, instinctively drawing her toward Xia Luo.

"No, my body…"

Squeak

At that instant, a tiny spider leapt from the void onto her shoulder. Its tiny fangs pierced her skin, injecting a small amount of mutated cells into her.

The invasive cells ignited Gwen's mutated genes, triggering them like a ravenous wolf, consuming the foreign cells with vigor.

Her body's thirst for "sustenance" quickly quashed her instinctive desire to get closer.

The pink totem faded, and Gwen regained her composure.

"Xia Luo Parker?"

Right on cue, Lizard Parker arrived on the rooftop behind her.

The moment he saw Xia Luo, his face lit up with joy.

"Didn't think I'd see you again…wait, are you in a match?" Lizard Parker asked, quickly piecing things together.

Xia Luo nodded. "Yep. I died again."

"Typical. You really are useless," Lizard Parker scoffed.

"You two know each other?" Gwen raised an eyebrow.

Lizard Parker nodded, about to explain when Xia Luo cut him off.

"Let's find somewhere to talk."

"Where to?" Gwen asked.

Xia Luo glanced at her. "Your place."

"No, my place isn't convenient."

"I meant your new place—the penthouse on Wall Street."

"What? How do you know about that?"

"I also know you have the keys on you."

---

Half an hour later.

The group arrived at Gwen's new apartment.

As Xia Luo entered and easily found the slippers, Gwen raised an eyebrow.

"This place feels more like your home than mine."

Xia Luo waved dismissively. "I can't afford a place like this."

Gwen sighed, "This whole thing just feels…strange."

From the side, Lizard Parker offered, "You'll get used to it. It's his superpower."

"Superpower? Is that even a Spider-Man ability?" Gwen asked, puzzled.

Old Man Steve chuckled, "That's not all. His superpower can even detect crap."

"What?" Gwen was utterly bewildered.

"Oh, shut up, would you?"

Steve shrugged, "My bad. Far more than seven people know about it, considering Natasha released a memoir after she came back. Now, probably seven billion people know."

"What?"

Xia Luo scowled. "I really need to go to Kamar-Taj and find the Sorcerer Supreme to make everyone forget about that."

"Good luck with that."

Steve set his shield down. "So, what's the plan?"

Xia Luo tapped his nano-device, and a map of New York flickered into view.

"It's simple. You guys will hide out near the Brooklyn Bridge, find Mysterio, and take him down. Leave the rest to me."

According to intel from Kingpin, Mysterio had been lurking near the bridge, releasing illusionary mist ahead of time, which had severely interfered with Xia Luo's spider sense and ultimately prevented him from successfully taking down the Black Order.

"Mysterio?" Steve mused. "Got it. I think I can locate him."

Gwen frowned. "Mysterio's illusions are terrifying. Are you sure you can pinpoint his real location?"

Steve tapped his temple. "Only one shot, but it'll be enough."

Lizard Parker looked thoughtful and turned to Xia Luo. "So, your powers aren't fully awakened yet. What exactly is this 'world crisis'?"

Along the way, they had shared some basic information.

Xia Luo shook his head. "It's complicated this time, but a few more tries should reveal it."

Carter and the others exchanged baffled glances.

"What's he talking about?"

"Not sure, but it's definitely got to do with his powers."

"Sounds impressive, though."

Steve clapped his hands together. "Alright, let's start with step one. Let's move out—"

He paused mid-sentence.

"Little Spider, we could've talked through this on the way over. Didn't need to come inside."

Xia Luo opened the fridge. "I know. I just wanted to grab some juice."

He held up a bottle. "Anyone want some? I'll split it."

The others: "…"

Gwen leaned over to Lizard Parker and whispered, "I'm not sure I trust this guy."

Lizard Parker shook his head. "On that, I disagree. If you were his enemy, you'd know what real despair feels like."

Before long, the group set out.

Brooklyn Bridge.

Up on the bridge, the Black Order was causing massive destruction.

Below, Mysterio was busy adjusting his hologram device, grumbling to himself.

"Is all this caution really necessary? These guys don't look easy to handle, sure, but there's no way Spider-Man could beat them. We could've just invited them for a simple team-up."

"Actually, it's not complicated at all."

"What?"

Suddenly, a dark figure swung into the metal beams under the bridge. Before Mysterio could release his illusionary mist, a shield came hurtling through the air.

"No!"

Thunk!

Mysterio's glass helmet flew off his shoulders, plunging into the waters below, while Steve's shield boomeranged back to his hand.

"Too easy."

He tapped his earpiece, "All set here. We'll head to Hell's Kitchen to meet up with Little Spider."

Gwen, not far away, hesitated, looking toward the bridge. The four looming figures emanated a pressure that sent her spider sense into overdrive.

"These guys are terrifying. Can we really leave him alone?"

"Trust me, he's got this."

Before Carter could finish her reassurance, a vibrant spider totem burst to life in the night sky.

100% Critical Hit!

With each reset, Xia Luo's kill count and critical state also reset.

"Already on the move?" Lizard Parker blinked.

As the spider totem in the night sky condensed into a blazing meteor, its fearsome aura radiated across the scene. Felicia, stunned, couldn't help but comment.

"Why didn't he use this move against Kingpin?"

Carter thought for a second. "Maybe…he forgot?"

"I'm telling you, Little Spider did it on purpose. He's just dying to see me again," came Old Man Steve's voice. Without hesitation, Carter turned and left.

"Don't listen to that nonsense. Hearing it will only make you dumber."

At that moment, the bridge shuddered with a massive impact as the blazing meteor plowed through Ebony Maw's psychic barriers, finally engulfing his figure.

Before he could fall into the ocean, the meteor erupted, and four mechanical arms latched onto the broken bridge as Xia Luo swung back up to the deck.

"He's here again!"

Proxima Midnight quickly hurled her trident, but one of Xia Luo's mechanical arms struck first.

Shlick!

"No!!"

Corvus Glaive watched in horror as the arm skewered his lover. A guttural scream tore from his throat.

"Why are you yelling so loud? So annoying."

The brilliant spider totem flared once more, reducing Corvus Glaive to ashes in a magical explosion.

Before he could regenerate, Xia Luo fired his web, pulling Glaive's battle blade into his hand.

"Die!"

Shlick.

With a swift strike, a gleaming magical blade cut through Cull Obsidian, slicing him in two, while the half-formed Corvus Glaive faded away.

Not far away, Carter and the others saw the Black Order get decimated within seconds.

With their weapons dissolving, Xia Luo left the scene, satisfied.

[Kill Count: 80]

Next stop: Hell's Kitchen.

In the surrounding buildings, Xia Luo's red-and-blue figure darted through the shadows, leaving unconscious bodies in his wake.

[Kill Count: 100]

After gathering enough kills, his 100% critical hit mode reignited.

Over at Kingpin's mansion, the blazing meteor streaked through the night sky once more.

"What's going on?"

Feeling the oppressive force descending from above, Hydra's Steve, who had been waiting for Mysterio's update, paled.

"Damn, it's a missile!"

"No, it's a meteor!" Chameleon, standing by the window, pointed at the brilliant light, awestruck.

Kingpin didn't hesitate, bolting for the door.

"Damn it! How did anyone find out we're meeting here? Which idiot spilled the beans—"

BOOOOM!

Before he could escape, the meteor crashed down, bursting with a shockwave of magical energy that flattened the entire mansion.

Moments later, Old Man Steve wrapped things up with the barely-conscious Kingpin and his associates.

"All done. Where's Little Spider?"

He glanced around but didn't see Xia Luo.

Carter pointed to a direction. "I saw him heading that way."

---

Meanwhile, Over Hell's Kitchen

Swinging between the rooftops over Hell's Kitchen, Xia Luo finally spotted the black motorcycle speeding through the streets below.

Once he locked onto the license plate, he was sure this was Kingpin's so-called "Master."

The timing and location all matched up perfectly.

He was eager to see who could command someone like Kingpin.

With that thought, Xia Luo shot out from his web slingshot.

Boom!

A gust of wind roared as he soared toward the motorcycle, whose rider barely glanced back before gunning the throttle.

VROOOM

The front wheel lifted, and the motorcycle's speed surged.

"Whoa, Fast and Furious style."

As Xia Luo neared the ground, he twisted mid-air, launching another web to reverse course and shoot back up.

"Oh my god, what's that?"

"Spider-Man?"

"No way, isn't Spider-Man supposed to be a woman?"

"His webbing looks…weird."

Xia Luo's sudden appearance threw traffic into chaos.

The motorcycle raced ahead without slowing, but Xia Luo's pace was even faster.
