Kapitel 31: She’s Hiding It

I'm halfway through my stack of reports when my phone buzzes on the desk, Michael's name lighting up the screen. Usually, he texts updates—short, professional. A call means something else.

"Yeah?" I answer, keeping my voice steady.

"She went to her father's building today," Michael says without preamble. "Came out looking… off."

I tense, the words settling heavy. "Define 'off.'"

"She looked like she'd been hit, boss. Nearly in tears, but she kept it together. Didn't tell me what happened, and hasn't mentioned it to you either, I'm guessing."

"Nothing." I lean back, irritation flaring as I try to figure out what the hell could've shaken her up like that. Riley's been quieter than usual lately, but I chalked it up to everything going on with Callum. Now, it's clear there's something more.

"Where is she now?"
